TeamLowe, good on you for wanting to lose weight and get a bit fitter. You're right that it'll be better for you in the long run, whether it helps you get PG or just makes things easier when you are PG, it's all good. :) Nice attitude to take about accepting that TTC could take a little longer whilst you get fit, you know what you're working towards and it's a massive incentive! :)

I'm another one who has really vivid dreams so I could never use that to SS! I go through phases of having really exhausting dreams that I've had to take Bach's sleep remedy to try to calm me down before bed! Luckily it's not been too bad for a while but I went through a period of being constantly tired because I felt like I was never switching off, it was awful!

I was just having a play with a due date calculator (figuring out if I got PG this cycle when I'd be due for holiday booking reasons ;)) and was very sad to see that the ones I was looking at don't allow you to enter cycle lengths in the 50-day range! Nice to know just how abnormal I am! :o

Glad the bleeding's on the way out finally Zippy! :D
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

  • Hi ladies, just wondered if I could join you again? :hello:

I was here for a couple of months last year, then me and DH stopped trying for a little while for various reasons - I'd got anaemic and also had a lot of weight to lose. :o

Anyway, we have started trying again this month. Basically not using protection and hoping for the best! Can't remember when my last period was, but think it was around January 14. Can't believe I got so slack putting things in my new diary only two weeks into the New Year! :o I've got to get more organised!

Last time I had my blood checked my iron levels had gone up, but I'm having another test on Friday as I was advised to keep taking the tablets for a while. I'm still taking folic acid (have been since June last year!!)

And I still have a lot of weight to lose, but I have lost just over four pounds this month, so that's a start. Reckon that's probably what I put on at Christmas.

We're going on holiday in June, so we were going to wait to try again until then, but we've decided to just start trying again (or just not preventing) and see what happens. :)

Does anyone think it is worth me getting an ovulation monitor/ovulation stick things? I have pretty regular periods, but is it worth finding out exactly when I ovulate?

Looking forward to catching up with you all.

    Lily x

Welcome back Lily  I think ovulation monitor/sticks will take away from the NTNP ;) Try it for a few months without, then if you're getting disheartened start up with them then, I say. Don't pile on too much stress right from the off :)
ETA: glad to hear the anaemia has improved somewhat :)

:rotfl: you make me laugh Secrets. It's at 3pm. ;) Different appointment was this morning ;)

Welcome back Lily, hope your stay is short and sweet :) fwiw i'm trying to be relaxed so not using ov sticks or monitor atm and just bd every 2-3 days, tracking Ov signs and hoping for the best. might get a CBFM next cycle though, although the money i had earmarked for that and the sticks was the same as for my gym membership so hmmm
Thanks BigZ and Birdie, i'm going to try my best, got a long long way to go to my ultimate goal of a bmi less than 30 (about five stone i thinks :/) but i ain't guna get there at all if i don't start
got a meeting tonight (which i'm dreading, as the officers have been awful with me over something that wasn't my fault) hopefully it'll be short and on the way home i'm guna check out a couple of places. was just going to go with whatever is cheapest but a colleague pointed out that i'm better paying more for a place i feel comfortable in cos then i'll actually go. going for cheapest and hating it would be a false economy x x

    Hi Lily and welcome

Lots of the girls on here use OPKS and monitors etc., but you can also do it by monitoring your cervical mucus (CM), it is most fertile when it is clear and very stretchy (called EW - egg white - CM). you will then ovulate in the next few days.

It depends what you want to do. I monitor my CM, but I have regular cycles and my CM usually changes very obviously, but if you are irregular or not sure about your CM then OPKs can be helpful.

Wise colleague :) I've still a long way to go to <30 BMI, but I'm over half way there now, and I can't do the gym, so if I can do it, you can too! scale.gif Go for it, you've nothing to lose and everything to gain! hi5.gif
Well, you've weight to lose, and then pg weight to gain, but that kind of steps all over my point! :p

Thanks FA! :D I'm not counting my chickens just yet, I was randomly spotting yesterday, but I'm really hoping that's the last of it now!!fingersx.gif I feel like I need to whisper just in case! :shhh::rotfl:

    How you doing? :)

I’m good thank you. After 4 months my bleeding has stopped too. I know what you mean about not wanting to jinx yourself. I initially didn’t want to say it out loud but it’s been 2 weeks now so I think it’s safe to say that it’s over for now.

It stopped just at the right time too. I’d just resigned myself to the fact that I would need to go on the contraceptive pill again. I had the prescription and everything but it stopped just in time.

Aargh, now the thought's in my head I had to go and have a look:o I don't really know my cycle length but I guessed at 40 days (roughly average) and it gave me an EDD of my late Grandad's birthday.

It's fab that you're joining a gym. I've been making small changes with my diet and need to do more exercise now too.

Hiya, thank you! :) Well I haven't noticed much EWCM lately, but will keep an eye out for it, thanks. Then perhaps think about the monitor/kit after the hols.
