To get a 'nasty illness' you need a bacterium,or virus, which as we have already acertained, would be killed off by the heat, a detergent cannot infect you with anything but cleanliness! Thrush could be a possibility as its caused by an imbalance rather than the an infection, but dishwashers rinse so thoroughly to avoid tainting your food, its highly unlikely, and I would think pigpen would have noticed by nowMurphy's No More Pies Club #209

Not silly, but probably either a coincidence or a malfunctioning dishwasher
I would guess coincidence as yousay 'after',it would have been whilst using it if it were due to thatPlease excuse my bad spelling and missing letters-I post here using either my iPhone or rathr rubbishy netbook, neither of whch have excellent keyboards! Sorry!0 -
but you can get cystitis type infections that can be caused by the irritation caused by bubble bath and stuff cant you? i find i get thrushy/cystitisy type feelings during my period each month, i put it down to all the changes that occur. plus a bit of irritation after sex and especially after baths0

This is probably loads tmi, but do you not worry that the detergent will give you thrush or some other nasty illness?
nope.. the candida yeast is killed off at temps higher than about 41C and the DW is hotter than that.. same as most normal human infections.. the bugs thrive at human body temp so they can make us unwell.. washing hotter kills most of them off.
I use the same detergent on my plates and mugs.. if it was going to kill me/make me ill surely ingesting it would increase the risk massively.. the difference between getting dirt on your hands or eating it.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Cystitis is a watr infection. Please don't think I'm being rude or deroggatory by asking this, but you do know your period and your urine comes from different places don't you? Please don't take that the wrong way, many years ago I overheard my own grandmother asking my mother how she'd pee after having a hystorectomy!
Cystitis can be caused by fricton to the end of the urethra during sex, thrush (in your vagina) can be brought on (not casued mind you) by bubble bath and detergents, even by douching' with plain water! Please excuse my bad spelling and missing letters-I post here using either my iPhone or rathr rubbishy netbook, neither of whch have excellent keyboards! Another question for mums, assuming reverbe is male as we dont usually describe what we do as shoving a bung up the chuff!!
Do you/your girls use feminine wipes or baby wipes. Just wondering if thats another gimmick as there is quite a price difference.
shoving a bung up the chuff - now theres a saying that will stay with me :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.
I don't use any kind of wipes around my bits - regular bathing is all thats needed I think. But I do understand that for young girls, taken by surprise in school etc by their period coming on, it would be a good idea to carry them in your bag.0 -
I found I got thrush loads more using pads as they made me hot and held dampness close to my skin.. and I have to change pads every 15-30 minutes so it wasnt like they were there lon enough to breed anything.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

!! yes of course! i get both types of sensation which can be attributable to bubble bath which is why i mentioned them together. i was responding to the query about whether dishwasher solution could cause thrush if the mooncup is washed in it, cystitis is not just a 'water infection' it is inflamation (itis) it can be caused as you say by irritation which can be caused by detergents.
unfortunately i have had more than my fair share of 'downstairs' problems as i used to have regular urine infections and cystitis and kidney stones. i also had a tumour in my bladder removed. i am more than familiar with my bladder after having numerous cystocoptomies (sp), a horrible procedure0 -
Cystitis is an acute inflammation of the bladder and urethra. It is usually caused by bacterial infection. Although cystitis can affect men, it is usually much more common among women because of the:
- Warm, humid conditions in the vagina and uterus, which provide an ideal environment for bacterial growth and multiplication.
- Open, external genitalia, which make infection more likely that it is in men
- Short urethra, which enables rapid infection of the bladder.
Infection by the bacteria found in or around the anus is the most common cause of cystitis. The bacteria can be transferred to the urethra during sexual intercourse, by wiping the bottom from the anus towards the urethra, or during menstruation.
The pain experienced by people with cystitis is due partly to inflammation and partly to the irritant effects of the urine, which the bacteria make more acidic than normal.
NB: Medical advice is needed for:
- Men or children with symptoms of cystitis
- Women with cystitis who are also vomiting, have an unusual vaginal discharge, have blood in the urine, or are pregnant
- Women with recurrent symptoms, plus increased thirst, weight loss and thrush
just to prove im not abnormal - honestly!. its a common thing during periods for cystitis symptoms to be experienced0 -
those of you are are buying wipes for your teen daughters to use on their lady garden
, make sure they are pH neutral. fem wipes will be as a matter of course and most baby wipes will be, but there's no such guarantee with generic wetwipes.
