I have done SW on and off for the last year. I have recently had to stop attending as I just didn't have the money
I still have my books so I am planning on doing SW alone till after Christmas when I am hoping there will be an offer on the joining fee and I, hopefully, will have a few more pennies as I won't saving everything for Christmas. Is it ok to be doing that on this thread?
I am seriously unhappy about my weight. I am the heaviest I have ever been and totatly disgusted with myself. My BMI is sitting at 32 and I looked back at this time last year it was 27. I don't know why my weight has shot up so dramatically in the last year but it is getting out of control now. I just don't seem to be able to get my head into slimming at the moment. I try to make sure I provide my kids healthy meals but as soon as they go to bed I am straight in the cupboards looking for something to eat. I just feel like I am going round in circles and getting nowhere. It's a typical case of 'I'm sad because I eat and I eat because I'm sad'.
Anyway moan over, if it's ok with you lot I will make tonight my WI at home night (it's one of the only nights I have free from running the kids to their various activities) and will post my loss/gain or STS on here. If this is against any of the rules then sorry and please remove my post.
Many Thanks
SW is the only diet I have ever followed (apart from the occasional, I'm leaving sugar out of my tea and not eating biscuits/chocolate episodes which last all of 5 minutes). Its easy to follow/stick to.... kind of....
I personally think that unless you are in the I want to lose weight mindset then it can be very hard to stick to. I almost describe it as a switch in my head that is in either SW mode or in sod it mode?!
As you can't make classes for a bit, I suggest you pick a day as your weigh in day and weight on the same day and at the same time every week.
Perhaps weigh in boots but if you weigh at home then make sure those scales only come out once a week. Record your progress in your book.
Each week set yourself a new challenge, perhaps try a new fruit or vegetable, have a look at the sw site and pick a new recipe to try.
Think about the foods you like and work out how you can make them suit SW.
Get a shopping bag and everytime you lose weight, put the respective amount of weight in tins in the bag and keep in sight and everytime you feel like reaching for that biscuit tin, pick up the bag and remind yourself how well you have done.
Don't set an end goal yet, set smaller ones, for example aim to lose half a stone/stone at a time. Each time you achieve your target, treat yourself to something.0 -
Quick Update to today's plan:
B - Dorset Fruity Porridge and 1 x ryvita (HEB) with strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. 125ml skimmed milk (HEA)
S - Cherries
L - Superspeed soup, 2 x WG bread (HEB), plum
S - Chilli snack-a-jacks (was a bit peeved as I could've sworn I also put caramel ones in my shopping but they weren't there when I got home and not on receipt either). 1 x Fruit crunch ryvita (3 syns), Quark, 1/2 white Option sachet (1 syn), blueberries, strawberries.
D - Mediterranean veggie stew with pearl barley, Lemon cheesecake Mullerlite (1 syn)
I have also burned 736 cals at the gym and doing the 30 Day Shred. AND...I am doing my good deed for the day by picking my friend up from the train station at 2200 hrs instead of going out, so no gin ha ha. I will probably make up for it tomorrow though.Slimming World Restart Again 14/02/11: 152lbs

Is there room for another Miss Slinky 2011 in here ?
which I also won at group tonight. Mind you, when I got home, DS thought is was Miss Stinky :rotfl:
Also lost another 1lb taking me to 4.5lbs below target. Back to paying again now, but only 2.5lbs to my next half stone which is where I think I'll stop.

Thank you so much for all the advice. I have weighed myself today and shoved the scales under my bed so they don't make another appearance till next week. I would love to have half a stone off by Christmas as that would take me down a dress size and back into most of my clothes. I also refuse to buy clothes for Christmas Day in the size I am now!Christmas is 4 weeks away at 2lb a week so it is doable.
I usually shop on Fridays so I need to sit down and do some meal plans. As it's so late I will probably pass on shopping tomorrow and go sat which will give me all tomorrow to work out some menus. We are having home made Chicken Fried Rice which I know is free on EE so I will prob just try to stick to that for tomorrow and plan a bit better for the rest of the week. Does anyone know when the Tesco's offer of 12 Muller for £3 ends? Planning on stocking up as the Coconut one is amazing!!!!!
I really like the idea of putting the weight you lose in a bag.Think I am going to try that. Think I know what has made my weight spiral, I moved to a new area (well country really) and left all my old friends and family behind. Although I am not homesick I don't have as many friends here so I am not social active and tend to spend more time sat it with the kids and the biscuit barrel. Well that has got to stop!
Anyway, off to bed now. Thanks for the advice, will pop on again soon xJust little old me!0 -

Congratulations rachel:T It's easy to accommodate Miss Slinkies as they don't take up as much room as they used to!:rotfl:S - Chilli snack-a-jacks (was a bit peeved as I could've sworn I also put caramel ones in my shopping but they weren't there when I got home and not on receipt either). 1 x Fruit crunch ryvita (3 syns), Quark, 1/2 white Option sachet (1 syn), blueberries, strawberries.

