Heading for winter with Slimming World

Hello - it's nearly the end of my first SW week (I did start it afew years ago but then got pregnant with DS so gave it up). I've struggled a little bit because I don't like most fruit and veg or diet/nas drinks or sweeteners, so I've completely ditched tea, coffee, pop, squash, crisps, sweets, chocolate etc.... I've been very good though, weighing my cereal, measuring my milk, although without tea, and given that I like SS milk, I've got nowhere near my daily HE allowance. Had a takeaway tonight though - I'd have been suicidal without my Saturday night indian takeaway
- and I chose Chicken Dhansak which was only 6.5 syns, I had boiled rice where I'd have normally had pilau, so that was free, and I had half a poppadom instead of my usual 2 so 2 syns.
Midweek I was ready to murder someone, I felt so depressed about being on a diet, but I'm feeling pretty good now as I've managed to avoid all the $hite I normally eat. Beans, jacket potatoes, Muller Lights and bananas have been my friends this week! If I don't lose some weight on Monday or Tuesday (depends which group I go to) then I'll be fuming!
Jx
Have you tried other teas that you don't need milk for - Green or Ruibosh?0 -

It's not the milk that's the problem, it's the two big sugars that I have to have with it. Easier really just not to have any at all, although earlier in the week I'd have sold my kids to sit down with a nice cuppa and a biccie!! Tbh now I've got this far (all of five days in!) I don't really crave anything bad, because I don't want to undo all the good work. I've also had really bad headaches which I've put down to sugar withdrawal, and I've got through that and don't want to have to go through it again!!
JxxAnd it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0 -
ok teecee...enjoy your way of eating..I'm sorry, I dont know what a swee day is, as I keep mainly to real and not processed food. Butter is a natural food, which I used to avoid like the plague..Dont get me wrong. I have used Weightwatchers in the past, ( never slimming world, although I think this has the upper edge on wW) but I've found that I can eat loads , not count calories, and have the occasional treat, and its a way of life. Its a diet that will never 'end', like other diets do.
Dont knock it till you try it. Then you'll sing it from the rooftops !0 -

