REALLY pleased you're back driving the tank, its been a bumpy few months while you've been gone. Think we lost a few along the way when they fell out the back door, really need to get them hinges fixed :rotfl:

*dizzy quickly wobbles off for the screwdrivers before we lose anyone else:D*

So take it eazy and let us help motivate you just like you have done for us :A:A:A:A:A:A

Thankyou guys for your lovely messages :A Its been a horrible couple of months, and Xmas was probably the most emotionaly draining time i've ever had to deal with (MIL dealing with her last few weeks & my mum in hosp while they were trying to get her stable enough to operate :()

Prior to this I had vowed that I wouldnt be buying any 'naughty' foods in blah blah blah and I really had my focussed head on........but the food fairies really got to me and I just reached straight for the usual suspects - white bread sandwiches, biscuits, choccie bars :o
apart from Xmas Day at Sis in Laws I don't think I ate a 'proper cooked dinner':o Hey Ho - Like you say sometimes - no matter how committed you are to the weight loss cause, life just chucks a little too much at you to handle all at once and something has to give;)

BUT ive decided that even though i'm still having a certain amount of stress to deal with.... the bulk of it is over (for now) so today I start getting a grip!!! I made a big pan of tomato/veggie/bean soup last night - not quite Dyno Rod soup as I didnt have all the ingredients, but its a start :T and I have a big bag of tangerines staring at me (Ive kept buying a bag every week, but being very UN Mse and letting them go mouldy:()

I ate the last lonely mars bar in the fridge last night and I'm back now at the wheel of the tank smiley-transport011.gif :j:j I need to get back to 10st where I was before we went to Cuba (God so much has happened that Cuba seems a lifetime ago now :o)
  • Hi everyone,

Hi Dizzy, I'm new here and just wanted to say hello and sorry to hear you have had such a bad time.

Right, another day at work. Already resisted the white bread toast and cheesy goodies colleagues were having :)

Did add syns last night in the form of a bag of french fries (4.5) and a mini 15g bar of green and blacks choc (4.5 I believe).

    Today-

B-1.5 weetabix (HEB) and Milk (HEA)
L-Veg rice off trolley at work so unsure of syn value
T-Baked potato with beans. Syn for botter (6.5g packet=2/3 syns)
Last night swapped this for meat free raviolli at 1.5 syns for tin and veg.

May add philly cheese on ryvitta or a syn treat when home from work.

Hope everyone else enjoying a nice chilled sunday x

Great to see you back dizzy, so sorry to hear about all your stresses. I'm amazed you're still expected to do dog-sitting!

I don't think half a stone is too bad considering and good to know you're getting back on the tank. Have you had your new books yet?

beki, I think I read it as you're going to start at a group then take a week off for DD's birthday. You need to book that week as a holiday in advance otherwise you'll be asked to pay even though you're not there. Obviously, you could do SW by making different food for yourself and the family (lots do) but if you can make SW substitutes that your DS will eat then all the better.

I've decided I don't want to go into next weight bracket down so am in envious position of eating extra syns to get back to target range. I don't want to go off plan completely and all my usual meal plans are SW friendly as are most of the foods I have in. I'm just having extra toast or the odd chocolate bar or eating off-plan when I'm out.

    Today's EE plan:

B: NAS squash, HEB toast, HEA milk for teas, baked beans, bacon
    L: vegetable soup
D: roast lamb (without all visible fat removed:p), stuffing, roasties, parsnips, cabbage, carrots, gravy

    Syns: wine, gravy, stuffing

Also planning to make a pot of Delia's red cabbage (has some brown sugar in it) unless anyone has a syn free recipe?
  • Hi everyone hope you've had/are having a good weekend. Hi Dizzy "taking my hat off to you" - you are a very special person round these parts - your very well known and well respected and I admire you for what you've been through and having to cope with.

