Thought this would be the best place to ask although I know it is not a normal post on here. Next month we will have four rooms in our house not being used. Two are bedrooms, one a living room, and one a bathroom. How often should I dust and hoover these rooms? How often should I clean the bathroom? Obviously if they are about to be used I will give them a clean, but what about the rest of the time?
What made me think of this was I was hoovering a clean carpet and thought "I am just wearing this out" !!!
This is while the rest of the house looks like ??? I have a RoD which I intend to tackle. Very soon. Surely this would be better that hoovering clean carpets !! Hubby didn't mind RoD until now, he just shut the door. Unfortunately now there is so much stuff in it the door won't close. His answer would be to take it all to the tip - I am afraid it is me who is the hoarder !!!!!0 -
afternoon,
where has the morning gone?
i have been to physio and also picked up a few essentials in sainsbugs.
I have taken some ready cooked stuff out of the freezer for dins 'cos I know I wont have time to cook later.
I am just stuffing my face with pasty (naughty) then I have an hour until I need to leave for my voluntary thing at prison.
I am still trying to sort out my car (frog) but think I am getting there. Am hoping to collect it on saturday.
Off to do a HHC then get changed, put some slap on and go out. Indigestion tabs probably needed tooYesterday is history

Clean clothes all folded and anything that could be put away has been. The boys have lifted all their toys and put all the clothes on the bed so i'll need to sort through them later. DW been emptied and reloaded, wm back on and i'd say there is 6 loads to be done today.
Plan now is town to get DS2 and DD sorted with their glasses, need to get some food and call into the PO..
Then when i get back i'll get on with the box thats in the back hall and finish the livingroom and bathroom (only thing done there is the floors cleared).
Need to fix the chicken house roof, it came off yesterday while the rabbit was behind it. I swear i thought it was dead but it got to the side of it in time. Heart stopping moment..
MrsChaos I'm just plodding along..

sitting here enjoying reading everyone's posts but not getting anything done - and decorator arrived unexpectedly (was due at 3 to do his 'snagging'). Caught me very unawares in my pjs still at 11am. Must think I'm a real lazy so and so but in my defence was trying to do all the scanning for DDs house documents. All right for her- she's in Bali and I'm left with the chaos to sort out.
One job done - scanned and emailed (and handed over the responsibility to someone else now)
Off upstairs to sort the bedroom whilst the decorator does his thing.Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -
Afternoon all
Goodintentions, we turned off our virgin box when we went on holiday in April and it did the same thing. Had a new one and the man said we should have left it on but when I asked the question in the virgin forum they said that was rubbish, how else could they keep them in warehouses until they were fitted!!! We've changed to V+ since.
I haven't looked at the lists but I've done the kitchen/diner, hallway, living room and bedrooms this week. Bathroom tomorrow. Washing dry this morning and put away. Made hob nobs and ginger cake, both cooling.
I can't remember much of what I've read so just:wave:0 -
I've been having a week of spring cleaning (somewhat late I know) and a declutter.
Today the washer is on it's 3rd load (one more left after that)
This morning I've cleaned the upstairs windows, had dental checkups and been uniform shopping with DS
This afternoon's jobs -
clean bedrooms
clean landing and stairs
continue sorting out the clutter/junk/craft stuff/work stuff in the dining room
clean inside of the car (this should be DS's job but he's off out....oh well no pocket money for him then lol!)I like to live in cloud cuckoo land :hello:0 -

If this were me I would give the bathroom a wipe over weekly (shouldn't take long) and run some water down the drain and flush the loo (and add bleach) Just to keep water in the bends/traps (or they'll get whiffy.
I would also air the rooms regularly. Are you closing/opening curtains?
By hoovering you're keeping the risk of insect visitors down, so at least every couple of weeks if you're in and out.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

I would run the vacuum over the unused room whenever I do the upstairs, I tend to just go right through and vacuum it all at once to save time.
A quick wipe over the bathroom with a wet cloth would suffice just to keep the dust down once every 1-2 weeks Id think. I would have bleach in the loo every week though.. flush it and bleach it and leave it for another week.. just so nothing was breeding in the stagnant water .. though one of those block things in the cistern might mean just a flush once a week..
I have a house of doom I am working my way through.. 10 years and counting and still not got very far!
OHs mum is threatening an overnight visit so I need to finish emptying the bedroom so she can have the bed.. .... Where do I put 3 binbags of wool and a binbag of frilly bridesmaid dresses... Would the dresses be ok in one of those airtight vacuum sealed bags in the loft do you think?
The wool I AM knittng my way through.. I intend sorting my fabric stash and will put the wool waiting to be used in the cupboard under the stairs once there is room.. actually.. That may become todays job.. along with sorting DD4s drawers and naming her new AGE 7!!!! school trousers(she is 9!! and just started on growth hormone replacement)

Where do I put a binbag of frilly bridesmaid dresses...
Ebay?
After lunch I need to shove our grey wheelie bin in the car (just realised it's full of stuff for work and for a friend ) to get a new one. A pain, but they're charging £15 delivery, even though the lid is broken and it's our first replacement since these where introduced.
Hm, I wonder if I can call at my friend's daughter at the same time and get rid of the toys in the boot. What she doesn't want can go to the CS.I'll text her to see if she's in.
