Sanitary towels for teens

I agree only having 7 once is lucky....
Having 6 and 7 many times (often with simultaneous vomiting) is a hazard of having children and their germs about the place _pale_

Wow what a thread. Love that chart.
Re the moon cup in the dishwasher: don't have a problem as long as it's rinsed out first.
And flushing of towels, wipes, tampons etc: DON'T do it. It might not be your drain you're blocking. We have a shared drain and it's ususally MY patio that gets flooded with sewage.
In my house it's my 6-year-old that produces the turdzillas, when he does his once-weekly. I'v tried to increase his fibre intake but doesn't make any difference.0 -
for 12 hours???? What sort of times is she going to bed? I think with that schedule she should be pretty tired by about 9or 10 pm so why not go to bed then??Perhaps time to cut back on Air cadet squadrons if all they are doing is charity work and its taking that much out of her time and energy wise..
I used to be shattered as a teen, they're growing after all!
Am 27 now and if I am tired it's not unusual for me to go to bed at 8pm and sleep until 9am so - 13hrs0 -
I love the moxie pads and tampons. Always and the like are too plasticy and i always seem to get thrush if i use them during a period
Took me ages to work this one out for myself, I now use the always silk, which don't come with added thrush :rotfl:Another question for mums, assuming reverbe is male as we dont usually describe what we do as shoving a bung up the chuff!!
Do you/your girls use feminine wipes or baby wipes. Just wondering if thats another gimmick as there is quite a price difference.
Please get her the proper wipes, I once had to use baby wipes in an emergency situation and had thrush for a fortnight. Dealing with your first period is hard enough with out thinking that the itchyness that comes with thrush is normal every month.
You can get individually wrapped ones, that can go in a makeup bag with a spare pair of kicks, and a pad or two. I've found if I open a big pack, and not use them all straight away they can go dry. You don't want to open a brand new pack that you've been carrying around for a year and find that they've dried up! Even worse than not having anything with you...0 -

Oh god...do people really put it in the dishwasher??? _pale_
I really, really wouldn't want to eat off plates washed in the same water as something that's been up someone's foof!!! Urgh...
I don't care if it's clean, or safe or whatever, just the thought of it is making me feel queasy!0 -

Must admit it just doesn't seem right to me either. :eek:Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Hmm flush down the toilet or let it be thrown on a landfill where the plastic bags probably won't degrade either. Seems you're damned either way. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Wow, this thread's been going places...!
I started my period 1 month after my 12th birthday. I started using pads initially but then in June I had to be let off a swimming lesson at school because of being on my period/not using tampons - very embarrassing. We were going on holiday to Italy in July and I love swimming so didn't want to miss out; I therefore started using tampons. Am now 25 and have mostly used tampons (applicator, non-applicator, don't really care what kind tbh) along with the occasional pad ever since.
I never ever flush them down the loo. You can get boxes of little purple bags called Pop-ins which are scented, and you can use these to bundle up your waste before putting them in the bin. Nice thing is that they not only smell lovely but the colour of the bags means they're not transparent/disguise the contents of the bag a bit. I'd recommend putting a few of these bags in with any 'emergency kit' people are putting together for their girls. I've personally never used wipes during my period but Avon do their own brand of them, which are good value and which I take on holidays with me just for general hygiene so as to avoid taking a bottle of Femfresh (well, I use the Nivea equivalent, but you know what I mean) which could spill in a bag or go over hand baggage allowances.
I can't say I see the point of these teen versions, but that's just down to my experience: I was as regular as clockwork and had quite heavy and painful periods from the off, so see adult versions of these products as being just fine, even for a twelve-year-old.
I am however thinking of going over to a Mooncup now as I am getting concerned about the environmental impact of tampons and pads, which I know just go to landfill. No dishwasher in this house so I'd be washing it by hand...lovely0 -

Sterilise when it comes out then it has a rest for a few weeks
@angelil- washing it by hand really isn't very different to washing your hands after changing a tampon. It's great for getting in tune with your flow too :rotfl:
(Having used my cup for about five years now it's safe to say that I'll never go back to "disposable" sanpro....)They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.0
