    louise i got that too

dippy do a search on the internet there are a TON of recipes all over the place u certainly shouldnt be having boring food,, heres a few MSE ideas for u

bung some meat and whatever veg u want in your slowcooker, to thicken it remove some veg whizz it up and stir it back in that way u arent using some carby thickener

grow yr own salad in a old mushroom pot on the windowsill, lettuce leaves all year round for the price of a pack of seeds

u can cook most things u normally cook just replace carby items eg use runner beans instead of spaghetti or rice, use cabbage leaves in place of pasta in lasagna

u can make rice with cauliflower, can also make a pizza base with either cauli or zucchini

lol i could go on and on but theres a start

  • Hi All

I embarked on a low carb way of eating 8 weeks ago. This has done wonders for the old waist line (18lbs down :j) and I no longer suffer with serious cramps from IBS like I did before as I have cut out all (well mainly) the crap and white bread etc.

However, I am now starting to struggle for meal ideas, and there are only so many ways to cook a sausage!! I have brought a few cook books but they don't seem to cater to all the familys needs (our youngest is 1 and has a serious nut allergy) so was wondering if all you kind people out there could maybe lend a few suggestions?

Thanking you in advance. :D xx

Pork steaks/loins, cooked in a little butter, a small teaspoon of mustard and a glug of cream, deeeelish!
    Served with green veg.

Have you tried low carb pasta?
If youre 8 weeks in I assume youre introducing more carbs? Low carb pasta is actually quite nice and not desperately high in carbs, obv don't go wild and have mountains of it though:eek:
How about Carbonara? cook bacon & mushrooms in a pan, mix with lo-carb pasta then mix in some cream and loads of black pepper.

    Or Stir frys?

Steak in mushroom and cream sauce with veg, frying steak isnt at all expensive and is nice flash fried in butter with loads of white pepper.

I felt so much healthier when i cut out carbs too, though my arteries were probably suffering for it a bit, :D all i seemed to eat was different meats in cream sauces
Just because you are offended, doesn't mean you are right
  • Well done on the weight loss!

I usually do low carb for a week or so before holidays/weddings, etc, some things I eat:

    Omelettes- ham, cheese, mushroom, tomato
    Roast chicken and veg
    Steak, fried mushrooms, salad
    Bacon, egg, mushrooms, tomato
Homemade meatballs in tomato sauce, salad
    Lamb chops, roasted veg

    Hope that helps

  • Hi Guys

Thanks so much for the advice.

Deeds-the pork lion and steak in cream sauce sound delish!! and will be giving them a go. We have been having stir frys and lots of salads but am slowly getting used to them.

Katycocoa- Not sure why but I have never thought of meat balls, have had every variation on mince you can imagine but no meatballs!! will be doing them from now on.

And many thanks pink-winged, I will be having alook at those places you mentioned, I need all the inspiration I can get.

    Thanks again Guys :D

    SP xx

As a variation for the pork loins: brown them and transfer to ovenproof dish, pile on sliced veg (I use mushrooms, peppers and onions) then cover with this sauce. Sauce made from tbsp cornflour & 2tbsps soy sauce mixed then add half pt orange juice and I put in a splash of sherry. Plenty of pepper. It takes about 45mins to and hour on 190 degrees. We eat it with something green and any carb you're allowing yourself.

Do you mean that your children are on a low carb diet as well? I do hope not because this really isn't a suitable eating regime for children.
