I was on the phone to sky the other day trying to get money off, didnt work...but.... The guy on the phone was asking which of the mixes i watch and i said most but mainly kids. so he said to me to call up again on wednesday and cancel all my mixes except the kids one and because of the price freeze and package reshuffle i'll only have to pay £19.50 a month and I'll get all the channels back anyway because the kids mix will be part of the new entertainment extra package. He said he wasn't supposed to tell me that but he did and now i'm sharing it with you!

This is the same deal talked about here, only you could call anytime by Sept. 1 as I understand it. Did the man you spoke with say why you should call on Wednesday?
There was some debate later as to whether this deal would work if you hadn't call by a month *before* Sept. 1 because you have to cancel things a month in advance, which means you wouldn't have the new lower price when the change kicked in if you cancel channels less than a month out. Others said it would work anyway. I'm still debating which way it is likely to work before I decide to call.0 -
I phoned last tuesday to cancel my package - and was told the same thing about the reshuffle in sept - but i still said no thanks - so they then gave me 25% off for 12 months - 16.50 a month is ok -and the price is frozen - so pretty good deal i think0

Why cancel everything and keep kids????? Your gonna get everything in the extra pack anyway.0

The point is that you have to keep one mix that will become part of the big pack that includes everything and cancel the rest so that when the new packs debut, you will get everything by default.0 -
Just rang and cancelled 2 of my mixes (did have 4) so now only left with kids and entertainment. She said that one months notice is required and they will be switched of one month from today, however she never mentioned anything about the new packages from Sept. Hoping by default that come Sept I will get the new entertainment plus package at the 2 package price, or have I jumped the gun and gonna end up paying moreMassive thanks to all who contribute on the MSE forums, especially on grabbit and competition boards0

This is what I'm worried about myself. I didn't realize before that the best bet was to cancel one month before sept. 1. Now if I cancel things I do want, when they end in a month the new deal will have already started -- so will I get that or have to pay the new price of something like 25 quid to get it? I *think* it sounds like you did the right thing, that you will probably have saved money.
I wish the OP would give some more details on her phonecall and why Wednesday was the day to call back.0 -
I came upon this thread by co-incidence, I am looking at my packages at the moment and I have just called because I did not get a letter about the pricing change and could not understand what the new changes meant to us. The lady also told me about the downgrade and that I will keep all of the channels if I downgrade.
I have been able to downgrade today and they are making no secret of it, they asked what I watched and they told me to downgrade to kids mix to save some money without losing any channels.
It is all to do with the price freeze - once the price freeze has ended in Sept 2012 then the price will go up to the £25 a month, however because your package includes the kids mix the changeover has to include the kids mix - so this will be Entertainment Extra.
Anyone who subscribes before 1st September will have their price frozen til Sept 2012 so the price you agree to pay today (£19.50) will be frozen until 2012 and this is all you'll pay. Downgrades take 31 days to be applied but your subscription starts from today so when the downgrade comes in the package change would have happened and this is why you'll get all the channels if you are only on Kids Mix.
Hope that all makes sense.
I have downgraded today and saved £5 a month which is better than nothing. We have HD and Multiroom as well, it all mounts up, plus with F1 starting next year it's going to be s ting paying £20 a month for 9 races, think we are going to have to check the dates and just stagger those if we can, especially with the break over the summer holiday.0 -
Keep in mind that the new "Variety Pack" mix will have only the current Variety Mix and Style & Culture. So when you keep your one mix now, select one that is only found in the Entertainment Extra mix (which will include the two channels in the new "Variety Pack).
As I understand it, you'd want to keep one of the following: Children's, Knowledge, Music, or News.0 -
ok so i'm confused (no surprise there lol)
we have the living etc and kids so will we get the entertainment and the entertainment extra for the same price we are paying now?cracker challenge silver: £610/£1010.00 :jOne debt vs 100 days: 1000.00/0.000 -

Hi, You shouldn't have accepted it for £16.50. A few months ago I cancelled everything with sky but then I kept on receiving calls of them and also offer letters with everything for :rotfl:half price:rotfl:
I just received a half price offer letter of them even though I've joined them last week for £25/month which includes Movies, Sports and entertainment channels. Normally they sell it for £52/month but I removed News and Event(£1) and Music(£1) channel, so that come down to £50/month, then with half price offer it comes £25.
With the Half-price offer for 12 months, actually once you have accepted this offer, you are not exactly tied up for 12 months, you could cancel with 30 days notice.
Hope it helps some one.Titch0
