Heading for winter with Slimming World

  • I put the wrong time down on my previous post - I work from 3pm to 11pm, so it's too early to have my dinner before I go to work; we also don't get a break - we work through the whole 8 hours and eat whilst we're working - I know it's a recipe for disaster!

    Is that even legal?!?

Assuming it is, I guess you need to take easy to eat food...

    sandwiches
    SW quiche
    carrot sticks and dip
    cereal bars
    nuts
    fruit

That's brilliant news magnolia. You'll feel great in Zante because there's nothing like holiday clothes for showing off weightloss! I got the biggest boost when I was on holiday in June. I met up with loads of old friends who hadn't seen me for a year and they were full of compliments at how good I looked without the flab!!

So, I'm cheating already and allowing myself an extra 5 syns when I am working - partly because of the ridiculous temptation and also because I run around for 8 hours, lifting and carrying etc. I know some people will think thats really wrong, but after 15 years of dieting and just managing to put weight on, all I really want to do is have a healthier way of living that I can stick to.

So Friday was 12 syns :j and yesterday was 19 syns. :)

I'm going to WI every friday.

    Cuckoo. xx

What were you advised at your group cuckoo? When I started a year ago we were told up to 15 syns a day (105 a week) and that's what I've done and lost the weight I wanted. Recently I seem to be reading everywhere that 70 (10 a day) is what's recommended. If you work 5 days a week you could afford to be over syns provided you were syn free at weekends. Tweaking the plan isn't advised but lots of people save syns but you have to be very strict with yourself. I think if you did this, you'd lose weight. If you have a regular extra 5 syns then I don't think it'll work as well.

TIE, my WI day is a Thursday which gives 3 clear days afer my synful weekends and works for me. I think Thursday night would be even better but that would mean changing group. I'm amazed how many people in my group treat Thursdays as binge days then spend the rest of the week playing catch up!!

    MY EE plan for today:
B: NAS squash, HEB porage, HEA milk + teas, banana
L: HM lentil and veg soup, pear, satsuma
D: roast pork, roast potatoes, parsnips, carrots, cauli and cabbage, gravy
Syns: weekend wine syns:j and gravy but I must stay away from pork crackling!!

  • Well done mags!!

Brilliant news dizzy, my friend has a magic ear and it works great. has changed her life :)

I didn't lose this week but at least I haven't gone up again. I had 20 syns yesterday so am going to behaver myself today. DS2 made dinner last night and it was a risotto so I had no control of what went in it. Good thing I tried to have half a plate full and half a plate of baked beans as they were the only thing on offer.

    Today EE
    breakfast: banana and apple
Lunch: veggie sausage, lean bacon and baked beans
Dinner: beef stew with massive amount of vegetables and new potatoes

Supper: porridge HEB and HEA, plus milk in tea, banana, nectarine and apple.

    fruit

I do it all the time, worked 5pm - 1.15am last night with no break.
You just need to arrange it so you have your 'dinner' before you go. Even though its not actually dinner time as such, have a larger/later lunch to keep you going and a snack for while you work. I managed to engineer 3 minutes to inhale a yoghurt and banana during my shift last night. Not ideal but it kept me going. Too busy to have an actual break.

Well done Magnolia, that is a fabulous achievement.

    Meal plan for today
    A for milk
    Coffee(a)
    42g all bran(B), yoghurt, banana
    tea x 2(a), alpen light(1/2B)
    3 x waffles(7.5), cheese(A) omelette, beans
    Meringue(5), strawberries.

Welcome trigger, just occurred to me that if you're using an old book I think some Mullers now have syns. I think there's been a recent recipe change. I don't eat them myself but I'm not imagining this am I? Sorry can't access site at the moment but someone else might confirm.

Just had huge roast and feeling stuffed. All free except for gravy;)

feel like a fraud when I report that yet another day has gone down the pan.

    it went something like this....

    cup of tea

in car (just after 6.30am) - breakfast
    of hi fi bar
    murray mints x 3
    weetabix oati bar (toffee flavour)

at destination - stood in cold hanging around - mid morning- pack of mr t small danishes (6 in pack?)

    murray mint

    bit later ....

thirsty as hell - diet orange fizzy drink

snack while traveling home (starving now) half a large bag of crisps (large as in m& S branded crisps so not that large...)

home - mid afternoon. time for lunch
falafel and houmous wrap (shop bought) (syns)
    rest of crisps (more syns)
    sweet chilli sauce (syns)
    unmeasured feta HEA?
    roasted cherry toms (Free)
    Pepperdew pepers x2 (syns)

    late afternoon snack
tiger bread x 3 slices and spread (syns syns syns)
the purple one chocolate bar (umm more syns!)

    tea - m n s cumberland sausages (lots of syns :() x 2
    mccain oven chips
more tiger bread with spread (2 slices)
    beans

    red wine

I have to say that the day I walk into a supermarket and pick up a sandwich or salad that isn't covered in mayo, comes without spread and isn't stupidly high in syns will be the day I do somersaults down the aisle! Why oh why is it not possible to pick up a DECENT salad with no added dressing and why or why could I not find the fresh fruit in the Mr T I visited. Why were the bakery items on 3 for 2 ? why could they not offer 3 for 2 on fruit ?

It was difficult to make sensible choices while I was out because I didn't plan despite saying I would. I thought I could manage until I got back and enjoy my pasta salad I had in my fridge. I think part of the problem was that i was thirsty and somehow mistook this for hunger ?

I couldn't begin to tell you how many syns I have had today. Is it any wonder why I'm almost back where I started? Why do I let one bad meal ruin the whole day ? Why could I not have had a sensible tea ?

:eek::eek: on your day Eric but totally agree how impossible it is to buy SW friendly food when out on the road. I posted yesterday about restaurant food but it's just as bad trying to buy meals on the go. I'm hoping the more that printing calories on menus becomes prevalent the more chains will be more SW friendly. Why can't more places do salads with sauces/dressings to add rather than all over them to start with (I find Pret a Manger about the best bet)? And it's almost impossible to find sandwiches that aren't full of mayo.

Now I'm at target, I look back and wonder how I managed. Too many flexi days lately but I'm pleased that I'm firmly in the SW mindset and looking forward to getting back on plan when all my celebrations and holidays are over.
