Of course I know what you mean! Didn't mean to offend it just occurred to me as ironic that we always estimate weight in bags of sugar when it's the last thing we need to have around!
We had people call round yesterday and DH offered some (Christmas) shortbread fingers witha cup of tea. Just out of interest, I checked the syns (after they'd gone of course;)) and each little biscuit is 5 syns:eek: What a waste, you have to be so careful.
mm, we had a stand-in consultant who told us that you don't have to have HEXs if you don't want to as there are other ways of getting the calcium, fibre etc. Your yogurt will be giving you calcium and if it's also free then that's a bonus.
My EE plan:
B: NAS squash, baked beans, HEB toast, fruit
L: not sure yet, maybe soup or something on toastlamb shank cooked on bed of carrots, leeks and parsnips with SW roasties, cabbage

0% yogurt is a superfree food. yogurt is never a HEA - its only milk and cheese. my old consultant said most yogurts are syned because they have too much sugar and additives in them and the full fat natural ones were too high in fat/calories and too low in calcium to count as a HE.0 -

Right it's made - and it tastes yummy!!
420g ready-cooked and mashed chickpeas
1 pot 0% plain yoghurt
2 tspns techina (sesame paste)
seasoning - salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic & herb seasoning, cumin
mix everything together and enjoy on w/m bread, ryvitas or with vegetable sticks.
I'm not sure how many syns are in the techina - I think 2 so unless I sit and eat the whole tub (which I couldn't possibly do) I don't think there is enough to count in a regular serving - I usually have it on my bread for my afternoon snack.Mediterranean Mum

I'm not at all offended and you are absolutely right about the sugar!
Thanks for asking about the HEXs - much appreciated. :AMediterranean Mum

OK so perhaps someone who has access to the website could look up my 0% fruit yoghurt and tell me if I have to syn it (here's hoping not!)

Well done losers....:D welcome newcomers... and re-joiners..
Just catching up.. i didn't post yesterday as I fell off the wagon*excuse coming up* we had a £5 off M&S voucher so i picked up some lightly dusted plaice and some chunky chips as a treat.. but whilst i was in there someone (:o) put a packet of biscuits AND a marzipan bar in my basket..
blackberry-rum wrote: »Then I popped into Julian Graves for a bag of horseradish broad beans which were very good but I was to cowardly to check the Kcals in it. sorry.:o
I saw some of these flavoured broad beans in M&S yesterday, nearly picked up a packet until i saw the word "fried" on the front.. are they hard like nuts or soft?AnnangelUK - I know what you mean re: inspiration! Found a fab website this evening:

Love this site... the pulled pork recipe is gorgeous... gonna go through it again and grab some new recipes.annaangeluk wrote: »As it's really cold I'm craving stodge! Really fancy making rice pudding!! The recipe on sw website serves four and uses 4tbsp of sweetner, if I halved the recipe, used 2 tbsp of real sugar (6syns cos sweetner gives me migranes) would the rice be free and I'd measure the skimmed milk to make it a HEA? Or does pudding rice have syns? I'm a bit confused as the recipe says 8 syns per serving but is that because of the milk?
Thanks
Anna x
The rice would be free.. i used to do a "breakfast rice" where i'd bake the rice in milk/water and then stir in a yogurt at the end to make it more creamy - it means that you don't have to use all your HEA up and not as many syns wasted for sugar.
Recipe was - 1 cup pudding rice, 2 cups of liquid, and a mullerlight to stir in.
Obviously it's not exactly like normal rice pudding so i wouldn't try it unless you don't mind experimenting.. hope that helps though.:D
Eta - i used to add a custard layer underneath sometimes to make it like a mullerrice... mmmmmmMortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -
