Getting better at not throwing stuff away. Even DD is eating her crusts so that I don't have to throw them out - what a good girl :D

I've just [literally] found a packet of "delicately flavoured pilau rice" in the cupboard dated Sept 06, so I've made it up & we're having that with some bbq thingies from MrT's current £2 offer:p

If any of us survive, I'll see you tomorrow:D cuz I want to close this page before anyone else sees the OOD;)

No problem. Here is the recipe.

    NIIICE!!!!
Started salivating ... then thought it through....

It turns out it makes 24 balls ... 3072 calories!
I KNOW if I made these they'd go down in under 24 hours even if I was hiding them from myself!

    :)

Hi all! Have been watching this thread with interest, as i'm quite loathe to throw food away - especially since my OH was made redundant and things have been rather tight.

Have 1/2 a tub of low fat cream cheese (cheese and chive) to use before Friday (i hate to use it after it's been open more than a week - Listeria etc). Toniwoty suggested a pea and onion pasta bake, but if anyone has any other suggestions it'd be v welcome (my OH says I cook too much pasta) - am wondering about stuffed cheesey rice peppers? x

How about stuffed mushrooms....Fry some onion and bacon mix with cream cheese stuff large mushroom and pop in the oven for 20 minutes:p

PasturesNew :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I did say they were very sweet. I won't make them more than once every few months.

DD and DS took a few each to school and gave them to their friends to try. Every one of them said they were fantastic and asked for the recipe. They lasted 24 hrs and no more!

I treated myself to two 2lb loaf tins from Sainsbury's and DH drove me to Lidl to stock up on their flour as it is still cheaper.

Used the bread machine to make the dough and have just taken two large loaves out of the oven. Will use one and freeze one and make a dozen bread rolls tomorrow as I resent paying over £1 for a packaged tasteless loaf!

Had some spag bol mixture left from yesterday and a few sad looking potatoes so made mince, sausages and mash with Twinks hobnobs to follow.

DH has just asked if he can cut the loaf and looked really sad when I suggested he waits for it to cool down!

Spurred on by this thread I made a bread and butter pudding tonight in order to use up the ends of about 3 loaves. It was delicious if I say so myself, and there's plenty left for tomorrow (at least I think there is...DH started attacking it when he came in from work). Also DH failed to tell me he is going out to eat tonight so doesn't want the spag bol I made him - I've told him he's having it for lunch tomorrow which he seemed quite happy about.

Bought some conny-onny for the Home Made Bounty Balls - couldn't believe how much the stuff costs! I've never bought it in my life before, lol. Got 2 tins, one ordinary and a one 'lite'.

Will have a go at the recipe at the weekend :D.

Today i'm making rhubarb jam with rhubarb from my allotment.

My girls are having their friends for tea so i've just made some cornflakes cakes as i had half a bar of cooking choc to use up. I put sprinkles on the cakes and they look super (even though i do say so myself).

I must keep an eye on the yogurts in my fridge so they don't go out of date and i must keep using the spinach from my allotment.

    Keep going all!
