not at all, ask away.
at the moment i dont have any loose skin, i think that might be because i have been exercising since day one....building it up gradually, doing a wee bit more all the time. You can now see where i am building muscles from the weight bands, i really do think these have helped.
i do still have a wee fat bellybut i am doing sit ups / crunches and hope for it to flatten a wee bit.
but hey...im near 38 years old! i dont expect a washboard stomach!0 -

Yes I do go to a class as I really could not have done it without the support of the others in the group. It's really nice when others comment on how well each other is doing and to me that feels great and it motivates me to carry on.
I started off at 17 stone 8 and a half pound at the end of May last year, first weigh in was June so I havent done so bad.
I cannot see that I would look or feel healthy at 9 stone 3 because at the moment people are commenting and saying that I really dont need to lose much more because I will look ill, and in a way I do think their right, so around 11 stone for me and whilst maintaining if I lose a bit more then I will be ok with that. I think I will let my body decide :rotfl:
Thanks for your good wishes, I will let you know how I got onx
i could not have done it without the class either, the people there (just like on here!) are a lot more supportive and helpful than the consultant,
what height are you?
no, i am defo not going too low! i want to be able to keep this off FOREVER!0 -

On the mince front:
extra lean steak mince (5% fat) is free;
lean mince / steak mince (12% fat) = 2.5 syns per 100g
standard beef mince (20%fat) = 6.5 syns per 100g
If I can't get extra lean mince I get the steak mince (12% fat) and drain some of the fat off. I reckon that if I have a 500g pack there will be 25g fat in the 5% stuff and 60g fat in the 12% stuff so I start to cook the mince and once the fat is starting to come out of it I drain off over 35g. I know that I am probably losing flavour but if you look at the dish that the drained fat is in after it's set you know that it's worth it.

It's all a bit backward here - there is minced beef, minced chicken or minced turkey. I've been trying to do a mixture of beef and turkey or beef and chicken as I find the chicken or turkey just too bland on their own. I also add a ton of grated onion, carrots and courgettes to any minced beef mixture so hopefully that helps and I'll just try and increased the veg/salad that goes with it.Mediterranean Mum
hoping to lose 50lb by February 2013! 2st lost so far :j0 -

You're so right. I've never been given any real advice other than the odd throw away sentence. I'm experimenting with extra syns as well as HEXs. I think it's unrealistic to just have a bit more bread and cheese when you can have syns instead!:D I'm using a few favourite skirts/jeans as a guide to keep me from overdoing things. If they get a bit uncomfortable around the waist then it's time to be seriously back on plan.arsenalbarnie wrote: »Then pub Sat night so saving some syns for it each day is that allowed. Have a fab week everyone.:T
It's not exactly allowed but it does work! I did it all the way through as wine syns are definitely my favourite!;)Mediterranean_Mum wrote: »It's all a bit backward here - there is minced beef, minced chicken or minced turkey. I think the advice about draining fat is good. Drain it after you've browned the mince and even pat with kitchen roll to get even more off.
Interesting debate about BMI etc. Those charts, like the one in the pack, suggest a much heavier weight for people like me who are fairly tall (5ft 9 ins). I think what happens is those graphs work for the average but aren't so reliable when you extrapolate up or down. My target weight is 10.5 stone (which makes me a skinny size 12) but my consultant was more than happy for me to drop down to 10 stone (I suppose when I went below target I was going to either pay to put it back on or take more off!).0 -

Hi Piglet,
I am 5 foot 4.
What part of Northern Ireland are u from?
My dad came from Drogheda, Kells Co.Meath, we still have family there, also Ashbourne.
I think my obsession with spuds and cabbage come from the fact that I was brought up on them coming from a big irish family :rotfl:
Total loss = 5 stone 12.5 lbs. / But now GAINED 1 STONE 1.5 LBS!!
46 weeks! :beer:0 -

im about 30 mins from Drogheda, just on the north side of Dundalk
ohh dont talk to be about being obsessed with spuds...and bread in my case!!!
loaf bread, crusty bread, soda bread, potato bread!!!!
i think around 11 stone is grand for you at 5.4, i am 5.6 and im going for 11 stone 12lbs
how much more do you need to loose now? i have 16lbs.0 -
Hi again,
I have 24 pounds to go to get to 11 stone, so I am hoping that before summer time I will get to goal.
I love soda farls, was brought up on irish soda bread, made every day with sour milk by my dad, absolutely yummy!!
Cabbage buttys, spuds mashed, boiled, roasted, chipped, any way I could eat them, in fact my dads pet name for me was ...... SPUD!
My daughter used to do irish dancing for about 12 years, she danced at the World Irish Dancing Championships at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast a few times, she was a beautiful dancer, very talented but gave up just before she was 16 to concentrate on her exams, she wanted good grades so she could get into Uni.
We have medals, cups and trophies galore. My dad died when she was five so he never got to see how successful she became.
I love my Irish heritage.

i would have to say it works....well...i should say,...it seems to hae worked for me...8 months ago my BMI was 41:o:eek::o..and today it is 29 (still overweight i know
)
but im getting there...i do think though, you have to MAKE it work, i follow the Slimming World plan to the letter, and i do LOTS of body magic.
i now walk around 25/30 miles a week, do a water aerobics class once a week, a circuit training class once a week, and i do around 300 / 350 resistance bands exercises a day:eek:
i was mindful with over 6 stone to loose, that would be a lot of loose skin if i didnt keep working at toning it up.
so i think for me it was a 3 way thing, the Xenical, the SW Plan and the exercise....(that and sheer grit and determination and the fact that i really want to shift this weight...i know it wont go on its own.)
i dont have any problems getting the Xenical from my GP, tho i live in N Ireland. HTH
Piglet - that is very impressive.Well done to you. I was watching Dawn French on telly the other day who has lost about 8 stones in well under a year and she reckons she's just eating less and walking her dog. Yeah right! :rotfl::rotfl: I think a surgeon might be involved too because there's no way on this earth you can drop the amount of weight she has in such a short time unless you're doing serious stuff like you describe.
I wish people would just tell the truth because it is very hard losing weight when you are a more mature woman.0 -
VERY STRESSED - OFSTED tomorrow & Friday = rubbish week food wise - stressy tummy
RESCUE REMEDY in the morning :rotfl:
Oh yes by the way WELL DONE LOSERS :A:A:A:AIts not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T
