Sorry Strider your wrong most keys if not all keys now have to be programmed via the diagnostic port on the car, whats more an awful lot more cannot be reused and the ones on ebay are a waste of money. Alfa/fiat being one of the worst.

Even If I added an extra key to an Alfa and forgot to put the original key back in that original key would not work that vehicle again no matter what I did to it. Please dont waste your money on Ebay keys.

Nothing wrong with asking owners of these cars....

The VX owners clubs have members who own 2nd hand official "Tech2" diagnostics machines and can do everything the stealerships can do.

It is NOT illegal to start a car and leave it running to warm up, the manufacturer "recommends" it to save fuel and thereby keep the "green" nutters at bay.

  • Hi i need a spare car key for a Peugeot 206 (T reg). What are the cheapest methods for both Remote + Normal key cut?

I read that Timpsons do car key cuts and at good prices?

Timpsons are not always the cheapest and most cannot do the latest car keys with rolling code. have a ring around some auto locksmiths in the area.

They wanted £27 to supply and cut a basic ford blue chip key.

Bought key off ebay for £8.50 delivered and paid £2 to have it cut at my local keycutters
    in the market.

Had them cut a security key & he said its going to cost £3 for the key including cutting, He said it
as though it was dear, I didnt tell him my sister in law usually pays £6.50 for the same ones.

  • Have a look at keysinthepost.com, I've just bought an alfa Romeo key from them for £30, and they cut it from a photo of my key, amazing. It's probably worth giving them a call, as not all their stuff is listed on the website.

    timpson do keys too

however with newer keys with unique transponders, coding makes it difficult

have a mk5 golf and it appears going thrid party or DIY route is pretty difficult

Golfs are a doddle to do. see the ALA or ICL websites for an autolcoksmith in your area.

can you be more specific? key cutting is easy, but it's coding it with the immobiliser which is the hard part
