"The immoral (golden R+R) people of this world"Tesco_Employee wrote:The immoral (golden R+R) people of this world have finally succeeded in pushing Tesco to withdraw this policy to the detriment of the genuine customers most pleased when they are informed they will receive a refund and be allowed to keep the product.
Now let me see if I can work out who you mean. It must be you're refering to the people responsible for Golden R&Rs.
The one person who is 100% responsible for the "Golden R&R" is the member of staff at the CS desk who gave the original refund. They failed to follow simple instructsions and didn't mark the receipt.
I'm glad you've confirmed the real reason the policy was changed. Staff who refuse to follow instructions.0 -
I like the way people come on here saying that serial R&Rs are greedy.
If you include me as a serial R&Rer you couldnt be more wrong!
If anything, I've become even more generous since first learning of the policy!
Ask anyone who knows me, This Christmas EVERYONE I know got a much better present than they were expecting, they also all had a good drink, I made sure of that!Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!

Re- why I did R and R.
For years I shopped at Tesco and during the late 1990s/early 2000s became increasingly annoyed at their attitude towards customer service. As a "normal" customer I was subjected to the most incredible bad manners at tills and complete lies at CS.
The managers and more senior instore staff seem to have been brainwashed into thinking of Tesco as a family(look after each other, reward each other etc etc). I can imagine that Tescos training programmes involve alot of "team work" talks and bonding rituals. They work and speak like automatons-"there is only one way-the Tesco way".
Nothing wrong with some of that unless of course you lose site of what your job is in the first place. A Tesco employees job is to serve me the customer not Tescos. Without me (used in the widest sense of the word) there is no Tescos. They have lost sight of that with their riding rough shod approach over customer needs in order to meet instore targets and deadlines.
I was delighted to find a way to annoy them. I was amazed yet again that many CS staff forget what CS actually means and I was gratified to note over the last weekend with some stores new policies that CS staff are not only badly trained in customer service they also lack the basic numerical skills that should be manditory for any job.
I have shopped elsewhere after becoming increasingly fed up with Tescos lack of customer care. However as the Tv programme stated last night in a written statement from Tescos "we aim to treat our customers as we would like to be treated ourselves". Therefore I will continue to shop at Tescos and treat you with the utter contempt with which you have treated me over the last few years.:A NI FEIDIR ACH LE DIA BREITHIUNAS A DHEANAMH ORM0 -

Thats almost exactly what I said when I saw that quote on the telly last night.
I will also make them feel like criminals at every opportunity, talk down to them, follow them around the store making them feel uncomfortable and every time they ask me for help I'll be as awkward as possible and just give the my OHs phone number as only then will they get any joy in gettting me to help them. I will also be incredibly !!!!!! at maths if they ask me to work anything out.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!

Well, exercise your right to shop elsewhere and stop bleating about it.
Tesco Employee, agree with you wholeheartedly. The greedy pigs with their noses in the trough have spoiled it like I said they would.
To the guy with the aliases and sad tactics that wouldn't look out of place in a spy movie (despite the fact he just "secures" himself some free beans), what ya gonna do now? Yer martyr/ urban guerrilla role is now defunct. Ach, well you were resorting to underhanded tactics anyway.Might as well go the whole hog and just start stuffing the gear up yer jumper.0 -

I like playing devils advacado
My experience Tesco CS is generally the opposite to yours.
I R&R a lot - not as much as some, but it is the driving force behind every visit to Tesco.
It is rare that I get a bad member of staff. Certainly, many don't toe the line (or perhaps they do?) with regard to company policy, but a chat with the manager always sorts that out. However, I do not remember a time when I have argued with a CSA or been rude to.
Arguments with Managers are memorable as too many of them aren't aware of the statutory laws covering the sale of goods, but these too are rare. A manager is all too aware of the negativity generated by a shop floor argument and there's no point in having it with a CSA who is being managed badly - they don't have the authority to do certain things.
Certainly, there are some check-out staff who are more interested in chatting with their mates than serving you, but this is far from a Tesco only problem.
Somone else mentioned being followed around the stores. This happens to me at one branch - they are so "covert" that it's amusing. One particular store defective seems not to know how to speak into his radio so that we can't hear him, but then duck behind something when we turn around. He seems to think that we're as stupid as he would appear to be. It certainly puts me off of using the store, but it is a 100% pointless exercise for them as, invariably, I walk out with an R&R anyway - why follow me in the first place if you're not going to rectify a problem?0
