    Hi everyone,

Hope you've all had a good day. Have been reading with interest some of the recipes and methods on here. Was quite excited by Cheese scones, until I read the most recent comments that they're not actually free :(

    So, here's me for today:

B Fruit Bran Cereal (HE B), Pear, Coffee (always black)
    S Coffee, apple
L Pasta n Sauce Chick & Mush, Pear
S 25g sliced ham (about 0.25 of a HE B) and VLF spready cheese
D Egg, SW chips & beans

6 syns - 175ml dry white wine (might even use 12 syns) :D

Medmum; I hope you have a wonderful time at the restaurant and enjoy whatever you end up eating!

Fast Forward sounds intruiging... does anyone know more?

Good luck to anyone with WI today

I have seen a few SW plans called Fast forward on the net, but they all talk of being allowed "units" of food, is that right?

    http://www.slimming4all.com/7-day-kick-start-diet/

is this it? it does say 7 day kcik start, tho when you read down it does say, fast forward?

no i don't think that it is - similar but the fast forward is not quite as complicated - see its so secret we don't really have a clue

medmum - go to your meal and have what you fancy - it is 1 meal out of 21, and not likely to do much damage. eat in moderation what you want. then go home and eat the SW way again :)

    Evening ladies,

Thanks for the advice, I've taken it all on board  I MUST vary what I eat as I really do stick to the same old stuff :o

I've been thinking about this all day. I have decided that if I had to chose either

    a) to stay the same weight forever and not lose another lb, but carry on eating as much as I do now or

    b) cut down and watch what I eat with regard to free foods and lose more weight, then I'd rather stay as I am.

Will let you know what happens next WD on March 1st , good luck all

    xxx

I have been wondering about this too. I seem to be eating a lot of the superfree foods especially. I have only had 2 weigh ins so will need to see how it goes, but really feel I am eating loads. I am quite a binge eater too.

    Today I have eaten:

    B. porridge, mixed berries 0% fat yoghurt
    snacks: apple and a banana
    L. Chicken curry and rice with a large portion of cooked frozen mixed veg stirred in. Grapes
    D. 2 slices cold roast beef (no visible fat) a huge mound of cabbage and 2 carrots. Gravy made from 2 teaspoons of bisto

When I went to sw the consultant had a plate which showed a third super free. Should I have limited the cabbage and carrots more or is ok as I am not having potatoes? Any advice much appreciated.
  • Thanks for the feedback and support everyone - I'll let you know tomorrow night how it went. Saidan, I'm scared to just sit back and enjoy it as I really want to get the weight off that I put on this week so it's important that I make sensible choices but I can enjoy salad and pasta so I don't feel as if I'm doing myself out of anything (I don't think!).

I've had another great day today although I feel like I've been eating the whole day and actually feel really bloated this evening - I think it's all the baked beans from the left over Mexican Bake that's done it!

So this is what it looked like today -

    Wednesday 1 February 2012
    S-banana
    B-L/O Mexican Bake (HEA)
    L-Mexican Bake (HEA)
    S-banana, persimmon; 2 slices w/m bread, 2 hard-boiled eggs, 1 tblspn light mayo (HEB) , 2 syns
D-Noodles with stir-fried mangetout, green beans, sweetcorn, mushrooms, onions, peppers
    Mediterranean Mum

hoping to lose 50lb by February 2013! 2st lost so far :j

Another bad day, not madly synned just not on plan although hopefully the hour & half running [yes RUNNING, ME!!] around making a fool of myself at tag rugby this evening and freezing my !!!! off , will have burnt a bit of it off. Not expecting a loss, probably a gain me thinks but can't be helped. An emotional time has ensued as Bruv is contesting dads will [sort of, too complicated to explain] and has broken the family apart. Big melt down by my sister and after a sleepless night for me, I then had a couple of meltdowns at work. Families eh, who'd have em :(
Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

if you have website access theres an article on this somewhere, and they say:

"You might be disappointed to hear that they’re not. Because changing the use of a food can make it easier to over-eat, to protect your weight loss they become Synned.

When foods like pasta, rice and grains are used in their original form they’re low in energy density (calories), bulky, appetite-satisfying foods. Pasta, couscous and rice are usually the main ingredient in a meal packed with other Free Foods – giving it sufficient bulk to be satisfying as a meal in itself. However, when ground down, used as flour (like in couscous cake), seasoned crisps (like Doritos) or pur!ed (like smoothies) they’re often used as additions to a main meal… and on top of your day’s Syns. It is a very effective way of adding a lot of extra calories in a non-bulky way, and as such would then be counted as Syns."

they also say scan bran cake is not 1 syn per slice:

    "
    • 5 Scan Bran can be counted as 1 Healthy Extra ‘b’ choice or 1 Syn per slice.
    • If you’ve counted some of the Scan Bran you’ve used as a Healthy Extra, it will need counting as Syns once it’s cut up – unless you’re eating the lot!
    • As well as the Scan Bran, most recipes call for cocoa, spread, milk, jam, etc. which all add up.
    • If someone else has made the delicious Scan Bran delight, and you’re not sure of the Syns, ask for a copy of the recipe. They’ll be delighted that you love it so much, and you can feel confident that you’re keeping within your 15 Syns… even with a slice of cake!
    "

    Thanks for this evilsquid..

Again i think this is a common sense thing.. people will make a cake using cous cous and eat it all claiming "it's free" and not understand why they're not losing weight. I think SW have introduced this rule of abusing foods to limit this sort of behaviour.

However they also advocate making pizza's from instant mash, surely this is the same as you are substituting it for flour, yet this is free (it can still be used to snack on rather than a meal)

If you having one scone as a snack then i don't see why you would need to count them, however if you are making the whole batch and eating them in one sitting then, yes, this is "abusing the system" and maybe your weight loss is going to slow.

  • back from WI, I've maintained the pound i put on last week but i expected it to be much much worse AND i ate a big tea before i went because i was feeling faint and didn't want to risk waiting til nearly 9pm to eat so I'm happy.

went to a new group but i don't know if i'll go again. the consultant hadn't bought the yellow boards or even attempted to make her own so it all looked a bit sad and bare. image therapy was also another "you've put on one. was it expected?" "yes" "ok then, so and so has lost a pound!". no discussions or recipes. you kind of feel like you've wasted the fiver just to have someone tell you whats just been written in your book.

back to the website to find yet another group to try next week!
