    Hello all,

    Thank you for the messages.

We got back last night after a great week. Out and about everyday I've spent most of today sleeping, I've got jet lag from Oban and my wee baldy heid is sunburnt. :rotfl:

Kittens survived a week of Grandad's gentle ministrations. They've both grown thanks to copious amounts of normal food plus packets of Dreamies. Husky has frolicked across the Western Isles. She found a pile of manure on Lismore and dived in, head first. Rubber gloves, baby shampoo and a hose were required once we got back, a ferry ride later.

Hope you've all enjoyed the weather. I do the Scottish suntan of blue to white to red. Factor 30 has been slapped on but I'm still going scarlet. I've pushed the boat out and bought a sunhat complete with girly scarf around it. It makes me look like I should know about gardening and bridge...unfortunately ignorant on both counts.

Came back to DLA appeal being rejected and still no word on SSP. I went off sick on 1st February, total income to date £168. That's quite scary, kittens can't be kept in Dreamies on that. :o I'll speak to the accountant again tomorrow and find out what HMRC are up to.

Oban is a lovely wee town, went there a few weeks ago myself, although i have to admit i prefer driving through the national park than Oban itself, we landed up in Mull, i assume its a lovely place although i couldnt really tell through all the rain :(

glad you had fun though, hope the DLA get their finger out soon, that really isnt even survival money :(

Mull is lovely. We got the first ferry out and last ferry back, so about 10 hours on the island. It is very weather dependent. Passing places are fun if you're on holiday and not rushing to be anywhere. Doing it in the middle of winter with driving sleet isn't so appealing.

Benefits to date work out at £7 per week, so exactly a pound a day. Given I've paid squillions in tax over the years it's a bit of a nonsense.

Saw oncologist yesterday. Cancer they removed was the size of a wee box of matches. All the hormone tests are back and they are completely negative...on a scale from 1 to 10 they were 0. So no Tamoxifen or Herceptin for me. Can't have more radiotherapy due to proximity of previous cancer and there's no more chemo that can be used as I now appear to be resistant to all current protocols. If it comes back then they can try last defence chemos and clinical trials.

Going back on Monday for an ultra sound as I'm still getting a lot of pain in my chest if I bend...feels like velcro ripping apart. As it was there before the surgery, not in the direct area of the operation and has started to get worse again they want to check and see if there's anything suspicious there.

As this pathology is even worse than the last one, them not being able to see any visible evidence isn't really comforting I'm afraid.

    Hi Beanie.

They think they've cut out all the cancer. There is no further treatment they can give me unless/until it comes back. The cancer they took out was the most aggressive sort and resistant to chemo and "wonder drugs" like Tamoxifen and Herceptin. It's now wait and see but chances are it will reoccur somewhere.

    Hi Taxi...u/s are painless...we like that :j

painless is a good thing..u/s good as no needles or dye.
I've had pain in my ribs ever since my first cancer and they can't find anything that's causing it...just one of those things they say to me...it's like a muscle cramp that stops me in my tracks.
My cancer was absolutely negative for hormones too exactly the same as yours...FEC didn't work on mine but pacliataxel and Avastin did...so yours may not be totally resistant but it's all scary stuff
