    Thanks for the advice ladies.

The job is FT, and its pretty intense. It's a graduate scheme, so is not designed for people to be running off and having babies shortly after starting. There is a 5 month training period after which I will be qualified. That said, I am more than capable of doing the job (and doing it well) and I wouldn't be giving it up to become a SAHM if I have anymore children so they will get their money's worth out of me.

    .

Based on this Fwiw I reckon it's the right decision to carry on ttc. I used to work for a company where I was a middle manager in a team of 7. I had a very honest conversation with my boss one day when I was getting grumpy about all the maternity cover I was having to do. Her response? "Yes it's hard on you but in 5 years I think I'll have 4 of those pregnant ladies still with me and you'll be off doing other stuff".

5 years later she was right. Because the company looked after them, yes there were 2 or 3 years when they weren't really there but they have all now clocked up nearly 10 years service on top of maternity.

I on the other hand went off to climb the greasy pole elsewhere!

Lilymay, do you know for sure that your new boss won't be best pleased if you get pregnant?

I had only been in my current job for a couple of months when I got pregnant with DS - I hadn't even finished my 3 month probationary period when I found out :o I was dreading telling my boss as I'd been taken on initially to do a specific project, which was about a year's worth of work, and obviously wasn't going to finish it. But my boss really couldn't have been more please for me (or, if he was putting it on, he's an exceptional actor!)

It's the kind of small company where the chief exec knows everyone by name and he has even asked if I'm planning on having more! (To which I should have asked whether he was planning to pay more than SMP next time, but hey ho...)

And as we all know, TTC can be a bumpy road. There's no way of knowing when you will catch that sticky bean.

The situation I'm in now is that I need to do more qualifications before the end of the year, and it's not something I can rush through. If I get pregnant quickly then I'm only just going to have finished before I go off on maternity leave and will have to sit some exams while heavily pregnant. My original plan was to wait til DS's 2nd birthday to start TTC so I'd have loads of time. But what if it takes months to concieve? I'm 37 now and don't want to wait too long. If I catch soon and the exams become a problem then I'll deal with that issue when it arises - but no point worrying about it now as it may turn out not to be an issue at all.

QQ - CBFM hasn't picked up an OV and it has every month previous. But there was one morning where I didn't use FMU around normal ov time so guess I could have done then. I haven't had any CM to speak of till yesterday and today when it could be described as cloudy EWCM if that makes sense?! I don't get much anyway so can never really judge from that tbh.
Hope you caught the eggy:o But there's still a chance you haven't ov'd yet, so keep BDing:)

and having a nice young doctor is not a problem for normal things, but when i have to discuss my spots, fat, whiskers and greasy hair i'd rather it wasn't a nice young doctor! lol

OH and I have discussed it at length and he wants a bigger family as much as I do, so I think we are just going to carry on as we are and TTC.
    Let nature decide!:j
EDIT: QQ, I hope things go well this cycle and I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for a full board clear out soon!
    Thank you, how are you?

I was trying to post quickly and stealthily so I wouldn't cause any upset but pleased to see everyone on here, I do miss all the random discharge questions etc! I wouldn't be at this point without you ladies :o baby update in white below so you can avoid if you want or scroll over. - argh, im not as clever as the last user who did this so is just uber small, sorry!

We seem to have got over initial paranoia that how could everything go right so quickly. baby has clocked up some airmiles so having flown back from China yesterday, I am jetlagged and really cant be bothered to go downstairs to eat but hubby is out - hence the multiple postings today :rotfl: we are 22 weeks today and some movements, 20 wk scan is tomorrow as last time baby did not want to tell us gender or even move from an odd head down position so just keeping fingers crossed there are no anomalies. as always, i am ever paranoid the day before a scan :/

I like the thought of a harrods baby, or even john lewis, if it came with some of their lovely nursery furniture!

Bloody 'ell :( Life is so cruel. I hope your friend has all the support she needs.

Bigbird - No, I don't know he won't be pleased, but I can imagine. Ah well, he has hired me knowing I have a 6 month old (I think he liked that I'm up for a challenge:rotfl:) and I can fight my corner when needed :)

Zcrat - I think you're right with that one, I would be a fool to give this opportunity up and having children has, so far, only made me more determined to succeed. I want to give them the sort of life I had as a child :)

It's so nice having you ladies to chat to about things like this. Having an unbiased opinion really helps.

Anyway, back to TTC. As I know diddly squat about when I ovulate, can you ladies give me some idea as to when I should start using the Ov sticks I bought? My last cycle appears to have been 29 days, but the others had been 31. I am CD 1 today.
