TMI coming up (look away if squeamish) but I'm converting to the idea of Chinese medicine...
The chinese doctor I've been seeing doesn't speak a lot of english, so haven't been talking to him a lot, except at the first consultation where he had an interpreter. One of the things he thought was symptomatic though was my short light periods since the miscarriage. Yesterday I pitched up for my acupuncture, and he took my pulse, and then asked was I coming to the end of my period. Given that I hadn't said I was on my period, and I've only been seeing him for a few weeks so he can't know my cycle, it was pretty impressive he knew I was on at all. When I said I had just started and it was light as usual, he nodded sagely and put the needles in, put a lamp on my feet (usually he puts it over my stomach) and left without saying a word. As you all know I slept soundly from mid evening yesterday (:)) until mid morning today, and AF is suddenly very heavy and have passed some massive clots too. I haven't had a heavy bleed since the loss, and even when I miscarried I hardly bled at all, so I wonder whether perhaps I've had some retained products in there all this time which have suddenly cleaned themselves out? Rather impressively, I've had hardly any cramping at all too, which is a bonus.
That's really interesting Nicki, I read somewhere that acupuncture can help old blood to move through.
I popped into a acupuncture chain shop near me a cple of weeks ago and the lady the felt my pulse and told me I had very low energy.
What's the name of this place you are going to in LS?
Well I found out that a sort of ex friend of mine, who is TTC has had all of her test done at the doctors and of course is utterly perfect inside and everything is working. Its made me sad and mad and jealous and all the things I don't like to be, but feel I can't stop!Baby 2b born March 2013! :j:j:j0 -

It's really tough isn't it. I find myself thinking some shockingly uncharitable thoughts about people that are my friends, let alone strangers and ex-mates.
I never thought I'd end up jealous of another woman's uterus but hey, here we are0 -
2b and Tealover - it's awful isn't it and I hate feeling like it. Girl I work with is at her 12week scan this afternoon and I avoided her all morning as I just didn't walk to talk to her. Just when she was getting ready to leave I get a txt message from hospital reminding me about my appointment in 2 weeks time with fs. Great she falls pregnant quickly and is off for a scan and I have been trying for 2.5 yrs and am waiting for more tests - life just seems so unfair0

A bit of (bad?) news - just spoke to the dr re my CD21 progesterone blood tests and she mentioned in passing that the ratio of my other hormones might suggest mild PCOS!
I was too shocked to really ask proper questions, it was a phone appt so I might have to book another appt to speak to her about this properly
Im shocked though - dont know anyone in my family with PCOS, and no one has really had any history of fertility problems that we know of
Dr said not to worry as progesterone levels were good and suggest that I am ovulating, and my periods are regular etc
Just hoping there is not going to be further bad news, and I really need to stop reading up about PCOS now in case I scare myself - stress is the last thing we need when TTCing!
The bloods were for something else but the Dr added in progesterone as it happened to be at CD21, I was just expecting routine results.I did mention to her that we'd been having unprotected sex for a year, and that we now actively trying, but she said to just keep trying actively for another 6 months, and if still nothing then to come back
Felt like I was being fobbed off a bit, esp as Im over 30, and its my first.. I think I'll give it a couple more months, then find out more about the 'mild PCOS' if nec..no point adding more stress to the mix!We got rid of the kids. The cat was allergic.

Off to the GP in the next few mins and suddenly feeling really nervous. Have managed to convince myself that he'll take one look at my notes then tell me there's no point even trying.0

Tealover - good luck at the doctors, let us know how you get on. I am sure they will take your concerns seriously.0

mogwai, I have PCOS as do a lot of the ladies posting on this thread. Mild PCOS isn't anything to worry about, it just means you produce a lot of follicles each month, more than most women, but everyone produces multiple follicles anyway. It is only really a problem where you produce multiple follicles but none grows to the correct size, so none releases an egg. If it has been confirmed that you are ovulating regularly though, there should be nothing to worry about.
Interestingly PCOS is hereditary and is passed down the maternal bloodline. So although it CAN cause fertility problems, most often it doesn't. Even if it is adversely affecting your fertility, there are quite a lot of things which can be done simply and easily to help. Women with PCOS usually respond well to Clomid for example. I didn't, but started ovulating again after having my ovaries drilled. Its also one of those conditions which tends to come and go, so you can have periods in your life when it is causing you not to ovulate, but then you will spontaneously start again. Finally, if you have any excess weight, this will make PCOS worse, and losing weight often kick starts ovulation in women with PCOS. The guideline is usually to lose 10% of your bodyweight if you have a high BMI.0 -
