How about splitting them and then toasting the cut sides under the grill - perhaps with some grated cheese on for lunch tomorrow.

Tonights evening meal was chicken, sweetcorn and pasta salad served with jacket potatoes and some home-grown salad leaves (using up some chicken from yesterday's roast chicken and the last 3 spring onions and quarter of a red onion that were 'lurking' in the salad drawer). Used some plain yoghourt with the mayonnaise to give it a 'tang'.
Remaining chicken breast is going to become a chicken casserole tomorrow using up some cherry tomatoes that are going very soft (how come we finished up with 3 packs of these things?).

lol, that always happens to me. Yesterday I halved them, put them in a roasting dish with 4 garlic cloves, black pepper and some basil. Roasted them for about an hour, then whizzed them up with some 2 tsp sugar and creme freche. Its now in the freezer ready for when we next have pasta.Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we should dance....0 -

Me muvva--bless her--bought a MrT white value loaf especially for me to make a bread pud so she could have some:D Since making my own we never have bread left over:p So yesterday I snaffled one crust for my cook's perk to have with marmite & the remaining three slices went into a Bread & Butter pud for two of the offspring...the third one doesn't like it, Pup can't have it cuz of the dried fruit & I did a Quality Control test on just a teaspoonful;)
So...to explain how my Bread & Butter Pud tastes..... ....it has the texture of cheesecake, tastes a bit like it too really, but with sultanas ...perhaps more like a syllabubRecipe follows....
For a three-pint casserole dish.
4 slices of bread from a large loaf
Butter/spread
Dried fruit of your choice
Mixed spice or nutmeg/cinnamon/ginger to your taste
2 medium eggs
milk
Sugar
1) Butter both sides of the bread & cut into fours. Lay some in the bottom, & just begin to raise, up the sides of the greased dish.
2) Sprinkle on some of the fruit. If you have a particularly sweet tooth, you can sprinkle a little sugar on too, but I don't add any sugar at all! The sweetness comes from the fruit.
3) Keep making the layers, making sure you end with a bread one.
4) Beat the two eggs & use enough milk to make up to a pint. Stir in some mixed spice.
5) Use a strainer & pour the eggie milk slowly over the bread, making sure you get into every corner.
6) Cover the dish & leave in the fridge for a couple of hours SIZE=1]it's even better to make this first thing in the morning, fridge, then cook for evening meal[/SIZE
7) Cook in centre of a medium oven for approx 45mins or until no liquid remains.
Hope it comes out OK for you, & as others have said, with a bit of practise you can substitute the sliced bread with all manner of things. I think there's a savoury version that uses mince, veg & herbs in place of fruit, sugar & spices.

Mmm bread and butter pud. In my mind it's always grouped with rice pud but I think that's just because they are both puds mum used to do when we had lots of extra milk to use up!!
If you soak the dried fruit in dark rum to start with - it's even more tasty!working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
If you make it with dried apricots instead of normal brown dried fruit try putting some white chocolate into your custard, works well with left over Easter Eggs (bit out of season) but youve just reminded me how yummy it is...0

Morning everyone
Today we are having bacon and eggs for tea as I have alot of eggs for some reason. Also got about 1/2pint of milk so I'll make a batter for freezing with that and somemore of the eggs. No doubt I will be back later as I have to clear out the old fridge/freezer that is currently in the playroom in preparation for it to go into the garage.Sorting my life out one day at a time0
