Oranges? - Crepe Suzette? I don't like Oranges ordinarily, but I'd eat them with pancakes and sauce.........

Has anyone got any ideas for
a.) 500g of roasted salted peanuts, preferably main meal type ideas rather than snacks

b.) two large jars of not very pleasant sweet piccalili (courtesy of Approved Foods, turned out not to be the bargain I'd hoped :( )
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.
  • how about Caramelised Oranges? type it into google and you will get loads of recipies!!

bonus is that you will only really need sugar, cinnamon and something to serve it with - yoghurt or ice cream....

Peanuts - you could rinse them to remove some of the salt and then make them into some sort of satay sauce to have with chicken?

I gave up and threw the last egg in the end (not literally!). It wasn't fresh enough to eat in welsh rarebit as I'd planned and to add to that the loaf of bread fell apart as OH took it out of the machine yesterday evening. In the end we had the remaining salad with some marinated fish in sauce that was in the fridge and chunks of the bread. It was nice, although not strictly speaking what I'd planned!

anyone have any ideas for 2 now-hard fruit scones? the pack was reduced to clear and only pennies, but there were too many to eat whilst still fresh.

A variation on a jamie oliver recipe, cut the scones into small slices and spread each slice with marmalade/apricot jam etc and then cover with custard and put into oven on a low heat until its hot through and serve.

  • I usually stuff a vegetable with it. I normally use bulghar wheat or cous cous but a grain is a grain I'm sure.

Fry up some onion (and garlic if you like) then add cooked grain and season well. This mix can be flavoured with some fried bacon, cheese (feta?), or for a more middle eastern feel nuts (pine, walnuts) and raisins and some spices (cinamon maybe?). Handful of green herb (parsley, coriander, basil - not too much of that) too if it's kicking about.

I usualy stuff peppers, but i'm sure anything with a cavity will be grateful.

Then put in the oven (180-200C) until the vegetable is cooked.

I normally lurk here getting ideas (thank you, all!) but have got some leftover bolognese, am struggling for something to pad it with to feed 4 children this afternoon. One child doesn't like beans (otherwise would make a chilli) and 2 don't like obvious tomato chunks (otherwise would chuck a can in).

Also have found stale scones - wondered whether they would work with custard as a bread and butter pudding? - apologies - missed the post earlier today which answered this very question!

    Any ideas welcome!

I sometimes use a small portion of bolognais on top of jacket potatoes with lots of cheese - need a smaller portion that way.

I pad mine out with grated carrots, peas, sweetcorn etc when I cook it first - so you could add cooked versions of those?