I've not had the greatest weekend, especially after having a great week and I've decided to change my WI day as part of my problem with the weekend is stressing out about WI on Monday morning. I'm going to change to Thursday or Friday so that if I do go overboard at the weekend it gives me some time to make up for it. Every week I see the scale go down during the week but by the time WI comes around it's back up again which is really really disheartening.

Have a good week everyone and I'm hoping to be over this slump by the end of the day!

Good idea mm. Thursday WI works really well for me. Friday is probably even better but no class then. You'll have several days to get back on plan after a synful weekend. It's particularly good for me as I'm a 'save our syns (for weekends)' person.
  • Dizzy - great to see you back posting - I managed to put on 8lbs over Christmas without your stress levels!;)

Magnolia - glad you had a good Christmas! Good to see you back with us - and congrats on your DS's engagement!

I am just nomming some homemade no syn butternut squash soup - I have made it slightly too spicy this time!:o

Magnolia - what part of York are you? (I may have asked before - I've a brain like a sieve at the moment!)
    :jFlylady and proud of it:j
  • OMG peeps (and talking of nomming CY) have I got a soup for you -

    Cauliflower & Lentil Soup

    Frylight
    1 large onion, chopped
    1 teaspoon crushed garlic
    1 teaspoon cumin
    1/2 teaspoon turmeric
3 cups cauliflower florets (fresh or frozen)
6 cups chicken stock (3 Knorr cubes to 6 cups water)
    2 bay leaves
    1/2 cup red lentils
    Pinch dried chilli flakes (optional)
1 teaspoon each salt and sweetener
    1 cup milk
    Squeeze of lemon juice
Chopped coriander OR parsley OR chives to garnish

1: Toss onion and garlic for a few minutes in Frylight.
2: Stir in cumin and turmeric then add cauliflower and toss until coated in spices.
3: Add remaining ingredients except milk & lemon juice and simmer 25 minutes.
4: Remove bay leaves, add milk and blend till smooth.
5: Add a squeeze of lemon juice and serve garnished with fresh herbs

I made this at the weekend used Frylight and sweetener instead of oil and sugar and OMG it was absolute heaven - so delicious.

no I'm not in a position to be able to get back to group just yet :( MrD won't be able to drive for a couple of weeks (at least) when he eventually gets home so thats me scuppered for getting down from up there with the doggies to group:o depending how long he is 'out of action' I might have to resort to taking a taxi....but thats going to be around £12 each way  its times like this i really really get angry at having my brain surgery etc and being a wobbly cow whos not on the road anymore (virtual tank driving being the exception of course:rotfl:)

Well I've not had too bad a weekend so far; yesterday I had a couple of boiled eggs for breakfast; fruit for snacks then made Tomato & roasted red pepper soup which I had for lunch and tea. The soup was mainly SF with 2 veg stock cubes & a tattie to thicken it. I also made the smash pizza base and had that with tomato puree, mushrooms and a wee bit of grated cheddar - it was lush!. It was very strange last night sitting with a huge mug of black coffee rather than a huge glass of wine! OH came back from the pub with a huge pizza and chips but I managed to resist while him and the kids tucked into it - I hope it's worth it tomorrow on the scales

Today I had melon for breakfast but didn't really fancy any more soup for lunch even though there's loads left so I reduced some of it down, added a wee splash of natural fat free yoghurt and used it as a pasta sauce - yum yum yum. I'm gonna boil a gammon this afternoon for tea and I'll have it with mash and loads of veg - I'll make gravy, roasties and yorkshire puds for the reat of the family but I'm not fussed on them.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow!! Good luck everyone.

  • Hi everyone,

Not been on here for a while but it's time to get going with the weight loss again!

That cauliflower soup looks fab, I'll be trying that!

I've just made a quick and easy one pot meal - Chicken and Pepper Biryani http://www.morrisons.co.uk/food-and-drink/Recipes/Index/C/Chicken-and-pepper-Byriani-/

It's nice and easy to make sw friendly - just swap the oil for FL and syn the curry paste!
