Has all argos stck been reserved? I've been trying to reserve one in the midlands with no success.

Yeah they're all out. Some people reckon the odd one keeps popping up occasionally as stores do their daily stock take but I haven't seen any.

Tesco must follow suit shortly. Do they really want to be the only retailer sitting on a large amount of stock they can't shift after everywhere else sold them for 70% less? Floor space is valuable so their option would be to return to HP and why bother if you can satisfy a customer and get the money back?

Only from people buying them at full price in the hope the price goes down. If the price doesn't go down, they'll find themselves in stock fairly quickly due to distance selling regs.
  • Just went to my local Argos to pick up my reserved hp touch pad. i thought ill pay the full price now and ask them for price match later ..on the receipt it said exempt from 30 days return..no refunds available..

got scared .. didn't want to get lumbered with £450 touch pad..so returned it.. and re reserved it for IF it goes down... right thing to do or... advice plz

Are you sure it's exempt from the 30-day return?

    Here's a section copied of the T&C's from argos.co.uk

"If a product is excluded from our 30-day money-back guarantee, it is clearly marked by a † next to the product name in the catalogue and on this website"

There is definitely no † next to the product name online, also, if you order it online then you can definitely get a full refund (within 7 days) via the Distance Selling Regulations.

    Hope this helps,

I notice yesterday they still had Currys on their price check page for the Touchpad indicating that the price was last updated on 22-8, they now list only Argos and Amazon for their price check for the Touchpad with today's date.

I guess it must be easy to do a price check if you selectively compare yourself to the retailers that make you look good, seems a bit unfair though and if it was me I'd have a row with them on that one.

Just a heads up, if Tesco are only matching Argos on Touchpads now I'd make a screengrab of that price promise and then wait till tomorrow. It's likely Argos prices will be reduced and then you'll have ammunition against Tesco to price match.

A quick question about distance selling regs. If I 'pre-ordered' a pre-3 at full price, then when it arrives, am I covered by distance selling, or have I waved those right due to it being a pre-order' and not a normal order???

If you buy and pay on line yes you can get the refund but if you reserve an item then pay for it in the shop you are not covered for a refund.
  • has anyone noticed that Amazon.co.uk had 10 in stock about an hour ago and then now down to 8 selling at £249.00 i mean why are people buying these at this price, surely they are going to follow suit and reduce to £115?
  • Even if you bought the TouchPad in-store tt should be covered by the 30-day money back guarantee though....

By their very own T&C's, there is no † next to the product name hence it is covered by the guarantee.

This is just my take on things.
