hoping to get back there asap on my own.
it was hard when i hit target too. i was in a weird situation where i got differing losses/gains regardless of how many HE or syns i had.
Hi evilsquid1603. 8 stone 5 would be the very lowest slimming world online would let me get to as well, is it something to do with BMI's going below 20? When i typed it in online it said my bmi wouldn't be healthy.
Yeah staying at target does seem a bit daunting with adding in more healthy extras etc but last time I was at target I just stopped slimming world completely so would love to prove myself wrong and stick with it this time.0 -
I think that's a great idea evilsquid, I've always avoided weighing at home for much the same reason. When last scales went i decided not to replace them. It is difficult maintaining. Strangely, my problem has been that I've got so used to eating on plan that I went under target. I've now had two weeks with lots of flexi eating out so I hope that'll be sorted at my next WI on Thursday. Good luck with your training for the run!
 newbies, welcome aboard.
in the end i just stopped measuring HE and had as many as i wanted as it never seemed to matter if i did or i didn't. that was prob the start of my downfall from target tbh. once you start getting into non-SW habits like that, adding on extra syns becomes a habit then not counting them at all became a habit then "oh one more drink/proper coke/chocolate/ready meal/takeaway cant hurt!" started creeping in. next thing i knew i was stones over target and my 10km running time had increased in 12 months by 10 mins purely because lugging 2 or 3 extra stones around is much harder work.
SW is brilliant for loosing but they never seemed to come up with an effective "this is how you stay the same" plan bar "just have more HE!".0 -

that was what my consultant told me, allowing me the 3lbs below would take me too close to the underweight BMI for her liking and she wouldn't let me as she didn't think it would be healthy. I've seen people in the magazine at 5ft2 and around 8 stone thou, it really annoys me that there can be so much difference between groups :mad:0 -

that's exactly me! I've generally had a bad week this week but I'm trying not to think about it too much and hoping that I can get back on track tomorrow - it's only 8.30am and I'm already all synned out!Mediterranean Mum
hoping to lose 50lb by February 2013! 2st lost so far :j0 -
Thanks for the reply Piglet, guess it works then as you've done so well!
I'm 5ft 1 and ideally want to be around 8st 5 ish too. Weighed myself just then I'm 10st 2 so a fair bit to go!!The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
Morning All
I have been AWOL for a bit, was busy busy week last week, into Edinburgh on Thursday afternoon for Phsycic Sally and dinner and drinks, then making cakes Friday for DH's 40th party, then the party on Saturday and recovering Sunday, plan was a bit skeewiff, however, I still lost 2.5lbs this week so was well pleased with myself :T:j. Must have been all that Dyno Rod Soup, although it doesn't seem to have the windy or clearing out effect it has on most people :rotfl:.
Hope you are all well, I have not had a chance to read back through the thread, will try my best if boss stays out my way :rotfl:. DH's actual birthday is tomorrow but I will be a good girl and not eat CAKE :A
Todays EE Plan -
B - 1/2 Melon with berries & FF nat yoghurt
L - Dyno Rod Soup, WM roll (HEB) & 2 yellow plums
D - SW Bolognese Bake (1/2 HEA), large salad
S - Prob hot choc & 2 lotus biscuits tonight (5 syns), mullerlight
Rest of HEA will be used for splashed of milk in coffee, just used my last green T Bag:TGratitude is the best Attitude :T

Well first weigh in yesterday 3.5lbs off so 3.5 to go to first half stone.:) Pretty chuffed with myself have been an angel:A Now to keep it up. Have got a little pink book I write every days consumption in, a page a day. Never done this before but now addicted to it. My sister has just asked me to work on her cake stall on Sat so first challenge! Then pub Sat night so saving some syns for it each day is that allowed. Have a fab week everyone.:TTotal weight lost 6.5/73lbs starting yet again. Afds August 10/15. /8 Sept.0

