I often use the left overs from a sunday roast for a soup so I'm happy to scrape uneaten veg and meat into the stockpot from the plate.

Can't abide waste and the cats aren't keen on veg :D

  • any leftovers ( not been on plates ) goeas in the freezer, if its been on plates and its safe for the muttleys ( No Gravy / Onion Family ) then they get it

    Mortgage-free Glee!
I carefully put leftovers in the fridge (or even the freezer)....and sometime later when I find them they get put into the bin:o
Sadly, this really does happen in this household!

Not that you lovely OS people do waste food I'm sure. :p

I have been trying to meal plan etc but sometimes I buy slightly too much or an item is only available in a size/pack too large for what I need. I do use stuff up as best I can but occasionally (like now) I am stuck with too much food and unable to use it up in time (and no space in the freezer). It doesn't help that my OH doesn't get the concept of using leftovers! :o

    So that's my confession!

...but I am learning, in my buying habits, to buy, in such a way that minimal food is wasted.
Sometimes I cook a stew which is just awful tasting/smelling, but rarely these days.
    I've been good lately.
  • i do feel guilty about throwing anything away, especially since finding this forum! In fact im debating all day if to discard some leftover cooked chicken and a bit of ham shank ive had in fridge since wednesday, was gonna throw in some veg and make soup with both but not sure if it'll be ok now....

However have learnt some handy tips from here so waste a lot less than we used to which im pleased about. And have learnt some lovely recipes to play about with too.

If you feel guilty about having to throw away food why not turn it into compost or if your council collects kitchen waste, join that? :)
