  • what always struck me about those online food diaries is they tell you to record it as its eaten/drunk but who on earth has a brew goes online and records it then does the same for every snack drink and meal? all mine were done in one go at night and I bet I forgot at least one thing a day!

I suppose it depends on what you do for a living - I work from home and am on the computer most of the day so I have a Word document sitting at the bottom of my screen and I literally open it up and correct it every time I eat something - I type up my plan at the beginning of the day as soon as I switch on and I make the corrections, if there are any, as I go through the day, but yes I admit if you're not in that position it's very hard to do that.

Question: How do you all manage to eat so little? When you list your foods I think I could never manage on so little (obviously the reason I need to lose weight) lol.

I eat a lot and I also think the same about various people on here cos I could never survive (well I could survive but you know what I mean) on that quantity of food but then I haven't lost for a few weeks so maybe that's my answer :rotfl:

Oh and question from me: WHY would I have 25 bags of sugar hanging around my house?:D:rotfl:

No, I know but there are bags of flour and tubs of margarine etc - but you know what I mean - actually I wonder if your local supermarket would let you "borrow" some to walk around the supermarket with them on your back - bet our supermarket trolleys would look a lot different :rotfl:

AnnangelUK - I know what you mean re: inspiration! Found a fab website this evening:
    http://www.slimmingeats.com/blog/recipes

Spent the last hour converting some recipes so I can eat them and making cute recipe cards. It kept me out of the fridge anyway :D

She has some really nice recipes on her blog - I've had it under "My Favourites" for a while and keep forgetting about it - thanks for the reminder!

Morning everyone, can I ask what you have for breakfast as this seems to be where I am struggling at the moment. I don't like milk so can't have cereal and don't like porridge.

I also don't like milk so have a bit of struggle. I'm fortunate that I work from home so I always make myself a great big vegetable-filled frittata (except on the mornings that I have early morning meetings). How about hard-boiling some eggs the night before and preparing some vegetable sticks - you could grab all of that and a wholemeal roll and eat it before you leave or when you get to work if you work somewhere that you can eat.
Second weigh in this morning and I've managed to lose 4.5lbs!! :jSo happy.....:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:, 6lb in two weeks!!!...not as well as I usually do in my first too weeks but I've have had a few 'off plan days' (very flexible syns) so I'm delighted.

Well done FC - very happy for you - keep up the great work

  • Managed to survive the events of Friday night and Saturday and although I didn't know what was in all of the food, I stuck with chicken and vegetables (probably cooked in oil!), lots of salad (again dressing probably had oil) and no desserts - I didn't even allow myself one cos I had no idea how many other syns I probably consumed in the cooked vegetables. For snacks I had lots of cut of veggies and some fruit and I drank nothing but water so hopefully the damage will be minimal.

    Today's plan -

    Sun 15 January 2012
    B-banana, persimmon, 0% yoghurt (HEA)
L-Tuna & Egg Salad – cabbage, tomato, cucumbers, red pepper, spring onions, beetroot, 2 hard-boiled eggs, tuna, 1 tblspn light mayo – 2 syns
S-2 slices w/m bread, homemade humous, tomato (HEB)
    D-Mexican Bake

I've been trying to get on the dreadmill every day and managed to do 30 minutes on Friday before we went away. Got back too late last night to go on but I'll be on today. Hoping that my WI tomorrow will finally show a loss as I haven't had one for a couple of weeks!

Hope you had a wonderful time??? It's so hard when your out of control of the cooking but hopefully this week you'll get some results on those scales! Well done for getting on the dreadmill, I hurt my knee again last week (I'm so heavy don't think my joints can stand it:rotfl:) so going to have to give it a miss for a bit longer, hoping to go out for a bike ride laster today so hopefully my knee won't be affected! ;)

Just looking at your food diary and I could be wrong but isnt 0% yoghurt free? and oooh you've made homemade houmous - please let me know how it tastes!

Good luck today - is if your first day back at work?

Just off to make soup and a roast dinner mmmmmmmm

Sorry to hear about your knee FC and I hope the cycling doesn't exacerbate it. We have an air-walker in the park and when my joints are aching that's what I use because there is no impact and I can move as much or as little as I want.

Yes you are probably right about the 0% yoghurt although the ones we get here are not on any SW lists so thought maybe it would be better to count it as an HEA.

I've got some lentils, barley and split peas soaking at the moment and going to make a big batch of soup later. The house is absolutely freezing and with no heating, marble floors and concrete block walls, I need something to warm me up and hoping also to have it for late evening snacks instead of hitting the crackers and humous.

As for the humous I haven't actually made it yet!!! But now that you've reminded me I'm off to make it now! :D

    lol we should!

the new app is useless for anything but counting syns too. it'd be much better if free food and HE were on there.

barring that, I don't see why they can't produce little food diary notebooks like the £2.95 free food and low syn snack ones. if it was pretty, portable and useful I'd buy one.

I don't tend to keep food diaries - too much faff and when I had too many syns, I would be too ashamed to write it down but I have kept a syn diary in the past as well as a mood diary (i.e. a food diary, but thoughts etc too) and that worked well.

I am going to go back to keeping a syn diary because that is where I fall down at the moment.

I'm impressed with myself - just dragged my sorry a** out for a 45 minute stomp with the dog and the wee fella in the buggy. It's a lovely crisp morning and I feel very virtuous. I've just checked my FIT log and I have done 2 hours & 40 mins of exercise this week which is amazing for me - I have just taken the dog a quick walk round the block a few nights and been playing on Just Dance 3 with DD so it hasn't really felt like planned exercise. :)

    :T:T:T

I went up the shop for the local paper and enjoyed the 10 minute walk there and 10 min walk back. It is indeed a lovely crisp morning and I often wish I had a furry friend to accompany me, have an excuse to go out etc. I must look into this body magic business. I am going back to my running club tomorrow....
  • As it's really cold I'm craving stodge! Really fancy making rice pudding!! The recipe on sw website serves four and uses 4tbsp of sweetner, if I halved the recipe, used 2 tbsp of real sugar (6syns cos sweetner gives me migranes) would the rice be free and I'd measure the skimmed milk to make it a HEA? Or does pudding rice have syns? I'm a bit confused as the recipe says 8 syns per serving but is that because of the milk?

    Thanks