I too am hoping for my 5 stone award tomorrow night, 1.5 pound I need to get off to achieve it. So fingers crossed, if not this week deffo next week.
I dont know about you, but the nearer to target I get, it gets harder to lose, I have been having a few weeks lately losing a couple of pound and then staying the same the week after, it really does nothing for the confidence :rotfl:
Ideally I would like to get to around 11 stone which for me seems to be about right, although the wii says 9 stone 3 pound  I have not been that weight for decades, I need a comfortable weight that I feel I could maintain, and I know that if I got to 9 stone 3 then I would definately be a candidate for the belsen camp!
Keep up the good work x x
i have everything crossed for you for ur 5 stone award for tnite!:D
do you go to a group?
how much more do you need to loose?
i have seen a chart which has my "ideal" weight range from 8.11:eek::eek: (never...no chance!!) and 11.1, so my own personal target is 11.12 for now, if i get any lower, well and good, if i dont, no harm done!
i did have 3 slow weeks in Jan, were even though i had been MEGA good, i only lost 0.5lb, then another 0.5lb, and then despite going home and giving myself a good talking to, and saying it will shift next week.....i had a STS the next week:mad:, but in the 4 weeks that followed i have lost 10.5lbs,:D (see my sig at the bottom)....i just dont know how it all kickstarted again other than i did a few days on the SW Success Express plan and i start doing exercises with the weight bands (resistance bands) so i think one or both of them seems to have kick started it all again, much to my delight, i do exepct it to slow down again as i near target, but hopefully the next 16lbs wont be too hard to shift.
good luck with it all, esp tnite!:A0 -
Totally agree with what mm says sarah. I'm convinced the answer to your motivation has to be in planning. If you have all your meals planned for the week and shop to that plan then it should be much easier to stick to. Try to choose a week when you don't have difficult choices over meals out. Try and have syn free meals (and even HEX free if poss) during the day so you ca 'pig out' on your syns and HEXs in the evening. Plan nice things for that too and try to just not buy things you shouldn't be eating. I was just googling and a recipe for sweet potato wedges with mint and yogurt dip came up. Sounds yummy as a snack and that could be absolutely free!!
Thank you. You're right of course, and in fact we do plan our meals and my husband even cooks half of them. But I've just been on a self-destruction path for a little while. Much better day yesterday, trying to be 100% today. I never seem to be able to make my HEB last into the evening which would be the obvious thing. I do use up my syns in the day; particularly partial to the caramel chocolate bar from Boots that's 5 syns. Sure it's going to pull a filling out eventually though!0 -
jennyjelly wrote: »Piglet and anyone else who is using these, would you mind giving me the benefit of your experience please?
I've been looking at the possibility of getting Orlistat (Xenical) on prescription and from what I can see I would be a suitable candidate as my BMI is 39 and I'm not able to do much in the way of exercise due to health problems. As I see it the Orlistat would give me the extra boost that exercise would if I were able to do it.
Does it work? I'm going to ask my doctor before looking elsewhere, but if he can't or won't prescribe it (we seem to come off very badly in the NHS postcode lottery down here) is it worth buying?
i would have to say it works....well...i should say,...it seems to hae worked for me...8 months ago my BMI was 41:o:eek::o..and today it is 29 (still overweight i know)
but im getting there...i do think though, you have to MAKE it work, i follow the Slimming World plan to the letter, and i do LOTS of body magic.
i now walk around 25/30 miles a week, do a water aerobics class once a week, a circuit training class once a week, and i do around 300 / 350 resistance bands exercises a day:eek:
i was mindful with over 6 stone to loose, that would be a lot of loose skin if i didnt keep working at toning it up.
so i think for me it was a 3 way thing, the Xenical, the SW Plan and the exercise....(that and sheer grit and determination and the fact that i really want to shift this weight...i know it wont go on its own.)
i dont have any problems getting the Xenical from my GP, tho i live in N Ireland. HTH0
