So .... the serial number is indeed on the outside of the Touchpad box, no need to open it. I've just spoken to HP again and they gave me a case number and asked me to email proof of purchase to an special email address (qenglishfax@next.com.ar). The agent I spoke to confirmed that I am guaranteed a refund and he didn't seem too bothered about when I purchased it! He told me I could start using the Touchpad straight away
No mention of asking for my bank details though, so I've asked in the email how they intend to refund. The agent did say they don't have a timeframe for the refunds just yet.
I'm still not opening it until I get some sort of confirmation!0 -

Well I bit the bullet & bought an iPad today. Was looking at the 64gb touchpads on eBay & they around £360. Found a deal on 64gb iPad with 3g for £399 from PC World. Great price for top spec iPad. I love it!0

Two questions hoping you guys can help me out with:
First one, out of curiosity:
There was a 15 minute flash sale of HP Touchpads on the PC World Business website earlier this week. Was any one lucky enough to get one and did they fulfill the order?
Second query:
Never purchased anything from the USA on ebay before and I am thinking of taking the plunge and buying a touchpad from a US seller.
(Set my limit at £150, as really want one and from a usability perspective or spec wise. None of these cheap budget ones comes close for this sort of money!)
Am I liable for VAT or any other customs charges above what I pay to the seller for the item and !!!!!!!!?0 -

Yes, some people were successful (not me!!) but others had their orders cancelled even though they went through successfully on the website, as they apparently took more orders than they had stock.

Add on all the extra costs it makes it less viable/less of a deal.
If you are that desperate to buy one, the price on eBay will likely stabalise and fall back as the panic buying/frenzy subsides.
I think we all (myself included!) have become a little irrational about buying one - I didn't know about it and hadn'tconsidered a tablet before this firesale, yet suddenly feel as though I have missed out and "need" one. If I had needed one, I would have bought one (I didn't and don't need one, we have laptops in the house that will do far more than this!) and now if I do need it (and assuming that I am unsuccessful in getting one reasonably priced) then it will be worth taking a proper look at alternatives that may do more.
If I factored in how much time I have been chasing stock online and instore for the past two weeks (so much for being on holiday!!) I could have bought an iPad 2 at full rrp and still have money left over!

The first lot of free apps ("six pack") were US only but they've made some available for UK now (only three though, poor deal for UK again?!)
