Any world dominaters got a kindle? I'm under instruction to come up with some things I'd like as "main present" ideas, but the only things I can come up with are for the house, so dh tells me off
the kindle is basically my only idea, short of a bracelet I'd only wear once in a blue moon, but I'm an old fashioned book girl generally speaking, so it's mainly the free/supremely cheap ebooks that appeal (i have the kindle app on my phone but I think reading too much on a backlit screen made my eye twitch for a week!).. Anyone got any (completely and shamelessly off topic) opinions?
As for ttc, I've still got clear stretchy cm, without any red flecks (just the one earlier in the week) or spotting, so I'm trying not to get my hopes upI guess even if there's no bfp, if I got ov vaguely right then not as much spotting and a slightly shorter cycle again are positives in and of themselves...
And no, secrets, I won't test yet!just cos we're In the AM doesn't mean it's FMU :rotfl:

Not sure on the kindle, I always like the idea of a real book and going to the library. I find it hard to know what I want.
My mum has one and absolutely loves it as she gets the daily paper on it and everything.Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500

See, I find spending maybe £90 on something to read just free books on a bit ridiculous, but as a frivolous toy (i tend to have to justify every penny:o) it might be a nice novelty...? Things I struggle with specifically is that you can't regift the books you buy (whether to charity or whatnot) or lend the books to other people, like you can with "real" books, and if you wanted a different ebook reader in the future you couldn't (as far as I know) transfer kindle books onto a non-kindle device/app running device. They would be big issues in me agreeing to spend money on downloaded books iyswim. But I genuinely can't think of anything else non-housey!
(I think the other problem is that I envisaged asking for prams etc this year...)"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0 -
I understand, my gift this this year was stuff for the boys and a family canvas print (was hoping people would club together for that) so I am now without any ideas just things which pop in my head like other piping tips for icing etc.
I am having difficulty with oh presents, although we aren't really doing christmas I would like to at least get him a little something for his birthday (1st Jan) again was thinking something daddy orientated and now have to avoid.Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500

Oh man, yeah...:( What kind of budget are you thinking? Would some kind of technology fit the bill? I was gonna get mine a watch, and arrange that my parents got him accessories for his (relatively new) tablet pc. Tonight he sprung on me that he would really like a bicycle! It can be done, but it's a complete about-face... It would solve bits and pieces of our transport issues too, as we share one car between us (and I can't really use public transport because of my conditions).
anyway, back to you, what about a watch with a nice simple inscription? Is he a jewellery type of guy? Or a bluray player? anything along those kind of lines?"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0 -
He is really hard, we generally have about £10-£20 budget, he has a wii and watch etc and only other thing would be a playstation 3 or xbox 360 but they are both really expensive and not sure I want another games machine in the house especially when we are hoping for bearcubs next year so don't want to waste money. Did look at some graphic novels but he tends to buy things that he wants.
Perhaps a subscription, more expensive but not by much but would be a continuation of what I got him last year. He is so hard to buy for. Looking around the flat for ideas.
Bicycle sounds like a good and practical idea.Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500

It is a hard one when they buy what they want when they want it (to some degree) especially when your budget isn't that high (ours is now generally around £40 for each other, and around £8 for others, but has been more like £10 before). What about, beard trimmers/clippers/anything like that? Clothes? Razor set? If he's a jewellery kind of guy maybe a signet ring/dog tag/id bracelet engraved with the date your boys were born or a favourite verse/poem/saying?"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0

I like the idea of giving him something to remember the boys. My mum got me a locket last week for my b'day (a large chunky one) which I am getting pictures for. He doesn't wear jewellery but would like to give him something, perhaps a locket type thing for his keys?? hmm
