Sorry to hear your news LemonMelon, hope the ops goes well and keep popping back to update so we know how you're doing
I really hope you get a BFP for Christmas Mishka!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Nicki - I read some posts the other day on FF where one woman had somehow been able to video and put on youtube what she saw under the microscope and videod at different time spans after DTD. Quite interesting to watch. Ill see if I can find the link.
and as for TMI - some of the women on there are even more obsessed than us lot. Especially some of them who are determined to choose the sex of their child - some of the things they do actually quite shocked me!
Ok found the link - the other videos are are posted on the right. I think theres 3 or 4.

I've developed a new seduction technique. I went to the loo before bed last night, then walked into the bedroom and announced 'I have stretchy mucus!'. It seemed to do the trick
*hugs* lemonmelon, I hope the operation goes well and you are back on your feet quickly. Let us know how you get on.
So, ladies. Mooncups. Worth it? Any good? I want one but I'm reluctant to spend £20 on it if I'm hoping to get upduff soon, as you have to *cough* 'upgrade' post-birth apparently. Having said that, I spend about £8 per cycle on sanitary protection, so I'd only have to not catch for three cycles for it to be worth it... argh. Someone tell me what to do!0 -

Depends on how squeamish you are! I'm not really, so they don't bother me in the least.
Pros
Reusable, good for environment
Wont get caught short if out for longer than you expect with AF
Seems to make AF a bit shorter
Helps with cramps
Needs changing less frequently than tampons so good if you want to do something for a long uninterrupted period on a heavier day
Some people say better when ttc not to use tampons, so not introducing toxins such as bleach etc into vagina and altering PH balance. Not sure I think this has much impact, but at this point will try anything
Far more comfortable than a tampon on a light day, or when just spotting.
Cons
You need to learn the knack of inserting and removing, which can take a few goes
Need to insert correctly otherwise they will leak. They are however very reliable once you have learned the knack
Can be a little messy to empty and clean. Easier when you have access to a sink, not so good in a toilet cubicle when out and about.
Can be a little uncomfortable until you find the right length of the stalk. I cut mine off completely and it is fine though.
Other people may say eeeewwww if you admit you use one
For walby, some people use them when ttc to keep the semen close to the cervix for longer as an alternative to lying in bed for half an hour or so. Given my experiment this morning, I'm not sure this is worth doing now, but I will repeat the experiment if I get a chance with a fresher sample in more fertile CM.0 -

^^^^ see walby definitely not a stupid question! I didn't know this

This would be a big incentive for me; I get quite bad AF cramps - they're not long or particularly heavy, normally about 4 days of relatively 'normal' flow (i.e. I only ever really use regular tampons), but they blimmin' hurt!
I'm not squeamish at all, and I know that a few of my friends have them (and bang on all the time about how amazing they are!) so that wouldn't put me off either. I'm obviously just a bit tight because I don't want to spend the money on it yet.
I also read somewhere that you could sterilise them in the dishwasher. That made me _pale_ a little bit - and I can't see DH being very happy about that idea!0 -

I converted about 4 months ago now, and wouldn't go back to tampons and/or towels now. More comfortable, more reliable, and I just feel 'cleaner' throughout the whole thing which helps to lift my mood.
The only other con I would add, and sorry if this is TMI, but I find that if I am particularly windy one day, the mooncup seems to trap the wind (I think it might push against the er....well I'm sure you can guess) and that can be quite uncomfortable.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
I could just imagine OH going in to a dish washer to be greated by a mooncup. "what are those dear?" "well they are my mooncups", "????".
I am supposed to be tidying up the house ready for later when my friend comes over. I had better remember to put the cbfm and everything away. I'm meant to be cooking tea for us, but she's wheat intolerant and everything I can think of, it's sauce contains wheat. SO may have be be roast chicken with jacket tate and veg, hardly exciting but it'll mean I don't make her ill.
OH still has been refusing to BD as he isn't in the 'mood', grrrrrr, I think this calls for some drastic measures before it's too late this month. May ask if I can take a picture of my friend's baby tonight and make him really broody.
For some reason my blumming ipod has just decided to play xmas songs at me!! grrrr.Remember never judge someone that makes a mistake, because in six months time it may be you that makes the next mistake.0
