Heading for winter with Slimming World

debsjc Don't feel guilty. The syns are there, as already said, for you to indulge a little. When I first did slimming world, the consultant I had used to say if you were a choccie person (which I'm not, but lots were) keep curly wurlys in, because they are relatively low syned, and last a long time, which makes the body think it's had a lot of choclate :-) Don't be frightened of the diet, enjoy it. Sometimes we do get little or no weight loss, but it does kick back in again, and it's usually our body metabolism that's being a 'pain' rather than the diet not working.
Alot of the people on here post there meal plans, have a go at doing that, and your syns, then some would tell you if you were going over a bit :-)
xA work in progress0 -
I agree about the syns though I have to admit that I am a save them up for the weekend girl. I have cut my boozing back to 1 night per week but I do enjoy red wine so I tend to minimise syns (usually zero) through the week and drink a bottle or so of red wine on a Sat night guilt free.
My downfall is chocolate - I am like some kind of crazed cookie monster on it; I had such a horrendous chocolate habit that I went cold turkey on 8th Jan (day before I started at SW) and haven't had any since. the first week was horrendous but I'm fine now though I know that if I had even a lick of a small piece I would be in binge mode and eat everything that's in the house. We still have loads of chocolate in the house from Christmas but I don't grudge my kids and OH it as it's me that has the problem with it and can't control it not them so why should they suffer.
Anyway, after that long rambling post OH and I are off to a 21st tonight so tonight will be syn night with gin and slimline tonic (or gin & Diet Irn Bru if no slimline tonic); think I'll make a big pasta bake and have a load of that before I go so I can keep away from the buffet table - wish me luck!!Mortgage Aug 22 £280,000
Current mortgage £28,0000 -
Well done MM - That shows Real control to go to dinner and not go for the calorie laded treats.
Can anyone help me with some worries please
This is only my 2nd week of SW, but after years of other diets I am so scared it will stop working (even though I lost an amazing 7 lb the first week)
Because of this I never eat all my syns. Tonight I have 7 left and would love a Dime bar, but I worry that if I eat chocolate I won't lose weight.
For those who have done SW for a while can I really have 10 syns a day, and still see good results?
I would really like to lose 2-3 pound this week.
I think it all depends on who you are, how much you want to lose and where you are in your weight loss journey.......
I am in the middle of trying to lose 7 stone - 5 have gone and there are about 2 to go! Last summer I would quite happily have a freddo bar fairly regularly. I never went over my sins but i did use them all - regularly!
Six months later i have less of a taste for chocolate - I did have a square of something delightful from the Cadbury shop last Saturday - it was 3 syns - but i was perfectly content with just the 1 square. I have been doing S/W for 18 months now and I am well into the way of thinking....and I do love my fruit and veg!
The syns are there so you don't feel deprived! So use them! A loss of 1-2lbs a week is fairly healthy - but some people lose more and some lose at a much slower rate! If you really want the DIME bar then have it - - if you deprive yourself then you are much more likely to fall off the wagon!
Congrats on your first week's loss!:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -

Not expecting a loss, probably a gain me thinks but can't be helped. An emotional time has ensued as Bruv is contesting dads will [sort of, too complicated to explain] and has broken the family apart. Big melt down by my sister and after a sleepless night for me, I then had a couple of meltdowns at work. Families eh, who'd have em
Just wanted to say (((hugs)))) and am sure the tag rugby will burn a bit offMediterranean_Mum wrote: »Yeah - I survived the Italian restaurant! I had exactly what I planned - a salad to start with techina dressing on the side (there was half the quantity left when I'd finished which would never have happened in the past) and then penne with tomato, pepper and aubergine sauce - not what I would have ideally had but the best on the menu for me and I was stuffed at the end.
Thanks to everyone who helped me through the decision process.
And thank you for the mexican bake recipe, it was delish, only had 1/4 of it on its own as there are plenty SF foods in recipe to counteract the Free foods. Think next time I will try adding some extra lean mince, hubby came in at 9.30 last night and asked what I had made as it smelled lovely, so I told him and he asked for some (he likes his meat and it was all veg so I didn't think he would try it) so rest for lunch and dinner today, none left to freeze :rotfl:Well done MM - That shows Real control to go to dinner and not go for the calorie laded treats.

