Don't belittle yourself like that. You have recognised that you have to pay money back and are working towards doing it. That is an achievement in itself.

Some people just run all their lives from their debts and don't care.

You are doing something, and every little step you take is so worth it!

Just want to say, definitely try shopping around at greengrocers and butchers for fruit, veg and meat. I know it is a hassle but so worth the extra pennies in your purse.

Our local greengrocers has shut down and I am noticing the difference in prices at the supermarket so much.

I usually buy their broccoli, shrink wrapped for a certain price. Tonight i thought, no, go and pick one and weigh it. The price pack was £2 a kilo  , so I weighed it, just under 400g, and used self service, 60p. Cheaper than the shrink wrapped one and no wasteful packaging!

And I do the same with bananas, choose a hand, weigh them and they are usually cheaper than the £1 selection they give you.....

We do still have a couple of Butchers reasonably local (other than the Farm Shop one, which is verrrrrrry expensive ) - though I'm still working my way through them to see which is best value.

We've several Veggie Farm Shops close by - with widely differing pricing for things, but a couple of them do have some good deals on more everyday stuff like potatoe sacks. I've only seen one Greengrocer, and they're quite a distance, I might detour via them on day on the way home from work (if they're not closed when I get there)

Septembers Debt Buster payment will be £60 towards the smallest debt (half of £120) - TARGET REACHED
Unfortunately this month, I won’t be able to utilise all my £10 a day earnings this month, as I have to offset some of the money against the Wagon’s work earlier, and I need to Tax it this month too.

Really pleased I completed most things on last weeks list. Just a couple which I under-estimated how long I'd need to do them - So these are going under the new Monthly Section. :)

I've put the money from September into a moneybox until I can add the rest to pay it off in full. :T

I've yet to finish this weeks task list, mainly because I'm dithering on what to do - so much I need to do and just couldn't focus on which to do first. :o

I will get these added by the end of the day (pc relocation permitting) As I'm trying to use today to get as much done of one of my secondary tasks as possible whilst I've got a day not working.

Finally getting to post This Weeks list & October's Tasks & Goals :o

Octobers Debt Buster Payment will be £60 towards the smallest debt (half of £120, to be added to the £60 from Sept) and I will take £200 of the remaining £310 to pay the next smallest debt off.
This is from the extra money I make from the £10 a Day Challenge. - In Progress

    Octobers Tasks
    1) Activity - Finish Survey re-activation / registration & Spreadsheet. - In Progress
    2) Activity - PPI Claim - start researching information & locate paperwork. - In Progress
    3) Household -[STRIKE] Clear gutters, gulleys & drains & repair leaf guards where necessary.[/STRIKE] 3/4 COMPLETE (rear section needs complete replacement)
    4) Garden - [STRIKE]Clear the beds by the windows in the front garden for the new (to be ordered) fruit bushes/shrubs to be planted up[/STRIKE]. DONE

    This Weeks Tasks - 2/10/11 - 8/10/11
    Priority Tasks
    1) Paypal Verification (my account status seems to have been limited again) - Postponed until S*tander Account stuff received.
    2) [STRIKE]Santander Savings Account - Address change seems to have not been done + replacement card / new internet registration pack not arrived[/STRIKE]. - COMPLETED - Awaiting replacement items.

    Secondary Tasks
    3) [STRIKE]Second Bedroom - furniture / packed box shuffle[/STRIKE] - DONE, as far as logistics allow.
    4) [STRIKE]Do Gumtree Registration to sell some items -[/STRIKE] DONE - Registration + one item listed
    5) [STRIKE]Unpack / Sort & re-locate items from 5 boxes[/STRIKE]. - COMPLETED
    6) [STRIKE]Prep & plan 1st Batch cook session[/STRIKE] - COMPLETED

With so much to do in every area, I stalled briefly not being able to decide which tasks to do this week / month. Problem being, that it's reached the stage where - in order to get anything in order - everything now feels like it needs doing immediately

I'm so glad I made the decision to start task #3 yesterday whilst I had a full day at home ... It took way longer than I'd anticipated, and if I'd tried to do it just in the evenings - it would've been a bit of a mess and a darn sight longer than a weeks worth of "work" involved.

    Roll it on..

My eyes are in serious need of matchsticks after having re-created the Survey / MS activity spreadsheet, and the registration list spreadsheet. Decided as I keep missing notifications - to make a new hotmail account for all survey / MS stuff, keep it in one place. Just gotta go change it on all active accounts now and add all of them to the new spreadsheets  Once that's done, I can concentrate on reactivating old / joining new ones as well.

Job # 3 is almost at the stage where it's as completed as it can be until I can reshuffle another room to make space for the remaining bits still loitering ;)

Completed job # 5 - mainly kitchen & garden books, just as well considering my other two tasks this month :rotfl:

Job # 6 - Started planning batch cook sessions, as I've now got some of my books available and have a big spag bol session tonight as we're having it for dinner :p

Really pleased, received CT Credit letter saying that they've granted me Council Tax Credits and that subject to sending them some extra info, they will back date it a couple of months :T It's effectively "money contra'd off" my bill rather than payments, as I've got some back payments outstanding still - but it's still a reduction. I'll update my Sig and post 3 figures at the weekend though.

And the Water company have confirmed a meter is being fitted, so my bill for that this year is also now pending revision, hopefully it will be fitted shortly then I can see what's to come off. I'll still have to pay for what I use, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will be significantly lower than the rateable value charge.

Still, it all helps - and it has perked up an otherwise less than harmonyous (sp!!) week. :)

word of warning.... anyone who was with pigsback... you have lost your points :(

I will say this to anyone, don't leave your money/points etc sitting in paypal, daily clicks/cashback sites, waiting for big payout, always cash out as soon as possible. I know with things like amazon, you usually need £20 for a voucher, but if you can get to to it, cashout as quick as youcan.

pigsback changed overnight, with no prior warning

Op Just wanted to say well done and keep plodding on. you have had a serious amount to deal with lately but you can get throught it. Keep strong and look to the future.

Something else to consider, if/when you have time is bobbing over to the PPI reclaiming section. If you had loans/cards it is highly likely they had PPi and it is highly likely any policies were miss sold. Many, many people both on here and other financial/consumer forums I go on are claiming and getting back refunds of PPI. At the least it would bring down the balances of some of the debts and at best would clear some altogether.

If the debt has been sold on to a debt collector then the PPI refunds cannot be used to offset the debt and you can have the money in full. You then can choose what to use it to clear.

If you get time have a read, only issue might be if you have claimed against the policies when ill/ redundant at any point-they offset any payments made against refunds paid (fair enough). PPI was systematically miss sold and the situation is far more cut and dried than the bank charges reclaims were. In fact I believe the FOS are upholding around 9/10 PPI complaints. Best of all it just takes time alot of form filling and probably patience whilst you wait for the ombudsman to look at it. Apart from your time and postage its free.

    Ali x

Just reread the thread and realised the PPI is on your to do list OP. I am in the early stages with mine. Got about 3 now at the stage of going off to the fos so we will see what happens lol. Good luck.
