I have just made a chicken and mushroom pie ready for dinner with the leftovers from a sunday dinner roast chicken
we now buy free range chickens and husband cuts it in half (i cant bear the crunching noise) and we cook half and freeze half only 2 of us so dont need to roast a whole chicken and then leftovers make a pie or a casserole or stir fry.0 -
Half a rather tired cabbage that had been sitting in the fridge waiting for inspiration went in with some mash tonight and made bubble and squeak. That was with venison liver (not had it before - it was delicious!) bacon & onion and some veg. Our fridge is looking remarkably empty - good thing it's veg box day tomorrow!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Aaaah Liver:T .
I made rabbit pie at the weekend and incorporated the livers (from two rabbits) expecting complaints from DW and DSs. But no, they all said how nice it was:j even after I pointed out the liver to them.
Next step is to give them lamb's liver as a main course.:D0 -
I've got some blue cheese and Brie which inlaws brought back from France?
Any suggestions for using it up?
Got some cauliflower looking a bit manky so might try posh cauli cheese but other ideas welcome.
Also half a tub of Horlicks which I've gone off as a drink.DEBT FREE! Sep '08/£9,800 in Oct '06 :beer:0 -

Blue cheese & Cauli soup? Mind you your posh cauli cheese sounds scrummy. The brie I think I would just use in sandwiches, or maybe a quiche?
Not a clue on the horlicks though - sorry!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

A bacon and brie sandwich in a ciabatta roll goes down nicely.
We have red cabbage to eat up tonight. Didn't have any wine in the freezer to cook it in so I used value orange juice instead. DD's bf was well pleased. I've introduced him to a new vegetable!0 -
I freeze the ends of loaf, sliced for toast. Whenever I make a new loaf they all start of on that one and leave the end from yesterday:(
So now I just do 6 loaves in a week and if they want toast I say take it from the freezer.
I always stick my DH's loaf in the freezer (I am gluten intolerant so have my own bread). In the past I have bought him a loaf and it takes him so long to use it, it goes off before he eats even half so I find putting it the freezer from day one works0 -
Hmm.... If I have half a stilton, onion and potato pie left in a dish which I forgot about as I left it cooling on the side for....8 or so hours over night... but the kitchen is pretty cold and I wacked it in the fridge after should it be ok to eat this afternoon?
I'm thinking it may be a bit dry so I'll heat properly and add gravy and peas, but worried I may get food poisoning??:ASaving for my future...0 -

that will be fine - i often leave things in the microwave overnight if too hot for fridge. just make sure it is properly heated all the way throughit's nice to be important but more important to be nice!! :kisses3:0 -
I have some left-over mash in the fridge since sunday and am wondering if it's just a wee bit too late to use them. Has anybody any ideas please - they're in a pyrex dish with a lid on. Or should I just submit to defeat and dump them
.
Not like me at all to leave something for so long - I'm claiming a throat infection as my excuse for not keeping a close watch on the fridge contents.
