I'm starting to feel quite excited about all the things I'll finally be able to do when I've got more time at home!
I love making things and just found this video via Unclutterer, my second favourite website after this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaP3vXiioJk&feature=related
I want to stay home and make one right now instead of going to work.... I've also managed to 'forget' to deal with any laundry this morning - being on here is very addictive, isn't it?0 -

I think that I was just forces into this situation before I was ready. This is very specific to my own experience/circumstances and what I can see in hindsight. Now if I'm honest I wouldn't want to go back to work even if I magically recovered from my illness. I'm really happy and content. I hope this helps someone...
This is exactly what I need - real stories from real people who have been in a similar situation and made their life work. Thank you xx0 -
washing machine is now on!!! As is the dishwasher!!!
I found that when I was married and working stupid hours (when I didnt need to be as ex USED to have a very well paid job) people used to ask me WHY I was working. so I think its swings and roundabouts really.
I worked because my then hubby was a control freak and wouldnt allow me to be a SAHM so I ended up with a high profile job, worked long hours, looked after the children and home and never saw any of my income.
I now work because I have to but only do 24 hours a week, I get no financial help from my now ex but due to circumstances I will have to increase my hours when the kids have all left school/college just so I can keep a roof over our heads. So for now im enjoying being at home during the day.Sealed Pot Challenge member #982

Hello Homemakers,
Can I join in to? I'm a SAHM to 17month old DD, and we are trying for another at the moment (not literaly lol).
I've been reading through this thread in bits and pieces while waiting for DD to nod off, so now I can add my two pence worth. I'm looking forward to just sitting on here most of the day for the company. My biggest issue with being a homemaker being lonely. Even though I have DD with me and I find I crave "grown up" conversation. Some days when OH gets in I upset him by being so desperate for company and trail round the house desperate to "chat".
I definitely also need some handholding through tasks. I tried doing FlyLady a while back but it didnt really work for me, but perhaps we could have a weekly focus on here? and support each other getting through it?

Hi Everyone
Can I join too? Now feeling redundant and, worse still, losing motivation!
My own worst enemy, now fifty-xxx, and stopped working two weeks before my eldest was born. That was nearly twenty years ago! He had a serious heart condition, which needed open heart surgery at eleven months. Went on to have daughter two years later and finally the youngest a further two years later. Due to the heart problem, and the youngest having fairly serious asthma problem I never got back to work. The youngest would regularly throw an asthma attack, not enough to be life threatening, but bad enough to spend many a night camped at the local hospital. I can't say I have loved every minute, it was hard work when they were all under six years! However, I was always there for them, went to every parent evening, end of term assemblies and could help at school if needed. We had another glitch when the eldest needed further surgery just before starting school, but all went as well as expected. His heart isn't working as well as it should, but he is now at University and doing us proud! We lived within our means, didn't want new car or expensive holidays and although we missed the two income spending, it has been worth it. We managed to pay off the mortgage recently, our daughter is at college and the youngest just heading up to his standard grades, he wants to be a doctor. So I should be over the moon!
My husband is still happy for me to stay at home, my age and rubbish hip joints would probably stop me finding a job anyway! But I get bored, the kids don't really need Mummy anymore, and I am proud that they don't! I always worked better when stressed out! Must be mad! The house is getting more untidy, I plan to do things but never get round to them, when I was pushed for time I got on with what needed doing. Now there is no agenda, I get distracted and can't focus! I spend too long trawling the forums! My lists are wonderful to behold, but never get followed!
Not many friends as I am a bit of a misfit, preferred delving under the bonnet of the car to knitting, love my own kids but struggle with others. I like science fiction, only cook because I have to and would rather dismantle the computer than hoover the livingroom.0 -

I always manage to keep the lounge and downstairs loo clean tidy and sparkly just in case anyone pops round (nobody does as I dont have any friends here) but the rest of the house is 1 big mess!! Unless I know my parents are coming then its a mad frenzy of cleaning activity!)Sealed Pot Challenge member #982
