    OXtail

I have some oxtail in the freezer,I would like to make into a meal for tommorrow or the weekend, but it has lots of fatty connective tissue. Is there any way I could use this in a slimming world recipe? How/ can i use it,any ideas?Ps I do have a slow cooker.

Thanks for that, I don't like sweetcorn, baked beans or tomatoes :rotfl:but am sure all mixed in together it will be lovely, is this free on EE if counting cheese as HEA as there will be more that one portion?

I don't like tinned mushrooms MP but used like this they are fine and I'm sure the sweetcorn and tomatoes will be too. The baked beans might be a problem as there are a lot of them!!!! It's one of those recipes that you can easily substitute although the beans are an integral part of it. I got to this particular recipe as the other one had ingredients that I didn't have in the house at the time!

The recipe makes 4 servings so the cheese is free if counted as HEA or 6 syns if not.

    Enjoy!

Can you trim the fat off? If so it should be easy to adapt any Oxtail recipe. If you can't, you might have to add a few syns. Is it actually fat or sinew? Sinew is probably less synful, if you see what I mean. Tails in my imagination are sinewy not fatty!

Hi all, seems to be a lot of positive feeling on the board today! Well done losers.

Ok, my dilemma. I have to go for a meal at Pizza Hut at the weekend (not my choice of venue but an event I can't get out of). What should I choose?

if you want pixxa, the best one according to my food directory is a medium edge veggie pizza sliced into 16 at 4.5 per slice. a medium margherita is 15 per slice and medium pepperoni is 17.5 per slice.

salad bar tomato pasta is 0.5 on green.

if i was going there, id just do flexible syns and share a thin crust medium pizza with lots of SF or F toppings like veggies and ham with someone and then raid the salad bar. if everyone else has massive pizzas and you are there with some lettuce and a measly bowl of pasta you'll feel awful and left out.

Thanky you! I am going to cook it in the slowcooker with just water as I think it is quite flavouful, then leave it in a tall narrowish container and skim off the fat.

I suppose that depends on how you eat when you're out Evilsquid. Personally I could never sit and eat a pizza in a restaurant or in front of anyone cos I'd know they were saying - "no wonder she's so fat, look at her stuffing her mouth with pizza" - so actually for me to eat salad bar and pasta wold be a problem but you're right some people might feel really left out.

Not sure I could stop at one slice of pizza though - with or without salad!

    hi all

PIZZA- pizza hut do a 500cal pizza - either chicken, prawn or veggie i think. it tastes nice and has a no-dressing salad with it. =25syns (but only 500cals so the size of a normal meal eg batchelors pasta n sauce which is free!)
i always used to have that.
and fill up on the free salads stuff - beetroot, toms, cuc etc = but avoid the bacon bits, crutons & creamy pasta's.
ENJOY it whatever you decide to go for = if i don't order pizza i end up eating dh's or the kids anyways.

ammonite - i did a week of green last week with pasta/potato every day - and STS (only 70syns for the week)
lots of people say a week of green bloats them and they don't loose - red is better i think.

i'm aiming to get back on plan without obsessing - have had a tuna sarnie for lunch (but dh says 2 tbsp mayo), and pk of quavers. so that makes me red today - but planning soup for tea. I sos text my consultant yesterday and she rang me and was realy lovely in helping me focus after i lost the plot and had a cake pig out (now suffering though as my stomach is killing me)

    good eating everyone

  • Hi everyone,

    Here's today

    B was-FF activia
L-HM soup. Pasta with HM tom sauce and sprinke of cheese (HEA)
S (tea not till 8.30 due to OH) Houmous and carrot sticks (HEB)
D-Going to attempt a no syn veg and chickpea curry, with some cashews (HEB). Seen an idea about wizzing down some cauli with stock and curry powder to a smooth sauce??!! Think might give it a go-any other ideas welcome! Will have with a lovely pile of rice.

OK, so I didnt own any scales and bought some yesterday. I was just over 90kg when I got weighed elsewhere on Monday, with these new scales I'm weighing in at 87.4kg. So, obviously this is down a discrepancy between scales, but hopefully a little bit of it may be down to a little loss-fingers crossed!! So Thursday will be my WI day if I decide to go it online. I was hungry yesterday, and did end up having a small handful of salted cashews with my glass of wine, know I had syns just about but still not good, so tried to put better food intake in today.

Frogga, good for you. You are much healthier and lighter than when you started, and you know you, so I think it deserves a lot of respect that you recognise this now and aren't going out and binging on all the bad stuff. Good luck.

Have a great day to all!
