Talk about good timing0 -

Hi fannyanna
No 1. I had ovaries drilled which kickstarted ovulation but we still didn't conceive. We started an IVF cycle but I did not respond well enough to the drugs and there were not going to be enough eggs to proceed to egg collection, so they converted the cycle to an IUI which was successful
No 2 is my miracle baby. Conceived 3 months after giving birth to number 1 whilst 100% breastfeeding and without having a period since the birth.
No 3 took 23 months. We had one failed IUI at around 19 months and were then told our only chance of success was ICSI. Chances of success quoted at less than 5% so we decided to be content with the two we had.
On maternity leave, it was paid monthly into my bank account in the same way as my salary had been. There is a qualifying period, and they look at how much you earned during that period and calculate your 90% based on that. So if you get paid overtime, its worth doing some during that qualifying period. It's worked out by week not calendar month. Does that answer your questions about mat pay?
ETA having read your post again, I think I understand what you are asking! You are paid 6 weeks at 90% so the first 6 weeks salary after your leave starts will be at that rate. If it is a 5 week pay run, then you'll get 5 weeks worth, and if a 4 week one, you'll get 4 just in the same way as you would on salary. But if you only get statutory mat pay, you'll only get 6 weeks at the higher rate in total, however the payment is phased.0 -
I have another question for Nicki or anyone else that has already done maternity leave......
In regards to statutory maternity pay how does this get paid to you by your employer? As SMP is a weekly benefit and most employers pay their staff monthly do they work out what should be paid per month or does the amount very depending on whether it's been a 4 or 5 week month?
It will be paid monthly & you will get a payslip as usual as it is paid through the company payroll0 -

 Is that as horrific as it sounds?
Well you certainly haven't had an easy time with your babies (other than miracle babba). Just goes to show that you need to have hope and keep going.
I did ask this question before but it didn't show on the thread (I obviously didn't hit the submit relpy button) - is the bubba in the picture one of yours? If so I have one word for you - beautiful!0 -
Sorry for being a bit slow on the SMP stuff.....
So if it's been a 4 week month you'd get £514.92 (after the initial 6 weeks). But if it's a 5 week month you'd get £643.65?
They don't even it out so that you always get the same amount each month (like they do with your salary)?0 -
Awww thank you. That's number 3 aged 10 days old.
Ovarian drilling is nowhere as bad as it sounds. Its done under GA and I don't recall any post op pain. It's hugely successful for PCOS I understand. When I had it done they didn't know why it worked, just that it does! They might know more these days.0 -

Hmmmm. I don't THINK so. You definitely get more in your first 2 pay packets than in your later ones. I can't see how they could "even it out" when you go down to statutory, as you don't necessarily know until the end of maternity leave exactly when you are going back. Would it be a deal breaker? When you get your BFP and are ready to tell work, you could check how they do it, so you can work out your budget more accurately.0