Nelly You say that you've never used Slimming World so you might be surprised to find that the philosophy behind it is much the same as what you're doing already! Sorry for the use of "shortcuts" in my previous post - SW (Slimming World) EE (Extra Easy) also promotes real and not processed food, there's no calorie counting and I can also enjoy treats so it is also not a diet but a lifestyle. I have no issue with butter being a natural food, I just wouldn't fry with it, I prefer olive oil.
Like you say - don't knock it till you try it - but enjoy whatever you do!A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit!:rotfl:
Joined SW 13/9/10 - wanted to lose 56lb and lost 26lb! Rejoined on 9/1/12 having gained 17lb of my loss!!!
Want to lose 50lb. 50 - 8.5 = 41.5 to go!0 -
Fab loss again mags :j:j Only 11lbs to go to Target !! how good is that :T:T
Hope everyone is well this morning?
I've been batting away the PMT fairies since around 4pm yesterday :( The little blighters just turned up mob handed & pounced on me  Luckily I was on an EE day - so I kept them at bay by having a couple of mugshots (at intervals) followed by 2 bags of mandarins
then after my mahoosive tea I was still hungry, so had 2 ww dessert recipe yogs. Then at 10pm I had a big dish of salady stuff with a splash of 0.5 syn thousand island dressing
...... at 11pm I was back in the fridge having a nosey round:eek: found a mad coe xtra light so had 2 ryvita and tomatoes with that.:o oh and then I had my normal choccy treat syns too
but I DIDNT go over my syns :T:T:T wooooohoooooo.....result!!!!!! In the words of Bart Simpson "eat my shorts food fairies" :rotfl::rotfl:
Right now I've got that off my chest -:p;)
I'm off for a shower & I'll be back with my menu in a bit x x0 -
Hi can I please join in?
I first went to SW 4 years ago to lose weight for my wedding, which i did I lost 3.5 stones. Gradually have put most of it back on, I know why I just forgot everything I had learned, but also I started work full time and found it hard to keep up with the cooking.
However after trying on all my lovely clothes I bought and then being really upset cos I cant get stuff to fasten or go over my big bum I have realised I can and will find time!
I have a really supportive hubby and 2 little girls ( who love the rounded mummy 'cos she's squishy and soft like a sofa!;) but after reading through the forum think I will be happy to share my success/failures with like minded people.:D0 -
confused57 wrote: »HELLO - I'm rubbish at the moment. I can't seem to stick to it and put another 2lb on this week. I feel a terrible fraud cos I help with the weigh in at our group and everyone says how helpful I am to them. Any advice or any very long legs with boots on the end for a mighty kick up the rear?
Well done all you losers. x
Remind yourself why you joined in the first place.
Reassess your goal - are you a target member and simply outside of target or are you yet to reach target ? If the latter then why not re adjust ? You don't have to set your final target at the very beginning and something that is only 7 pounds or 14 pounds away appears more achievable than something that is lots of pounds away.
Sit down and plan some menus but plan them around foods you love. What foods do you enjoy ? how can you incorporate them into slimming world ?
Look at your food optimizing book - what fruits and veg haven't you tried ? make it your mission to try a new fruit and/or veg every week.
Vary your healthy extras - in particular your b options - don't repeat the same b option in any one week.
Make sure you are measuring everything that needs to be measured! Don't guess!
Watch your syns - perhaps keep a food diary for a week - failing that just keep a small notebook and note down what you eat in a day - are syns creeping in .....
Look back at old food diaries - perhaps repeat some of what you did
be kind to yourself.
if you are tempted to buy said chocolate bar then put money for said chocolate bar in pot and repeat each time you fancy naughty treat - instead of spending pounds (and gaining pounds), you will be saving towards a nice treat.
Gather together tins of appropriate weight to what you have lost, stick in rucksack and carry round - remind yourself how well you have come so far and what weight you used to carry round.0 -
FLAT ERIC: THANK YOU SO MUCH for taking the time to list all these points. I got to target by losing three stone in 2008. It took 10 months from end of Jan to early Dec and I was absolutely ecstatic. Since then I have gradually put back 1 stone and just can't seem to get the enthusiasm back. My size 10 clothes still fit (just) but the size 8 jeans that I felt great in just wont go near me. It doesn't help when people say I don't need to lose weight (they don't see me without clothes!)
I will take your tips on board and give it another go. THANKS AGAIN. xx0 -
Fab loss again mags :j:j Only 11lbs to go to Target !! how good is that :T:T
First target my sweet - first target- will be re-assessing the situation once I am there - I will still have more to loose but I am a realist and will set smaller goals as the less you have to loose the slower it will come off - maybe something like another 15lbs or even 10lbs - we shall see just how determined I am feeling
I have already reached a size I am feeling more comfortable at and 1st target will see me into a size 20. I know that is still a large - sorry extra large size but I am 5ft10 and built like a brick outhouse :rotfl: Never been below a size 16 as an adult. Even as a teen and slim I was still 16 - just to fit my shoulders inMy lovely dad used to call me Amazon!:rotfl:
I have noticed some people are disappointed in their losses and keep comparing themselves to other who have more then a 1lb loss per week. All I can say is - you have to have it to loose like that - I have set my first target at 79lbs which 5st 9lbs - I will still want to shift getting on for 3st after that so as you can see - you have to have it to loose it:D
Don't be despondent if you 'only' loose .5lb - just pick up a pack of lard in the supermarket and feel just how heavy it really is - get a glass of water and weigh the water - ounce for ounce water weighs the same as anything else so 8oz of water weighs 8oz or .5lb. - feel the weight of a glass of water or just fill a standard mug and feel the difference. A 420g tin of baked beans weighs 1lb 1oz - now that is nothing to be sneezed at is it?
Don't diss yourself over half a pound - its half a pound less than it was a week ago and a whole pack of lard (which is pure fat)
Anyway - half a pound less is still in the right directionMags - who loves shopping0
