Flo Flo is spot on Richie.

You are correct in pointing out that you are likely to get more hassle from CS staff if you have self-scanned, but never-the-less the R&R policy applies.

I would suggest that if you self-scan, have a number of items in your basket.

By doing this it looks less obvious that you are R&R hunting.

The average Joe does not check every price - say for a 10 item shop - on the self scanner LCD.

However the average Joe would probably spot a mis-price for a single item, say a console game.

However - the onus is on Tesco to ensure Price Integrity - not the consumer.

So Richie - you make a valid point, but as far as the R&R policy is concerned - you're wrong I'm afraid.

    Interesting one today
Got 2nd lot of nutrogena skincare bits on OOD 2 4 £5 (last CSA missed others on same yellow stickers when I had my first lot so went back for more today)
    Anyway
she said "oh yes it's out of date" then as we were walking back
she said "will you be ok with the difference"?
Shocked I said "er yes ok".
When we got to desk I aksed her if the policy had finished then,
    she said "what policy"
I said the one on the huge blue sign behind you that states full refund - she ignored me and went on to refund full amount without another word.
Ended up paying £2 odd for £22 worth of goods and toiletries using various H&B and QK coupons.
    Happy days:T

Had my first R&R today - was made to feel that it was the end of the earth all for 72p.

How do you guys do this?

I have been tempted for a very long time but this was a genuine "Oh look at my receipt I have been overcharged"

the CSA was so rude and made me feel like a criminal- for what their mistake!

Thanks I have now vented my anger!

I would say for every 10 CS staff, 6 have a fairly non-plussed attitude, 2 will be quite pleasant and 1 will be a git...

    You obviously found a git!

Sometimes when the shopper is treated in such a negative way it only encourages the consumer to seek out more R&Rs...

Not that I'm trying to encourage you ;)

Some are wrong in a good way for the customer and some are wrong in a bad way. In my experience of running the department that deals with the labels the amounts average out to around the same however there is not a website / long running thread set up to deal with prices that are less than displayed as there is no financial gain to be had.

I think the majority of people see a misprice where the customer gets it for less than the shelf price, as still a mistake by Tescos, a mistake this time in the shelf price though, and arent actually gaining from it, as that is the price its supposed to be............so thats why no-one goes to CS with it.

And on a previous discussion re taking back DVD'ds etc, I discovered today that you were toatally wrong about Tescos Policy on that one, the policy is not as you suggested, that the policy states "they will not refund on them".

I read the policy on the board this morning, and it includes the word "may", and gives a reason of "unliscenced copying"

So your whole argument the other day about RandRers asking CS staff to break their policy was (sorry) total rubbish.

I know it doesnt state that.. but if the policy wasnt in place and you used a self scan an you scanned something and it came up £20 more.. would you carry on then queue at Customer services for a refund or would you say to the supervisor there and then its should be x amount not that??

Least going through a normal checkout Tescos have some chance of an advisor noticing the overcharge..but through a self service they got no chance. Thats why 9 out 0f 10 people go through the checkout and not selfservice as they know the outcome...no r&r.

If getting r&rs were accepted at Customer services then trust me the self services would have mile long queues as r&r would be sooooo easy!

Although this shouldnt be right, and people regularly RandR on SS tills, i certainly wouldnt risk a biggie on an SS till.

I was trying to say the easiest way for r&r... and self scan is by far the hardest. If your overcharged in an ideal world then yes I agree its a full refund how ever you paid for it or how you did it but why use a self scan and throw another excuse for tescos not to give you a full refund..
That person above would have had a free psp game if they went through checkout and CS couldnt have found any excuse that the person couldnt wiggle out of.. but as they used the self service that was the excuse Mr T gave and it worked as that person was lead to believe that they were in the wrong!!

Its pretty much the same as finding an over charge and buying 2 of the item you'd get away with it but then if you buy 10 then tescos can use the excuse of 'Bulk buying is limited to 6 items etc' If you werent fully clued up on r&r you would say "ok i'll just have the 6 free then" even tho you are entitled to the full refund on 10..if they got policies for bulk buying then they stop you before you pay for them..once you've paid for them then they got to refund on them all!!

You're right about the inclusion of the word "may" in regards to refunding cds/dvds/games. When I had trouble taking back a sealed DVD, I used that as part of my argument as to why they should refund me. They may refuse to refund on dvds/cds/games due to unlicensed copying, but I was returning an obviously still sealed DVD, so they should refund as it was obvious I hadn't made any unlicensed copies. I hadn't even opened the damn thing. I'd only bought it earlier that day, too, and had the receipt to prove it.

Incidentally, I do go to CSD when undercharged. :p They always say the same thing - "It's your lucky day!".

Thanks for that MUNT, this was my whole argument the other day, but Spa was adamant that RandRers were moaning because Tesco wouldnt refund, or we were trying to get CS staff to break Company Policy....which actually he quoted or used incorrectly.

I still say though, that customers dont really see that they have been undercharged, they see it as being charged correctly, its the SEL thats (again) incorrect.
