  • Hi,

I also revert back to the Low Carb Eating plan, normally when I have to get into a Bikini though!

You can buy the Atkins cook book which is good, but a little expensive. I also have bought from Wilkinsons, a few cookbooks for £1 each they were Low-Carb Chicken, Low-Carb Pork, Low-Carb Lamb. All very good books at bargain prices.

I also joined a website called lowcarbfriends.com they have a fantastic receipe section, wheich are then rated with stars, also every receipe has a breakdown of carbs, calories, fat, sugars etc. - I couldn't live without this site while on this diet.

Hope that helps and good luck.

  • keot diet is fantastic for controlling various conditions in children, infact it was developed for them

    far as low carb ideas,

Egg cream shakes- blend eggs, davinci syrup, coffee or tea base, double cream
Crustless quiches- can do with mushrooms, spinach, any sausages, cheese, endless possibilities
    Omlettes
    Stuffed chicken breasts
    Steaks
Huge salads w/ chicken/cheese/avocado/bacon bits/ blue cheese dressing
    Chicken soup

I will have a think.. low carbed last year lost 45lb on it(kept it off), loved it :)

  • Hi Guys

Thanks for the suggestions they all sound fab, specially the egg shake thing, will be giving that a go!!

I will have a look at that website Vickyb, it sounds right up my street:D. I am seriously lacking in motivation at the moment but really see the benefits of this way of eating so will be looking at that for hints and tips etc.

As for the children doing low carb. NO WAY!! (and the hubby isn't either!) I realise that this isn't for them, what I meant was that as our youngest is allergic to nuts and alot of the recipes I have found call for nuts it would mean making 2 separate meals etc which isn't convieniant for us.

What I have wanted all along is to not feel like I am on a diet and have meal ideas that all the family can share (tho they still eat cake!;))

    Thanks again guys!:D

i have lowcarbed for many years and basilcally cook the same things as i used to do but add carbs for the kids/hubby... so we still have chill/curry/spagi, they have rice i have runner beans or some other veg or u can use shredded cauli for rice

u can make lasagna but use cabbage or leek leaves in place of the lasagna sheets., use mash swede etc for shepherd pies

u can make pizza with omelettey type base or a cauli mix (i fed this to my son and he had no idea it was made from cauli)

also can make some cake/bread with almond flour and sweeteners or a quick pud from cream cheese, sweetener and s/free cocoa

well done on the loss to date and keep it up.. u can always google lowcarb recipes and u will be amazed what u find :)

  • Im a low carber to!! Hi!:T

For lunches i seem to take cheese sticks, cooked beef or chicken and lots of water, i find the ketosis makes my appetite so low i just graze on bits most of the day.

got to admit, i love a big salad with cheese, mayo chicken bacon! nom!

my fave dinner, is lamb shoulder cooked in the slow cooker :)

  • Hi Guys

Thanks for the suggestions!! I don't know why I am struggling now because I am this far in, but I suppose it is bound to come sooner or later.

Prettypaula:- that lamb sounds delish, and I could cook it in the slow cooker that I own, though I have to admit it wa a christmas pressie last year, and I have only had it out the box once!:o

I too am partial to a good chicken salad, with lots of mayo and so on but now the cold weather is here I like stew!! (minus the dumplings!)

I think if I can get through this blip abit unscathed then I think (hope :D) that it will be plain sailing from here on in.

    Many thanks again guys xx

oh the slow cooker in winter is a boon for us lowcarbers all those lovely stews u can make in it, if u add lots of veg u can take some out whizz it up and bung it back in to thicken the stew rather than resorting to flour etc...... i add the dumplings after for the rest of the clan

Hope you don't mind me jumping in here (I'm not low carbing) but this reminded me of something I made that went down well with my family.

Salmon pizza -you use thinly sliced salmon fillets to make the base. Lay them on a baking tray and cover with tomato sauce, veg and cheese and bake.

The recipe is from Fay Ripley's book -title escapes me atm.
  • I'm not low carbing either (could never give up potatoes:(, but have significantly cut back on refined wheat products-I find they bloat me, but love bread SO much :() but we recently had a lovely low carb dinner (I think! as I said not following diet so unsure if tomatoes etc are allowed!), with spaghetti squash (roasted with some rapeseed oil and black pepper) and italian sausage meatballs with a roasted tomato sauce. Was really good and tasty. Also had cavolo nero with it. You could make beef meatballs if you are worried about fillers in the sausages
