Hello
Due to OH getting a bit carried away we have a huge tub of leftover cooked pork to use up... Having eaten it on Saturday, then in sandwiches yesterday I don't fancy it again for a while, the thought if it is making me feel a bit ill!
Does anyone have any suggestions, preferably of something I can freeze and bring out when I can stomach it again!!
Also, could I freeze it as it is and take it out when I want it? And do you think it would be ok today after cooking it on Saturday
This is what I get for watching Jamie Oliver with him!!
Would really appreciate some advice!
Thanks

Jamie Oliver has a lot to answer for, I went to local butchers last weekend, and he didn't have any pork shoulder left - said he doesn't usually get asked for it, but after the programme loads of people were asking !!!!!!!!
I always buy a large roast, and make loads of gravy, and freeze enough in a container for 3 or 4 in the gravy.0 -
Time to get this thread working again I think!! It'd slipped quite a long way down....
Tea tonight was Shepherds Pie - the mash included two rather elderly spuds from the depths of the veggie basket and a couple of parsnips which were languishing in the bottom of the fridge. Into the mince mix went the last of this weeks mushrooms and a couple of peppers. Having filled the two freezers to bursting point when the lamb arrived at the weekend we're now well set up for food for a while to come, and will probably have a good many leftovers to consider each time we get a joint out for a Sunday lunch!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

A mix of semi & full fat milk made a rice pud last night & the scrag end of mash is going to Pup's concoction for today. I'd made a liver cass for him yesterday & he can have the last of that plus the mash & fiddly bits from Sunday's joint for tonight.Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

Used up the leftover mash and veg from Monday, chopped the veg and mixed it together with the mash and used it in the bottom of the cauli cheese dish - lovely!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000

Everything I ate yesterday was leftovers.:D
For dinner I had roast potatoes chopped and fried with garlic and chopped anchovies. Was very nice and not at all fishy. The anchovies seemed to evaporate. LOL I also put some grated cheese on top which melted in. Will try that again next time as those are good store cupbard additions. What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -
Leftover red wine heated to remove alcohol (won't freeze otherwise) and frozen as cubes for future beef casseroles.
.
I've never bothered to do this (didn't even occur to me if I'm honest) and OH's leftover red wine freezes fine - it's solid when I take it out.

I've never had to heat it up forst to get it to freeze either (mind you - there's not very often such a thing as 'leftover wine' in my house - LOL!!!!!!!)The best advice you can give your children: "Take responsibility for your own actions...and always Read the Small Print!"

Any ideas for 2/3 jar of ginger marmalade?
Given to us at Xmas and we dont like it, love ginger and marmalade but not together! Did come in a nice kilner jar
Can I hide the taste in anything?
I coat chicken pieces (usually thighs and drumsticks) in a mix of bitter orange marmalade, orange juice, fresh herbs and olive oil; let them marinade a while and then roast. Quarter some onions and and orange and put them in the roasting tray too. I think ginger marmalade would work well in a similar recipe - you could add fruit or veg to taste.0 -
i did a lovely leftovers dinner earlier in the week! old potatoes peeled and thinly sliced, two onions thinly sliced, one piece of gammon and 4 rashers of bacon, lots of garlic, dried herbs all layered in casserole dish with old cream and a bit of milk poured over. put some cheese that had gone hard on top and it was excellent!
this is definately one that i will be making again and would even consider doing with half chicken and half baconit's nice to be important but more important to be nice!! :kisses3:0
