  • I've bouth 4 pairs of cords in the fatface sale - 2 pairs of 14's and 2 of 12's.

The 14's I can fasten, although 2 or 3 more pounds off will make them more comfy.... but I am delighted to report that I can get the 12's over my hips and I'm not too far off fastening them!:j:j

Time to brave the crosstrainer lying idle in the garage I think...

Well done, what a wonderful incentive....I've never dared go into the fat face shop but it looks soooo good! How exciting that the 12's are almost there....bet you'll be trying them on weekly! :T

I tried to make a SW weetabix cake for my weight management friends on my b'day but it wouldn't cook, was sloppy in the middle and I eventually put it on the fire. I am not sure if I did something wrong but I was a Home Ec teacher so usually know what I am doing.

Can anyone recommend a low syn cake I could make for next week? We meet on Thursdays. I am not a sweet eater but all the ladies at the group are keen cake and pudding eaters and are all in their 70s so I thought I would treat them.

bad news on my weight too. I didn't go to WI but on my scales which are the same as the hospital I put on 7lbs!!

How about a homemade pavlova? You can make meringue using "fake" sugar though it is much lighter and more fragile than real meringue. Make it a big flattish plate-size shape, cook slowly, then when cool (or at class) fill it with loads of lovely chopped fruit and some of the more luxurious fat free fruity yoghurt. that would be very-low- syn-to-syn-free
    :jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j

    thank you Slimming World!
  • don't forget, pretty much every single athlete in the olympic games in summer will have a BMI of obese. as do professional rugby players. what SW measures people on is fine for people who do little to moderate exercise but when you start doing it properly like big runs, triathlons, weight and resistance training etc, then the BMI and simply how much you weigh is a completely useless measure to you.

i bet when i go to group in two months time i'll look completely different to how i do now, even if i only have a small loss in comparison to the woman who just got her gold body magic award from walking a bit during the week. i may have only "lost" 4.5 pounds but I've spent all day yanking up my jeans because i couldn't walk 50m without them falling down again. the last time they were like this was when my weight was a stone lighter than the weight i am now, yet they are looser on me now i'm heavier.

my fitness measures are my running PBs and circuit repetitions. the first time i ran 2.4km it took me 24 mins, my best ever is 3km in 19mins. i can gauge from my distance and time where i am on that scale and what i need to do to improve. i used to die after 1 womans press up, now i can knock out 15 before i die. when my pt pushed me i did 35. 35! no mater what my consultant tells me about exercise meaning nothing and that I've basically just stuffed myself with syned food this week, i can smile and nod at her ramblings and accusations because i know i have NSVs from the gym and my jeans.

Wow you really are an inspiration...I don't even know what PBs and circuit repetitions are!! :D:o

Just re glanced your post and I have hightlighted the bits that jumped out at me.....woops sorry :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

  • Evening ladies :D

Had a busy week, and a very rocky week too  I lost 4lb at weigh in and I was :j, I didn't find last week hard at all, wasn't tempted by anything bad, just got on with my fruit and veg

This week is a totally different story! Massively struggling, hugely craving sweet things, the mint Aeros and cupcakes found me the other day and basically I've screwed this week up

However, it's 3 days to weigh in and I've done some exercise today. Am hoping that if I stick to it 100% for the next 3 days and do more exercise I can just squeeze in with a sts or a sneaky little loss! I only need 2lbs for my 2.5 stone, I really hate how I start sabotaging myself sometimes! How I can go from :j at a big loss and clothes fitting well to shoving anything and everything in my mouth for no good reason I don't know! Oh well, onwards and upwards!

I completely understand, your post sounds just like me!! I completely screwed up last week too but with lots and lots of exercise I managed to pull it back...I drew a line under what I had already done and carried on with the rest of the week....

...hope you're able to do the same - Good Luck!

    thank you :D

    PB =personal best
circuit repetitions are how many times you can do a circuit of e.g. press ups, sit ups, step ups, burpees, weight lifting etc one after the other in quick succession. AKA hell on earth.

I'm off to the consultant event tomorrow afternoon. made the mistake of googling SW consultant. saw abut 70% "oh god its so much work SW are EVIL" and 30% "they are wonderful and look after you! you only get out what you put in!".
  • Hi Everyone - there were 3 pages of comments to read since I last checked in on Friday afternoon! I shut my computer down on Saturday otherwise I'd just be sitting here working all day and I think 6 days a week is enough!!!

Well done to all the latest "achievers" and welcome to everyone new and returning - I can completely identify with the comments about getting to a certain point and then everything just comes to a halt and it's as if we haven't learnt anything over the preceding weeks! I wish I could bottle the feeling of bloated and heaviness that I feel when I have an out and out binge - if I could just open the bottle and take a whiff of how I'm going to feel I wonder if it would have any effect.

I had a bit of cooking fest on Friday and made tons of SW-friendly food and lots to keep me going for the next few days. I realised that I'd spent a fortune on fruit and vegetables this week but I also realised that my kids are being fed healthily instead of with food from the freezer which is full of additives and unhealthy stuff so I'm happy to spend the extra to feed them well.

I made the cake for my son and daughter-in-law on Friday night - a chocolate apple cake made in a bundt tin and filled the middle with chopped up strawberries, kiwi and persimmon. I didn't ice it in any way and I also made a summer fruit compote with cherries, raspberries and blackcurrants - I sweetened it with sweetener and then served it with the cake. I had half a very small slice just so that I could taste it but basically had the fruit and the compote.

I made a meat loaf using ground chicken and turkey mixed together with sauteed onions and grated courgettes and then added seasoning, 1 egg and a small tub of pure tomato puree - delicious and I don't usually like ground chicken but I think the tomato puree made the difference.

I roasted a load of vegetables including carrots, sweet potatoes, garlic, red onions and fennel (I've never roasted fennel before but it was quite nice). The remainder of the roasted vegetables I used in my frittata this morning with some sliced mushrooms and chopped up tomatoes.

I made a broccoli and cauliflower bake using a bag each of frozen cauliflower and broccoli. To that I added lots of sauteed onions, some onion soup powder, 6 eggs, lots of seasoning and a couple of tblspns of light mayo. That's 9 syns for the whole bake and there were about 12 pieces in the whole thing.

I made a tomato and mushroom sauce to serve with the meat loaf using lots of onions and mushrooms, a tin of chopped tomatoes, a tub of tomato puree, seasoning and freshly chopped parsley.

Finally I made some homemade humous with a tub of cooked and pureed chickpeas and added cooked sweet potato, sauteed onions and seasoning - probably needs more seasoning next time but really good anyway.

So my meals over Friday and Saturday were based on all of this and last night I did 35 minutes on the dreadmill. Weigh in is tomorrow and I'm feeling really positive - I've increased the amount of SF food and exercise this week and really hoping that it pays off. I'm also going to try and get to a zumba class tonight.
