:T Great news on the loss Cloverfan.
I can't really say on how many syns to have as I'm only just back to SW, but when I did it before I would use my syns, though probably not all of them everyday.
Diets are hard work and it's easy to feel like your missing out, my old consultant used to say that it was importamnt to treat yourself now and again, whether that was a Dime Bar (my mouth is watering!), a glass or two of wine, butter on your toast or something else.
I lost over 2 st last time and occasionally had chocolate, so if you want it, have it, but not everyday...I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions...0 -
Bah, sabotaged by hubby!
Had a great syn free day, came home to make nice SW friendly meal to discover hubby had nipped to pizza express on way home and bought 2 large pizzas!!!
I ate it as it was expensive, said thank you it was lovely but I must warn you if you do that again I won't eat it.
Bless him, he knew I'd had a long day and he was being nice but kinda wrecked my good work. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -

Mine isn't until Tuesday, I'm resisting the temptation to weigh at home.
Sorry about tempting everyone with Dome bars, as choc goes they aren't bad at 7.5 syns. I didn't have one btw!
Good luck tomorrow0 -
On plan day for a change :j
Syns are there to be used, I got to target using 15 a day [mostly] so yes use at least 5 a day, more if you want to.
I also practically lived on pasta and still got to target so all green works too.Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

Totally agree tie, I got to target on 15 syns a day too although not at 2lbs a week (more like 1.5). I'd suggest thinking of syns as treats/things to be eaten in moderation only. So by all means have chocolate but have other treats too. I think if you have the same one every day it could become like part of your eating plan and that wouldn't be a very good idea.
I'm in envious position of getting to target and struggling to maintain as I keep losing more. I'm still having mostly SW meals at home but having some extras too.0 -
Well done MM - That shows Real control to go to dinner and not go for the calorie laded treats.
Can anyone help me with some worries please
This is only my 2nd week of SW, but after years of other diets I am so scared it will stop working (even though I lost an amazing 7 lb the first week)
Because of this I never eat all my syns. Tonight I have 7 left and would love a Dime bar, but I worry that if I eat chocolate I won't lose weight.
For those who have done SW for a while can I really have 10 syns a day, and still see good results?
I would really like to lose 2-3 pound this week.
last time i did it i used my syns up and did green days and got to target. i was loosing 1 pound a week but i didn't have that much to loose that time. i was also one of the few consistent losers there.
syns are there to be used so that you don't feel completely deprived and will therefore stick with it. it helps stop cravings too because of you want it, you can have it. also i find if someone tells me i cant eat this, thats the only thing i want to eat so telling me chocolate is out will ultimately lead to days of craving and then a family size dairy milk or a tub of ben and jerrys which is much worse than just having a treat size bar when i wanted it.
also, i use my syns for the things i don't want to give up and help you feel you aren't on a "diet" as such like making proper sauces for fish/steak or having the odd proper sausage here and there, butter with a jacket potato etc.
all the groups I've been to have got it into their heads thats meals must be completely free/HE, one or two syn max if the magazine says so and that syns were for a curly wurly a day or not to be used and saved up for a blowout on friday. they'd then moan at image therapy that they felt they were eating the same things all the time and were bored with it. when my last consultant was talking about this, the group thought it was blasphemous when i said i used syns to make a proper fish sauce with butter and flour in with HEA milk rather than a caramel a day.0