I too am only on my second week and am just finding my feet really, I think what works for others may not work for you, last week I had loads of syns left but ended up using a lot over the weekend and only lost 0.5lb, but TOTM may have been a factor in that, so I will see how I have went this week when I weigh myself on Monday, I have not been doing my normal lunchtime walk as knee is very painful ATM. Good luck and hope you find a happy medium soon.
I had a bit of a blow out with DH last night before he came home and ate a full bounty and drank a bottle of winefeel really awful this morning, I have synned them and not gone over the weekly total but so annoyed with myself, I am going to attempt a walk at lunchtime and see how my knee holds out
Todays menu

morning folks,
im doing day 2 of success express (consultant recommended it after my losses slowed....then stopped) so i did tues, will do today, and then sunday as well, weigh in Monday
so..the 2/3rds SF...
I am going to have breakfast soon....
would a muller lite and a SW Cereal bar with a banana, apple and an orange be ok?
for lunch, another SW Cereal bar, another muller, and a lot of fruit, grapes, strawberries etc.
then for dinner tnite, SW syn free burgers, with A LOT of salad (no bap, i know ur allowed 2 HEs on Success Express but i was going to keep my 2nd one for later on tnite, when i usually have my syns, i might have a hifi bar, or tea and toast, so that will leave me with few few syns today)
does this sound ok?0 -
Thanks for all the advice. I do find writing out my food diary to hand in at class, and posting it here helps. It helps me not 'forgot' anything I've had like a couple of sugar free sweets.
When i am not dieting I am a chocoholic, but in general I find it easier to cut out totally than just have a tiny bit. However Dimes for some reason don't give me that 'I need more chocolate' feeling, I think because they have the crisp toffee centre, not all chocy.
Last night I had a SW hi-fi light choc & caramel bar instead, for 3 syns, and it was really nice and satisfied my sweet craving. I also find the SW choc mousse, and low cal jellies excellent for that.
I'm a late shift today, so just about to make a half-syn cake so there is something nice and filling waiting when I get in tonight. I have dinner at 6pm at work, and always get back home about 11pm absolutely starving and ready for another meal!
Kandfs mam - I hope you have a good night out, and it all goes to plan0 -
my mum just called me to say our actifry was delivered today
cant wait to get home for some SYN FREE CHIPS:j
Does anyone have one can recommend any dishes etc? it comes with a USB with recipies on it!
we have bought a big one between the 2 of us, so we can share it
I have an actifry.. its fab!! We regularly have chips, tried roast potatoes last week and also have diced potato with aromat/herbs on them and they taste like F&B seasoned potatoes. I havent tried any meat items yet but you're meant to be able to cook it in there.
I noticed someone had tried empanadas (?) in there from the US i think.. obviously not very SW but if you like that sort of thing it's a darn site healthier than deep frying.
Enjoy xMediterranean_Mum wrote: »Yeah - I survived the Italian restaurant! A really big well done Med mum - :Tevilsquid1603 wrote: »i found the chocolate philadelphia. its really nice! like a thick choccy mousse crossed with chocolate cheesecake. if this end up being a HE i will be cartwheeling down the street :rotfl:
Ohhh can't wait i'm off to the shop on the way home.. i think it's 4 syns per 30g according to our consultant..
Well i've been working non stop this week so i've been at the mercy of the OH and food.. needless to say i had the same problem as Guns and ended up with fish and chips one nightI'll be happy if i STS this week because of it. I'm just trying not to let it derail me at the moment....
Tonight i shall be trying the scone recipe as a pizza base... counting it as free as it's part of a main meal.

Can anyone tell me how much the hifi bars in class cost? Because I'm online I don't get access to any (I think this is very unfair!) and ordered some off ebay - they're really nice, but with postage they were quite pricey.0

Hi all, just signed up to SW last night, had a read through the books and I am a little baffled by it all.
We have a little boy with autism so I have a 4 week "rota" for food (go back to week one after week 4) so I would like to keep that as close as possible but trying to figure out what will need changing is confusing me. I've forgot most of what was said in the new member talk like about pasta sauces, noodles, muller lights, etc. Hope it gets easier! Haha anyway nice to meet you all.
Everything will be ok in the end, and if it isn't ok then it isn't the end0
