  • Hi guys, I've been lurking for a while, while I thought about joining SW or not and I've finally gone for it.

I got on the scales yesterday morning and came down with a big bump when I realised I weigh DOUBLE what I did 5 years ago, I've put on 10 stone in 5 years!! :-((

Thats really not good so I need to get myself sorted, any help and advice gratefully recieved - especcially about little snacks and treats that are low syn or free (thats always my downfall)

The other thing is I work in the evenings 4 nights a week from 5 till 11(in a petrol station of all places, all that chocolate, crisps, sandwiches etc!) so I eat at work, I need some ideas of either something I can prepare in advance or little bits I can pick at - or both lol!!

    HELP!!!!

    Cuckoo. xx

Starting Fresh to get my house and finances sorted! 02/02/12
  • Welcome to the madhouse Cuckoo! I'm assuming you can have your dinner before you go to work so maybe just need a small snack while you are there?
Take a yoghurt and fruit or a cereal bar from your allowance to keep you going maybe?

Free food = all fresh fruit(not cooked) though go easy on bananas as they can slow some people's losses.
All fresh veggies (except potatoes/peas/sweetcorn on red days)

I take a bag of carrot/pepper sticks to munch on when i'm hungry.

What days are you planning on doing - green/red or extra easy?

:wave:welcome cuckoo and congratulations on making that decision. If I were you I'd break your weightloss down into small targets to help motivation. What about a stone by Christmas (that's very doable and you'll feel great when you exceed it)?

I'd agree about eating your main meal before you go to work and then it depends whether you like sweet or savoury best. Do you have a proper meal break in the evening? Any facilities like a microwave? I always find a packet of cooked meat is good for picking at but better still is to try and not pick:(. Just try saying to yourself 'I have my break at 8 and I'm looking forward to....' and that's it. Or have something like a jacket and beans to look forward to when you get home. The food side is relatively easy, it's the will power that's more difficult to come by!!:)

Lots of birthday celebrations going on at the moment. It must be to do with Christmas/New Year being 9 months ago!:rotfl:We're off out for lunch with DGD to celebrate her birthday. She's chosen Nandos so we'll see what I can have there. At least we're not involved later when the friends come round for pizza and crisps and cake.

    My EE plan today:
B: NAS squash, HEB toast, baked beans, HEA milk with teas
    L: Nandos!
D: depends how hungry we feel. SW curry in the freezer or if not I'll have toast with Laughing Cow.

    Have a good day everyone.

well yesterday was a bit of a blow out - fast food (KFC) and loads of alcohol.... oops!

So counting it as a flexi day and moving onwards and upwards.

Had a SW fry up this morning (no fat) and added some cooked tomatoes to up the SF element and had an apple too. Had 2 slices of wholemeal bread so 1 is HEB and 1 is 4 syns. HEA is milk in tea all day.

Planning on having salad and fruit for lunch, no syns.

Out tonight so not sure what dinner will be, used to love going out but now I really hate losing control over what food is on offer...

Another day that has gone pear shaped. I am at the heaviest I have been since I joined and if I don't stop sabotaging my efforts then I am going to be back where I started.

I have decided to miss the next two classes because I have been thinking of going it alone and I want to see how I get on.

At the moment it isn't going very well.

I'm hoping to get my head in gear and meal plan and also plan my syns.

I am determined that when I go back to class in a couple of weeks that I will be below the next stone level - thats 3.5 pounds I need to shift. Its not going to be the easiest of weeks because I have a busy day tomorrow (very early start) and later this week, I will
have hotel breakfasts to contend with and meals out.

will also try to post my meal plans on here!

I know how you feel bettyB. I think that's one of the hardest things abut SW. I know some restaurants do have SW friendly stuff but it tends to be so basic (jacket, omelette, chicken breast etc) that you wonder why you bothered going out. The trouble is I don't really fancy loads of synful foods these days. I had my Nandos today probably quite a few syns in peri peri chicken, chips and minted peas. After I had a little taste of frozen yogurt, it said fat free on the machine so that might be healthy??

I've found hotel breakfasts quite good since I've been doing SW, Eric. You can fill up wellon the buffets if you avoid the sausages and fried bread. I generally have bacon, egg, tomatoes and mushrooms. There's probably some oil but I avoid bread and sort of count it as HEB. Lots of hotels offer fresh fruit as well especially grapefruit but a fruit bowl too. The evening meals present a different problem.....:)

I try to check out the menu in advance so I have an idea of what my options are and what food choices are available. I have to be honest and say that I usually end up having what I want but at least I go with a heads up.

I usually order a side salad and I do find myself drawn to healthier options. I do find it hard to resist the pudding ....

Steak and a huge salad is usually a good option although depending on where you go, the salad can be sparse/boring yet other places - its fab!
  • Todays menu;

    B. Toast (HEB) Tomatoes, mushrooms
    L. Chicken Salad with new potatoes, 3 laughing cow ex lt cheese, (part of A)2 tablespoons salad cream (need to work out syns)
    D. Chicken and potato curry

Muller light with raspberries. banana, Coffee with milk (part of A), 1 tspn sugar (1)
