Ovarian drilling is nowhere as bad as it sounds. Its done under GA and I don't recall any post op pain. It's hugely successful for PCOS I understand. When I had it done they didn't know why it worked, just that it does! They might know more these days.

It does sound pretty awful though :D

    The wonders of anaesthetic eh!

Hmmmm. I don't THINK so. You definitely get more in your first 2 pay packets than in your later ones. I can't see how they could "even it out" when you go down to statutory, as you don't necessarily know until the end of maternity leave exactly when you are going back. Would it be a deal breaker? When you get your BFP and are ready to tell work, you could check how they do it, so you can work out your budget more accurately.

    Just curious
  • Can you take your maternity leave and decide not to go back at the end of it?
  • tthanks QQ, we did indeed BD last night and I think we'll have another shot tonight, just thought it was a little early to be oving? at least if I ovulate today I might have something resembling a 2ww before af. that would be nice :)

I'm going to make spaghetti and meatballs tonight - like lady and the tramp :)

Yes. You would just resign & give your contractual notice period.

Good luck, I'm sure with your determination, you'll either shift another stone or get pg bt Christmas:)

I had clomid for 6 cycles when ttc my first. To be honest after 6 cycles without a BFP I was ready to try something else, and would have been less than impressed to be told to persevere with it for another 6 months. By the time you get to the point of it being prescribed, you have usually been trying unsuccessfully for at least a year anyway, so another year on this just delays things further.
    Good point.
How do they make you ov for IVF/IUI then? The injections, clomid, or another drug?
But the other more in depth investigations like lap and dye were not offered until after clomid had stopped.
I can't have a lap until I lose more weight anyway, and GP didn't want to do it at all while TTC (there's a history of endometriosis in our family too, which was why it came up in the first place, I understand it's different in fertility cases)

I also understand what you're (and the research are) saying about if it's going to work, it will in 6months, I guess now it's come to it, I'm viewing it a bit as a safety net option, like I do with my emergency fund bank account :o

Either way, I'll cross that bridge if/when I come to it

You sometimes have to repay some money (more so with the company maternity scheme than the government one

There was another newbie that I haven't welcomed, but I can't remember their user name

With stronger drugs than clomid, usually injected. They take over your whole cycle and artificially control all of the hormones, monitor you several times per week via ultrasound and tweak levels up and down depending on what's going on in there.

On maternity pay, you never have to pay back statutory mat pay if you decide not to go back. If you get enhanced contractual mat pay, eg teachers, you might have to pay the extra element back if you don't go back or leave within a certain period of returning.

Sorry for being a bit slow on the SMP stuff.....

    So if it's been a 4 week month you'd get £514.92 (after the initial 6 weeks). But if it's a 5 week month you'd get £643.65?

They don't even it out so that you always get the same amount each month (like they do with your salary)?

When i gave my notice of my Mat Leave Date in writing my work did a letter confirming my dates with a Table of the Monthly pay dates and how much I would get each month.

NO month was ever the same. But it helped to see what I would get laid out. Now I am on the last Unpaid 3 months :eek::eek::eek::eek: DH is being fab but I have NOT helped by just buying the Cath Kidston Buggy :o
