Just to add - the room & linen sprays seem to be popular everywhere, so I'd get some of them with the matching shower gel etc then people could always make a little gift set out of them.

  • Thank you Lozza, I really appreciate your reply!

Ahh I wondered how it worked with clearance stuff. So I'm not 'technically' doing anything wrong by selling clearance stuff? If it is mine to sell, does that mean I can price it at what I like as well?

I did debate baking some cupcakes to entice as well... :) Maybe something festive!

May also do a little prize draw sort of thing... £1 a ticket, am I allowed to do that?!

So sorry for all the questions, I have done Avon for a few months but have only ever sold to family and friends and haven't ever worked out how much I earn/need to sell but determined to bring in extra money this Christmas... fingers crossed!

Yes you can price it how you like, I'd add at least 10% onto the price, rounding up to the nearest 50p/£1 personally to make change easier.

Personally I would avoid the price draw, easier to sell actually products rather than raffle tickets (people might be suspicious that there won't actually be a winner/it be fixed). But that's just me!

Don't worry about the questions - it's nice being able to help :)

  • Fantastic, thank you SO much I really appreciate all your advice, you've been a life saver. Am going to put in an additional order tomorrow. I have C17 before my stall but I want to make sure I have the stock I need and play around with presentation and stuff.

And ooh okay will give the prize draw a miss! Thank you :)

  • Just to add my 2p-worth to the already excellent advice here :T as far as I understand:

    * Raffles - OK to sell raffle tickets for items 'on the night' e.g. at a party where everyone is there at point of sale and draw. Some reps do offer a 'free raffle ticket' for orders £x+ but personally I've always steered clear of that as, if challenged, it would be difficult to prove the actual draw was fair. Having said that, if the tickets are free....

    * POB orders not being priced - I queried this at an Avon seminar and was told that Avon purposely do not price confirmed orders via POB as the contract is between the rep and their customer i.e. the rep may be selling at more/less than brochure price. Personally, not sure if that's a 'cop out' but it does mean that when you accept a POB order you need to check the prices as/when added to your order.

Worth considering the Loyalty Pack in your HT too i.e. 5 Supercurlacious mascara's for £10 inc. 20 loyalty cards and a guide to running your own loyalty scheme. Also in C17 we can order the mixed pack of 6 mascara's for £12. Belting opportunity to earn some extra dosh! :j

I have good credit rating and doesn't own Avon any money. I am thinking about joining Avon but I am quite heavy (22 stones), I am currently walking 1 hour a day to see if I can lose some weight so I could drop the Avon magazines on my walks and earn some extra money. All Avon sales rep I have seen are pretty and slim, I have lost a lot of my confidence since putting weight on and I am really scaried of singing up and then once I meet the avon seller face to face she will just think I am too fat to reprents their brand and dump me, this would really drag me down so please be sincere to me: is there any restriction on who can sell avon? do you have to look good? I love perfume and moisture, bath bubbles etc but I am not one to wear make up, do you have to wear a lot of make up and look great meeting customers?

I worried when i started as I'm most certainly not a glamour puss!! I live in comfy jeans and t-shirts, am a larger girl and never wear makeup, but i found that no one really cared what i looked like so long as I was well informed and there products arrived correct and on time. As you said if you’re walking you will lose weight and that will improve your confidence, and seeing some of your customer will too i have size 8's and size 28's on my book, some buy all the makeup in the world others just a bit of scent and soap but i found they were a lot more confident ordering from me who wasn’t going to scrutinise what they have bought (ooh i can’t believe she would wear THAT colour etc.) which they say they have had from other reps including comments on lingerie they have bought! (How rude!) if you have the drive and the personality you will be fine especially as people are starting to wake up to that fact small size does not = beauty!! I hope it all goes well!

Finally made PC club this year for the first time. See it as something to aim for rather than something to get excited about as I can't see that you benefit much by reaching it!

I don't really get a mad flurry of sales at Christmas, just done brochure 17 and reckon it was around 20% up on sales, certainly not the 100% plus some reps see. My customers just stop buying make-up and their usual bits and buy Christmas gifts instead.

Have decided to do C18 and C1 then definately miss out C2 which comes slap bang in the middle of Christmas/New Year. Will swing in to C3 with C2 backorders for besties and C2 only for not so regulars.

Ashamed to say that I still need to recanvass, school hols and illness have slowed me up. Now my printer is being a prima donna. I will do it this year :D

    Happy Avonning, everyone.

I'm putting my C18 books out tomorrow and according the the website I need to earn about £1k to make PC lol :rotfl: Don't think thats going to happen somehow! But then I have had a horrible year luck wise, loads of people cancelling BIG orders on me, then June through September was hit and miss as I wasn't even hitting £150 a campaign as I wasn't collecting books in with DD being incapacitated.

I'll be "skipping" C2 for customers, as its due in 20th Dec and delivered 2nd Jan, then with C3 due 10th I might just put book 4s out on the 7th when the kids have all gone back to school (a lot of my customers are parents ;)). This worked for me last year, but I won't be stocking up on stuff in the C2 book (unless there is an unbelievable deal on certain items) as last year I ended up returning nearly £200 of stock which customers would normally have bought but didn't :o Its a constant learning experience this.

I'm going to set myself some targets for 2013 campaigns, I'm aiming to hit PC as I keep scraping in just under the amount so will calculate how much I need to hit each campaign to make it in 2013. I'll also re-canvass after Xmas, as I only managed to do one road this time as my books have been in such terrible condition when I've got them back due to all the rain lately :( I'm also still compiling my black list ;):rotfl:
