And thank you for the mexican bake recipe, it was delish, only had 1/4 of it on its own as there are plenty SF foods in recipe to counteract the Free foods. Think next time I will try adding some extra lean mince, hubby came in at 9.30 last night and asked what I had made as it smelled lovely, so I told him and he asked for some (he likes his meat and it was all veg so I didn't think he would try it) so rest for lunch and dinner today, none left to freeze :rotfl:

    B - Berries & FF Onken
L - Mexican Bake (HEA), Apple, kiwi, plum
    D - Mexican Bake (HEA)
S - snacks throguhout the day, strawberrries, grapes, blueberries, mullerlight

Just had a thought, re the mexican bake, do I syn one of these portions for the cheese, per portion the cheese quantity is 33.75g

Glad you enjoyed it. I ate exactly like that two days ago and worked out that it's basically a green day so therefore you're allowed 2 x HEA.

Hi all, just signed up to SW last night, had a read through the books and I am a little baffled by it all.
We have a little boy with autism so I have a 4 week "rota" for food (go back to week one after week 4) so I would like to keep that as close as possible but trying to figure out what will need changing is confusing me. I've forgot most of what was said in the new member talk like about pasta sauces, noodles, muller lights, etc. Hope it gets easier! Haha anyway nice to meet you all.

Welcome beki. I don't think you'll have a major problem adapting your meal plan to SW. I'd say the main difference is using frylight rather than oil and also cooking from scratch if you were in the habit of buying any processed foods. Just ask away and we'll all try to help.

evilsquid, I was interested in your take on how to use syns. I'm a 'save syns for the weekend' sort of person except (as you said) for sauces and gravies. I've always stuck to making my own and I reckon that a tbsp of cornflour shared with DH isn't going to make a huge difference.

    EE today:
B: NAS squash, HEB toast, HEA milk for teas, egg, bacon, mushrooms
L: piece of toast, pear, banana?? (not hungry really)
D: baked haddock, cauli cheese, SW chips
    Syns: weekend wine:j cheese sauce

Thank you for replying :) I do try to cook from scratch but like I say with my little boy having autism and I have a 2 year old I do tend to resort to some ready meals or jars. My DS fave is homepride pasta bake but the syn value is crazy (17 and 22.5) but that does say for a 500g jar so already worrying about how to adapt!
I haven't been shopping yet so don't have anything suitable in to eat today so already being naughty but as soon as I know what I am buying my cupboards will be stocked :)

Everything will be ok in the end, and if it isn't ok then it isn't the end :)

Went to WI last night and after a week of eating really well and staying on plan I lost a measley stinking 1/2 lb. I did exactly the same as last week when I lost 4lb, so I really don't understand it. I know your first weeks loss is normally high but I really thought I'd still lose probably 2lbs if I carried on the same. Gutted!
Oh dear, here we go again.
  • Have only just come across this board. I have been doing SW for almost 3 weeks now and have lost 2lb each weigh in.

Beki i have found you can make your own homepride style sauce if you use passata, herbs and low fat philadelphia it makes a creamy tomato sauce that you can use with pasta or anything else.

Well done JJ on your loss - no matter how small, it's still a loss. I agree it's terribly disheartening but if we think that this is going to be a quick fix it's not. We're meant to be re-educating ourselves so that this is the way we'll eat for life not just until we lose the weight. Keep with it and try not to get too despondent.

hi all and welcome to the newbies

i know the frustrations of you all who are saying you are sticking to it - and the weight is not coming off  frustrating!

I was so frustrated i have had a few days off - fell off the wagon tuesday/wednesday, talked to my consultant yesterday who has also text to keep me on track - and have started filling in my online diary again yesterday and stayed on plan. today i am trying but failing.........
b: bagel & peanut butter (took 6 syns off for bread) = 6.5
    l: soup + quavers = 4.5
d: am planning to make some home-made carrot soup - save me synning/heb the tinned stuff

it is my birthday monday - got all the family coming tomorrow - doing pizza's for the kids with fruit and cupcakes for pud, and a SW recipe (leg of lamb in SW mag but with pork instead) with new potatoes for all the adults. Have a yummy birthday cake so will syn 1 portion and stick to just that (i hope!!!)

I'm gutted that it has taken me so long this week to stick with the programme as I now expect to put on this week - but i will go to WI monday and face the music :(

    off to peel carrots now!

    good eating everyone, saidan

  • well done to all the losers!

I'm starting to get a bit nervous for my consultant interview next thurs now. i keep stressing on wether or not to wear a suit or if they're going to be one of those companies that expects to see the "real" you :S also a bit worried I'm going to end up dropping myself in it and saying that most of my consultants are below what i'd expect and i can do it better. if they ask me anything about what ideas i have for my group i also don't know how they'll take me saying i want to concentrate on doing other things in image therapy like dealing with genuine problems on plan that will help the whole group then discussing things like emotional issues over eating and how to deal with stress, how to get a good nights sleep, going out to parties and staying on plan, how to minimise takeaway damage etc.

its 1/2 pound in the right direction! for anyone that gets disheartened at smaller losses, one pound a week is 4 stone in a year. as you've done 4 pound and a half pound your already on track to loose more in 12 months. it all adds up!

DH doesn't like salmon or sauce with it so i have to eat mine to myself. i make it in small portions and use 2 syns worth of butter for the roux and a teaspoon of flour with HEA milk. my first consultant told me to count 4.5 per portion.

i also cant bring myself to make the SW sausages. i know i'll just eat it going "its just not richmond!" so i may as well just have one proper sausage and use 5 syns for it.
  • Quickie idea- just saw on a cookery show about making a 'panini' using portobello mushrooms instead of bread. She took out the stalk then cut the mushrooms in half horizontally (like a bagel!). Filled with cheese and sun dried tomatoes, but I'm obviously going
To use cooked bacon! Looked like something really tasty and a bit different anyway :)

I have been going to SW for 3 weeks now and have lost 9lbs overall. I don't have a great deal to lose but am impressed with how much you can eat and still lose weight.

We had a consultant from another area come to group and she had lost a total of 12 stone , and has kept it off for 10 years. Her biggest ever weight loss in one week was 2lb, which really spurred me on as 2lb sounds so little, yet added up it can make a huge difference.

Weigh in tomorrow....good luck to everybody.
