righhtt, im back, sorry took so long, ive just downloaded the latest version of internet explorer, now its saying the page cannot be displayed.
Yes we are on cable, i've just tried plugging the laptop to the router, then to the modem etc but no internet connection on the laptop, even direct?Nice to save.0 -
Try this, unplug all the cables and using the ethernet cable, plug this directly into the ntl modem and into your pc...nothing else and definitely no usb cable.then take the power lead from the back of the ntl modem, wait for a minute and plug it back in.... then just try to access the net.....
can you please start from here, then we will have a bash at sorting you out....this is the basics...one cable to ntl modem and one cable to your pc, then reboot your ntl modemI have nothing better to do!!!!

could be an issue with the ethernet port on the modem, seeing as you have always used the usb connection. Try the basic set up with the ethenet cables. ie from pc to modem only, and then wiggle the cable at the modem end to see what happens, by the way, have you checked out the drivers are instaled ok for the network adapter. Control panel, system , hardware and device manager. Make sure there is no warning mark against network adapter
I have nothing better to do!!!!

hey i've just tried reconnecting the pc and modem using the Ethernet cable - i've used THREE different cables and none of them work! So i'm also thinking theres an issue with the Modems ethernet port!
On the Device Manager part theres no warning mark on anythingNice to save.0 -
give ntl a ring then and tell them that the modem has stopped working. I think this has to be the issue, some of the older modems definitely had faulty ethernet ports, hopefully they will send someone out and change the modem. A friend of mine had a similar problem, the net would connect and then disconnect. Perfect if he was on usb but going wireless................what a nightmare........
let us know how you get on...good luckI have nothing better to do!!!!
