Definitely making that this week - thanks WWpurpleheather2810 wrote: »Hi all, I'm a newbie to this board so be gentle! I have a wedding in Australia at the end of April and I'm hoping to lose 3 stone by then (I have a lot to lose so I think this is doable). I have decided to give SW a go but at the mo I can't go to meetings. I've bought the Jan/feb mag and kicking off by following the weekly menu plan as closely as I can. I've just had mushroom, tomato and bacon on a slice of toast and I added 50g stilton (xmas leftovers that need using up!) - so how many syns should I put down for the cheese? Thanks all!
Welcome PH and congratulations for the upcoming wedding. You've picked a good magazine to get going on as there are some great recipes in this one. Everyone agrees that this is definitely one of their better editions - good luck.i can't lift things in/out of the oven etc.....use my slow cooker a lot but all very basic really. all your recipes sound nice but i can't see my dh cooking them

Saidan, I have a similar problem and I've now got two toaster ovens sitting in my kitchen - one smaller one and one larger one that I can fit a whole chicken in - I don't have to bend down anymore and I didn't have to refit the kitchen to have a built in oven (as much as I would dearly love to refurbish and have a built in!)Mediterranean Mum
hoping to lose 50lb by February 2013! 2st lost so far :j0 -
Hi All
I hope you don't mind if I join ( I have been lurking for a while) I did SW about 3 years ago and lost 1 & 1/2 stone, but then kinda lost my way a bit,
I can't really afford to go to classes (if I am honest I don't really enjoy them) so thought with my old books, the new magazine when I buy it, and some of the amazing support I have seen on here I may be able to shift the 2 & 1/2 stone that I would like gone so I can buy something really, really nice to wear for my son's wedding on the 7th July
I am going to start this on Monday and will weigh in every Monday after that (that might keep me on the good side over the weekends :rotfl:)
Sorry for the waffle, good luck everybody

Welcome nessa and PH, if you stick with SW you'll be looking fab for the weddings!
That recipe sounds great ww. It would be good to use up LO potatoes or shared as a side with fish or chicken for non veggies.
I'm almost back on plan so I'm going to post my EE menu for today (I don't think it's purely coincidence that I've been allowing myself too many treats while not posting. For me, it's like doing a food diary and seeing 'bad' things written down helps me focus:
B: NAS squash, 2 boiled eggs, HEB toast, HEA milk for teas
L: chicken tikka pieces (reduced in Asda and I was hungry:o)HM gammon, cauli cheese, chips
Snacks: must eat some fruit as had none yet
Syns: cheese sauce0 -
panic over the book has been found! now planning healthy meals whilst demolishing a box of malteasers. I am really truly my own worst enemy sometimes.
Can I ask, where do you find out syns for things such as the Colmans shake n stir etc? I have my trusty green book, but thats it really.0 -
meant to ask is Potato Gnocchi free on green? and does anyone know if melba toast and french toast are the same thing?0
-
i use the SW syns online to help me plan my meals......it tells you the syn of anything you want.
Gnocchi, cooked without fat, 100g cooked 2syn
don't know if the toasts are the same sorry - don't eat them.
ammonite i too have sat with my book to plan - while eating a choccie bar  why do we do it?

Lol saidan, I don't know. I put some meal ideas together and ordered stuff off Tesco. It is arriving tomorrow so hopefully I can get some batch cooking done before I go back to work!
Think I'm going to put my fiver away each week in a tin and save up for some non-food treats when I hit little mini targets and then I'll have some money for new clothes as and when I will hopefully need them (what am I saying.......I've got a MASSIVE wardrobe full of thin clothes that don't fit me!)
I want to aim to lose a stone in January. I don't think that is too unrealistic given the number of social events I don't have to go to and the fact that people do well in the first week or two. Thereafter hopefully 7lb a month and then it starts slowing down I think. Need a good boost in January to make me feel better so going to try really hard.0 -
mm: That's a great suggestion cookie - thank you - but do you think she might be a bit put out that I'm only coming for one or two meetings? I don't think she will mind at all, it's still money in her pocket!
ammonite: a quick way of looking for syn values if you are not a member is to google the item + syn and someone somewhere in the great big internet will have asked and been answered ... Minimins is another good site with SW threads on it and lots of info. I think French toast is bread dipped in egg, fried, then smothered in icing sugar and cinnamon, and melba toast is just dry toast. But I could be dreadfully wrong cos I don't eat either.
eta: I'm right - I lurve Mr Google:

Melba::jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j
thank you Slimming World!

Hi everyone!
I'm going to be starting sw again next week.
I cant really afford the meetings and I have all the books from before. Just wondering if most people on here go to meetings or do it themselves?
Im in two minds whether to attend meetings or not!0 -
Hi Moneysav - I used to go to meetings but am doing myself this time with the help of the lovely ladies here!
Well, day 2 was a total success - only syns involved 1 mini Hero (2 syns?). I was full all evening too after the mexican bake.
I'm off to the greengrocers and Aldi this morning to buy lots of lovely F&V - yesterday's pomegranate was lovely so may get another one of those.
Today's food looks like this....
Breakfast - banana
Lunch - savoury rice and fruit
Tea - HM bean chilli (contains mushrooms, onion, sweetcorn, tomatoes, peppers and 3 or 4 different types of beans) with a bit of cheese melted on top
Syns - maybe a glass of wine tonight
Hope everyone has a good New Years Eve - I'm staying in!0
