Good news today ultrasound scan on my ovaries was clear and the scanning lady said she could see an egg ready to be released. How magical to see that.

Welcome. As you may guess from my name, I'm 40 too. I never wanted kids & then had a change of mind. Am realistic that the chances are against (statistically speaking) but giving it a good go!

If you think you are about to ov, no need to give it a day between BDing. Many who are more knowledgeable on here than me will be along to remind that the best way to get pg is regular BDing throughout the month.

This isn't too helpful for the likes of me who can take it or leave it once a week and therefore has to plan when to time the effort!

Ask away with the questions - there's plenty of answers to be shared.
How old is OH? Do either of you have kids already?

i was the same, i didint want them, then i did, then i didint, then did, then the OH didnt!! I had to sit him down and give him the chat about being 40 and that time was running out for me. He,finally, after a couple of years of these types of discussions has decided we can try. He's 41 so he's no spring chicken himself! Neither of us have kids.. Just neices and nephews.

What are the statistics of getting pregnant at 40 i wonder?

    40% I believe.

We had dinner with two other child free couples the other week & one randomly said 'do you ever question if you have made the right choice?' We haven't told anyone we are TTC - I have always been clear we were child free by choice.

I just laughed it off - we don't want people to know at this point. There is enough to think about without other people involved.

39 is the cut off for fertility support from NHS (but hopefully we will both be in the 40% without needing it). We are getting basic tests done through the GP at the moment though.

yay for the good news :j
  • Ov today by the looks of things! Mission Valentines conception is on!

QQ, please can you put me down for testing on 29th Feb? X

Would be a chance baby would share my birthday if mission works!
  • Hi all

Can't believe how much I've missed out on in the past few weeks.

Decided to keep my head together after seeing a memorial to all babies with no resting place at our church (which upset me terribly after the mc), which was promptly followed by a friend who was wondering why everyone she knew was having their babies and not her (she's had it now though). Could have slapped her so I'm just avoiding all of her FB posts/pics until I feel more 'ready'.

After a quick scan through the posts of the recent weeks, I can see lots of happy BFP news :j so congrats, and I send my big hugs to those who've not had such good news :grouphug:

Haven't been sure on believing my phone app on my ov date. Previous to the mc, I was on approx 32 day cycles so thought I'd ov around 6th Feb, but the phone thinks I'll ov today :D To be sure to cover both dates, have managed to do quite a lot of bd-ing :D
Hope to test on 29th - maybe it'll be lucky :lovethoug

  • Hello all

I have taken the last couple of weeks out to clear my head but am back on the ttc merry-go-round again! We don't stand much of a chance this month but am looking forward to my next cycle (I would be 12 weeks for my birthday and baby would be due around DH birthday so it would be a double celebration).

I gave in and told my Mum we are ttc. I got really upset when my Grandma died that she would never meet our little one, I never have been very good at keeping a secret from my Mum so a full 3 months is probably a record :)

Welcome to the newbies, sorry I can't remember all the names. I hope your stay here is short.

Massive congratulations to all the BFPs, looks like February is going to be a bumper month :j

((Hugs)) to all those that need them.
  • Welcome back definately blonde, nice to see you again. My mum has been amazing during out ttc journey and I'm so glad I told her.

good news about your ulstrasound Flee, nice to see good news.

Thank you all for your lovely comments and kind words today, it really means a lot and has helped me. mrh is still a bit down and I got upset earlier as he had been plodding along quite happy for 48 years not knowing that he has this problem, which he now only knows about because I want a baby, so I feel quite guilty, which I know is silly, but I can't help it. We are watching Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, which always cheers me up.

    Hope everyone is good x
