I do tell them that avon says they must tell the taxman but no info is disclosed until you earn over £1000 as a sales leader.

There isn't really anything else you can do - it's the rep's responsibility to register as self-employed, tell any benefit people they're dealing with, do their tax return etc...
As long as you're mentioning it, I wouldn't say you were doing anything wrong. There's nothing more you could do, and it won't come back on you if reps get into trouble for not registering.
There are SLs who assume reps will know, so don't mention it, but anyone viewing Connects will realise not everyone is aware of what "earnings" or "income" really means - the following reasons have popped up:
- I'm not earning very much
- I'm making a loss
- I only sell to F+F
Then there are SLs and ASMs who actively encourage people not to register, which is getting into dubious territory. I asked whether Avon was self-employment (already being registered myself) and was told yes, and Avon won't tax my earnings, and she shrugged off the need to tell the taxman.
Even though different sections of HMRC, and different benefit offices don't seem to talk to each other, I would have thought you're digging yourself a hole if you're claiming for one thing (using Avon hours and earnings) but at the same time not doing a tax return. On the WTC form you put the reference number for your tax return.I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for.I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.

As IGeek says really. As long as you are telling them that they should, then you are covering yourself. I don't understand why people want to avoid registering, it's not like it's painful!Still looking for the plot...... Anyone seen it???0

Re-canvassing chronicles Part II
I had 41 books to collect in last night from the following people:
- double black-listers  - i.e. people who've never ever been able to return a book
- re-canvas list - people who've returned at least one book in the past but never showed any interest. They either weren't reading books or got about 6 in a row but never ordered.
Everyone was people who haven't told me they don't want a book, so they were always going to get another one during re-canvassing.
Ticked "no more books" box - 7
Didn't read book (didn't tick form one way or other) - 7
Customer - 1Really wasn't expecting much so 1 person's fine.
Non-returners - 26. TBH I didn't knock on the door at most houses, just because the time really would have added up and I've never had any interest or communication with these houses before. I also didn't add them to my list for next week (the big collection of regulars) because that takes long enough. I'd rather not have stragglers making me feel rushed with my regulars if they want to ask a question. They got a note to contact me if they want to order. I bet I'll find some left outside for a week next Monday. I started using new notes saying they can dispose of the book because I won't be returning - after I spotted one left out for months. However one person got that new version of the note and they still left it outside just after I'd posted it - good job I'd done a circle around the block.
I think I'm tight on brochure 15s and 16s so I'll go back to a few of the houses mentioned above, but it'll be a handful at a time. Then stock up on brochure 17s and get any left over done during C18. If I'd had people reading the book I'd be going straight back, but I just don't feel like it's worth stretching my books and time to prioritise the groups above.I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. thankyou for replys
i dont understand wy people don't go self employed as they would be better of with things they can claim against tax and also benefits if you don't make any money but each to there own."It is your decisions, and not your conditions, that determine your destiny".0 -

Looking for inspiration ladies....
I've been doing Avon about a year now and I'd say I have about 50 customers of which half order regularly and the rest on and off depending on the campaign and what's on offer. Now I was hoping to have had a few more by now but my tactics are obviously not working!! Things I have done recently;
- re canvassed one side of a long road = no response (other side to do this week plus a few more roads now that children are back at school)
- Recommend a friend and receive a free gift = picked up 2 new customers from an existing customer who takes the book to work for me
- the majority of my f&f don't live local so getting a book to and from them is somewhat time consuming so they don't order as often as I'd like but when they do I get a nice order
- have an Avon facebook page but still struggling to pick up new people only have about 40 friends (how sad am I) and post regularly on local sites to promote that I do Avon offering free gifts for new orders over £10
- I have been given some more territory but haven't managed to get round to all of it yet. I've done a new cul-de-sac of 18 houses twice = 1 new customer but the others haven't even picked the brochure up from outside the front door. Do I give them a few more chances???
Where am I going wrong? Really want to increase my sales to the £400 pound mark because at the moment I'm struggling to get to £250.
Should I put my regulars on the latest brochure and put all of the other half 'who don't spend that often' on the back book? At the moment I just give my f&f the latest book, make sure all my regulars see the back campaign book first then go onto new territory.
So if anyone has any super duper ideas I'm all ears. I want to succeed but I'm obviously missing something or not doing something right, any suggestions?
thanks in advance ladies.0 -

Are you leaving the brochures outside the house rather than posting them through? I imagine if it's been raining people might not be too keen to bring in the bag all wet, or if they've got children and shopping in their hands they forget to go back and get it once everything's sorted out. Once it's in the house it's less easy to ignore.
Or you could knock on doors to really gage interest, but personally I'm skeptical about whether that actually brings in more customers - it definitely gets things sorted into yes/no more quickly for you, though.
I give people not reading the book 3 books (while trying to speak in person to ask if they're interested). Any sign of interest and it's every book for about 6 campaigns, followed by being on every other book.
I've been very dithery (which I hate!) about the above tactic. Every so often you hear of someone getting books for a year before finally ordering, which makes me think I should persevere until I'm told to go away. But then I'm doing a really long collection and thinking, "it's the people who haven't ordered (or not for an age) who are having me waiting on the doorstep/losing books".
So, final decision is to do the 6 campaigns, then every other book as above, and continue with every other book until 6 months has passed (since first starting). Then they'll move onto re-canvassing twice a year.
Shuffling people into current/backorder groups is a good idea - so your unreliable people are on backorder. It'll save you a bit of money on books.
With customers I always collect the day before the order's due in - it gives them the shortest possible wait for their order (one week). Do you think the wait could have been putting people off? I've got some new customers who had a 2 week wait and they were fine with it, so it may not be a big deal to people.
It may just be you've got bad roads. I've got 7 streets with no customers on them and if they were all I had I'd be wondering what I was doing wrong.I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. Hello
Whats the best way registering with tax office? Is it by phone or website? Also how much roughly do you get taxed, I work full time on a salary of 14kMe £380.00 Partner £317.48
Sealed pot challenge 2011 (Started Aug)- £35.51
Saving for house £733.09/£20000(3.67%)0 -
I have a cul-de-sac of mostly bungalows. Around 20 houses and have only ever had 1 customer there (did follow her and now supply her mum) so I guess some small roads could be a non-starter.
I keep bestie customers on current brochure and others on back brochure. Around C17 I play catch up and it's not unusual for me to push out two brochures together on the run up to Christmas.
Finding sales are down at the moment. Not sure if it's due to summer hols or the general economy. Most of my customers are 40+ so theoretically should have surplus income (I DID say theoretically!).
Big recanvass planned but struggling to find the incentive to get round my current ladies so will need to plan and push myself to achieve this. I only have my MIL and one friend whom I supply brochures to so practically all my orders are from streets. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