Well done on cooking the stew dimbo and all the body magic. I don't suppose there's much SW friendly food in the mess? Are there many syns in crackerjacks?kahunababy wrote: »I really like the idea of putting the weight you lose in a bag.Think I am going to try that.
When our consultant was pregnant recently we used to help her take all the SW stuff back out to her car. I often carried the sandbag things weighing 1st and 1lb and very heavy they were too. It was soooo motivating to know I used to carry more than 3 times that around with me all day every day!
I've been thinking that if I could choose a WI day, I'd go for a Friday. That's because I save my syns for weekends and then jump straight back on the wagon on a Monday and it would give me four clear days of feeling virtuous before WI came around.
Another heavy (but fun) couple of weeks coming up for me, starting tomorrow. That's why meal planning is so essential to me so that when I'm not out out and about going flexi I can eat SW friendly.0 -
Hi all:j
I have been following SW for quite while on & off (more off than on recently TBH). I lost a stone when I was following the plan properly - at home - I used to go to class but don't any more. I could really do with losing another stone. Trouble is I just had a blood test, just a check up really & they called me back & it turns out I have high cholesterol. I was completely gobsmacked, because I actually have quite an intolerance to fats, so when the nurse gave me the lecture about what foods to eat, I already do!! Neither do I eat a lot of red meat, so I am a bit stumped  That's all the advice I was given, everything that comes from a cow is bad for me, and I have to go back in Jan to see if it's improved.
Anyhow, rant over & I need to get back on the wagon - or tank whatever it is these days:rotfl: if you'll have me. I tend to do either EE or green days.New start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 . Sashanut - I also have high cholesterol, and had quite a chat with my doc regarding it. Although it is possible to reduce it by diet, doc explained that MOST high cholesterol is inherited/genetic, therefore is part of your make up and will need to be monitored. You can probably thank one or both of your parents for this (both of mine in my case!). See if you can speak to your doc again when you go back to get him/her to explain high cholesterol properly and the reasons for suffering with it - it is so annoying that people think that because someone carries more weight, they are suffering from high cholesterol because of it...its not the case!

Congrats Rachel. What do you have to do to get Miss Slinky? I haven't been to class for ages.Well done on cooking the stew dimbo and all the body magic. I don't suppose there's much SW friendly food in the mess? Are there many syns in crackerjacks?
Thanks, it is deeelish as well and I will have enough for another 4 or 5 servings. No freezer is a pain as it means I have to eat the same for days. I am making spicy butternut squash, sweet potato and carrot soup tomorrow. But you are right Mess food is not SW friendly at all. Because they try and disguise cheap ingredients, everything has sauces, butter you name it on it, and there is always a starter and dessert to be tempted with. So I am going cold turkey and avoiding the dining room full stop.
Snack-a-jacks have 5 1/2 syns in them. The chilli ones are ok but I definitely prefer the caramel ones for a quick sweet fix. They are 2 for £3 in Sainsbury's at the mo.
Todays plan will vaguely resemble yesterday's and I will post later on. I am hoping to go swimming today.
Have a good one xSlimming World Restart Again 14/02/11: 152lbs

Hi everyone
I finally took the plunge and have gone back to SW group 4 1/2 mths after having my little girl. I was shocked to find i'm actually a stone lighter than when i stopped going in October last year! Still a long way to go though......
I have a quick question for you if i may? I'm currently exclusively breastfeeding DD and asked for the leaflet which tells you what extra HE you're supposed to have however consultant has yet to get back to me with a detailled answer as she's busy with an assessment:eek: she. Said just have 1 extra A for now- does anyone know if thats correct or if you have the leaflet could you perhaps send me the info? Very much appreciated!
Looking forward to joining you all in some weightloss support!

Thanks for this Cherry - much appreciated!! In fact it was the nurse, not the doctor I had to see, and TBH what she seemed to be saying was that although I am not a lot overweight (a stone) that people who are more overweight, sometimes do not have high cholesterol at all - which is the genetic thing you were talking about. In fact she told me about some chap - quote 'who could hardly get through the door' who when tested had a score of 3 and promply said, 'well I don't need to lose weight then'. My difficulty in trying to control it with diet, was that I already do most of the things she suggested!! I can make some tweaks, as I said before I had slipped off the wagon a fair bit:eek: so it's a wake-up call.
So I will try with diet & see if that helps, if not it's the statins. My score was 8.8 & she said it should be under 5... With Christmas on the horizon that made me feel a tad depressed:(New start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 .
