I think they are allowed to include it, provided that they differentiate between pregnancy related and normal sickleave.
What I don't know is whether they are allowed not to put it on the reference at all. I suspect they either have to put ALL time off for sick leave on, and differentiate for pregnancy related and normal, or put nothing at all on about sick leave, but might then be asked the question anyway. Otherwise, they are giving a misleading reference. Say, for example a woman has on her CV that she did a 6 month project involving new skills but in fact she was off with a pregnancy related illness for 4 of those 6 months. If the reference said she had no days sick leave, that would give a very distorted impression of her input on the project and the experience she has using these new skills, so the employer surely should either say 4 months off pregnancy related, or just not mention sick leave at all?Ems - I would say it should be recorded as it is a fact that you have been off & references must be factual.
You are quite right in that it shouldn't be considered by the next employer - but they may well find another reason to select someone above you (but I hope this wouldn't happen).
I can see why it should be on there but I just find it frustrating as it's now going to be blatently obvious that we are TTC and in the current jobs market it's only going to put potential employers off.
We are having some outplacement support to help with CVs, job hunting etc and the woman I met with told me to take my email address off my cv as it contains the year I was born and employers will see it and assume I'm TTC or have children and that will count against me (although they would have to find some other reason to hire me of course!).

Afternoon guys,
hope all is well, hugs for those with AFfingers crossed for lots of bfp's.
Kitten Pie you sound very talented at cooking, I love to cook but don't do half as much as I should as OH is a fusspot.
Zippy, i love to craft too but gave up for a while and wanted to make some xmas cards this year but struggled to get my mojo back. Whats your favourite craft?
Emsbet, i would definately suggest contacting HR, whilst your reference does need to be factual its unfair to be penalised for mc/ttc.
I'm still ill, have managed 1/2 a portion of mash and gravy since thursday nighttemp has gone down but still can't keep anything inside me
negative opk too. So looks like i shouldn't have worried about ovulation x
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.
xx Mama to a gorgeous Cranio Baby xx
