I bought a bunch of bananas a couple of days ago from Tesco, they were in date and not reduced.
Today half of them are going black!

Do you have a breadmaking recipe for banana bread please?

oooh sorry sb44 - it's a cakey-type banana bread. But the recipe is on here somewhere. I'll go and see if I can find it and attach the link.
This one was posted by Roversbabe in 2005 - it's not exactly the same as mine but there are about 4 or 5 versions knocking around this site:
8oz flour (this recipe doesn't state - but I would use Self-Raising Flour)
2oz butter / marg
2oz sugar
2 over-ripe bananas
1 egg
pinch of salt
bit of milk
Rub the butter into the flour, add the pinch of salt. Then add the sugar, mashed up bananas and egg. Mix and add enough milk to make a sticky consistency.
Place in a greased & floured loaf tin and bake at gas mark 4 for 45 mins.
Another useful thing is to google the various Flour manufacturers websites for recipes e.g. Bero; Macdougalls; Homepride etc - I think Be-ro is really good to use (bit biased because I remember my nan having their book when I was very young!).0 -
just made 3 bannana loaves 2 for my freezer and the 3rd for my mum when she has visitors - i had everything in the cupboard so a no spend use up for me.. i also have a couple of very ripe pares in the fruit bowl could i whizz them up and use in the same way as bannana loaf recipe??Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0

Hi all
Today we are having a cooked breakfast with some bacon and sausages that have been lurking in my freezer for some while and i'm using up some beans that have been in my fridge since friday.
Someone asked about bananas going black...i make banana cake and its lovely! (If you want the recipe let me know).
I have some double cream to use up today (what a trauma that will be) i must find some thing to pour it over and eat (i'm sure i'll have to force myself to eat it up......NOT)!
By the way, someone also asked about onions....i chop mine up and freeze them in portions. I then take them out and put them straight into things like spag bog or cassorols etc
I must have thrown more food out before than i realised as all these little bits and bobs add up don't they!0 -
