Why don't you freeze the loaf and take it out as and when you need it instead of trying to munch through a whole loaf ???

Beans on toast (as yummy as it is) must get a bit tedious after 6x in 3 days !!!
    No freezer. No space.

If it is only a small loaf and you get fed up of beans on toast , you could make it into breadcrumbs and freeze them. Then anytime you're making a dish that requires a grated cheese topping, mix the cheese with your breadcrumbs. Great on top of shepherds pie, macaroni cheese, potato bake, pasta bake, the list is just endless and the kids'll eat anything that has this crusty savoury topping.

    No kids.
    Just me.

For lunch today I made soup with half a cup of broth mix (lentils, dried peas and barley) soaked overnight, cup 2 leftover boiled potatoes from yesterday, a cup of leftover peas, sweetcorn and carrots also from yesterday, 2 tubs of frozen chicken stock, half a carton of passata, some onion and a couple of rashers of bacon.

I served it with croutons made from the end of a loaf.

Very satisfying using up bits and bobs. I do find it easier if I don't have a meal plan. Your leftovers should really dictate your next meal.

    Sounds good!

I'd agree that leftovers should dictate your next meal. That's what I do. Today I will be frying a pack of 8 sausages. So that's 2 for a meal now. So then I'll make up mash enough for 3 portions. So that'll be sausages/mash/beans today; sausages/mash/beans tomorrow; 3rd portion of spuds I'll mix with cheese to be cheese/potato pie with beans; remaining 4 sausages will become two meals each being sausages in pitta.

So from cooking 8 sausages and some mash today, I've got today's meal of sausages/mash and the next 4 meals cooked and in the fridge, so that takes me through until Tuesday. Next cooking day will therefore be Wednesday, but I have a pack of 8 crumpets, so that's four meals, which will take me through to Friday. On Friday I run out of food that has to be eaten, so then have the choice of shopping again or going away for bank holiday.

OK, so I have the outsides of the cauliflower that we are having for colli cheese tonight. What can I do with them to avoid waste? Apart from compost.

cauliflower bits - you could chop, blanch and freeze them for soup. I heat up the milk for the sauce and steep the stalks in the milk before making the sauce, and I put the leafy bits in with the florets.

That reminds me, I had some of those soft, sticky Agen prunes that needed using up. I put them in a jar and poured rum over them -I call them Cap'n Jack Sparrow prunes :D . I reckoned that would lengthen their shelf life ;) Only trouble is what to do with them now. They're a bit too strong to eat neat and obviosly no good for the kids. I feel some chocolate would go well with them
